Chapter 843: Chapter 446: The Crystal Tower Covers Pallet Town! The Threat Felt by Mewtwo!

Professor Oak’s one sentence, directly cooled Ash’s excitement in an instant.

Pallet Town—something happened!

"What’s going on Professor Oak! What happened to Pallet Town! What about my mom!" In Ash’s tone, there was an unusual sense of panic.

Pallet Town was his home, and his mother was still there! Along with all his companions... It felt like their base had been stolen by someone!

"Don’t worry, Delia is temporarily safe, including your Pokemon. You see, I’m still able to talk to you on the phone, so you know the situation hasn’t reached a dire point yet," Professor Oak reassured, signaling Ash not to be too anxious.

Hearing this, Ash also sighed in relief. Indeed, if something major had happened in Pallet Town, how could Professor Oak be talking to him so calmly over the phone?

Seeing Ash calm down, Professor Oak began to narrate what was happening in Pallet Town.

The incident’s origin started with Professor Oak’s student, Spencer Hale.

Professor Spencer Hale was an extremely talented researcher. Even among Professor Oak’s numerous associations, he was quite renowned, his status only slightly lower than Professor Oak’s own.

Unlike Professor Oak, who had a wide range of research interests, Spencer Hale specialized in researching legendary Pokemon.

Yet, not long ago, something happened to him. In a certain ruin, he vanished without a trace despite numerous searches.

The authorities even broadcast a default assumption of his death—because researching legendary Pokemon was an extremely dangerous affair.

Despite being a professor, he didn’t possess the formidable strength of Professor Oak; he merely excelled in his field of research.

For such a person to personally venture into the ruins and encounter an accident was, in truth, quite expected...

After the call ended, Ash stood in front of the phone booth for a moment.

"Don’t hang up, I haven’t finished speaking.

As Ash was about to hang up and rush to find Miss Joy, thoughts filled with how to return to Pallet Town at the fastest speed, he was stopped by Professor Oak’s voice, causing him to retract the foot he had already half-stepped out with and stead himself again in front of the phone booth.

"I haven’t explained the specific situation to you. Now you know something’s up in Pallet Town, but you still don’t know why it happened."

Ash took a deep breath, forcibly suppressing the restlessness brewing within his chest.

"Go on," he said, his voice slightly more stable than before, yet his hand still gripped the phone tightly. With his current strength, if he got too excited, the entire phone might explode.

"The incident’s origin, starts with my student—Professor Spencer Hale."

Professor Oak’s voice came through from the other end, carrying an unusually heavy tone.

Professor Spencer Hale was Professor Oak’s student, focusing his research on legendary Pokemon.

In the academic world, he was quite famous as someone truly knowledgeable.

But just recently, he disappeared in a ruin. The league’s rescue team turned the entire ruin upside down, finding neither him nor his body.

The officials eventually broadcast his obituary—a professor without an Elite-level Pokemon by his side personally venturing into the ruins of legendary Pokemon; mishaps were not unexpected.

The rescue team only found Professor Spencer Hale’s backpack at the entrance of the ruins, containing the last batch of research notes and some items resembling puzzles. These relics were finally returned to his daughter, Mitsumi, by the league.

Upon hearing this, Ash’s brow furrowed. He essentially knew everyone in Pallet Town, but the name Mitsumi left no traces in his memory.

"Her mother passed away early, and with Professor Spencer Hale often not at home, the child was mostly alone," said Professor Oak. "She lives not far from Pallet Town, in quite a large villa, but normally doesn’t have many visitors."

This morning, Professor Oak and Delia discussed going to check on that child.

After Professor Spencer Hale’s incident, neighbors had been helping her with meals, and they thought of going to see the situation, chat with her a bit.

But before they could reach the villa’s entrance, the ground cracked open.

A beam of light burst from directly beneath the villa, followed by transparent crystals madly gushing out from underground. The villa was swallowed in an instant!

Trees, the ground, fences, all covered in a hard shell within minutes. Centered on the large villa, a ten-kilometer area was completely sealed off, with the range of crystals still expanding outward.

"It’s now nearing the edge of Pallet Town," Professor Oak sighed. "If this continues, the whole of Pallet Town will be engulfed."

"Why didn’t you tell me sooner!" Ash’s deep voice carried a hint of a roar. Ever since he started traveling, with the help of the chat group, he seldom lost his composure, but this time was different. It involved his family!

Professor Oak looked at the tense face on the screen and sighed, "When I called you, nothing had happened yet. The Crystal Tower appeared this morning, and the spread happened within half a day. It’s not that I didn’t want to tell you; there just wasn’t time."

With his knuckles white from clutching the receiver, it took Ash several seconds to slowly release his grip. He didn’t say anything more, just left a single sentence: "I’ll be back right away," before hanging up the phone.
