Chapter 303: Greninja vs Two Legendary Pokémon

Mewtwo successfully evolved into its Y Form, then zipped through the beams of light at a terrifying speed.

"How is this possible?!"

Inside the hunter headquarters, Hunter K’s pupils shrank as he watched Mewtwo dart through the Hyper Beam barrages like a streak of light on the big screen. He shoved aside the subordinate operating the screen and slowed the footage to 32x speed—only then could he make out Mewtwo’s movements.

By then, Mewtwo had already dodged the tech cannons’ Hyper Beams. Its eyes glowed silver—and one by one, the cannons protruding from the mountain bent and twisted.

Hunter K, already stunned, was left utterly speechless.

Two seconds later—

"Release the Pokémon army! Overwhelm it with numbers! I don’t believe it can take on five hundred powerful Pokémon at once!" Hunter K regained his composure and shouted.

Before long, the mountain shook as exits opened one after another. Pokémon with collars around their necks flew out—Pidgeot, Fearow, Crobat, Ledian, Skarmory, Swellow, Vespiquen, and more. A wide variety of Flying-type Pokémon. Then, many non-flying Pokémon emerged from the exits—Arbok, Nidoking, Nidoqueen, Golduck, Golem, Drapion, and others. All of them wore silver-white collars as well.

"Attack! Attack! Bring it down!" Hunter K screamed from inside the base.

Around him, hunters frantically pounded on their keyboards. Moments later, waves of Pokémon launched attacks at Mewtwo.

Mewtwo weaved through the attacks with ease, countering with Psychic and Aura Sphere.

"K-sama! We found him! The Kanto League Champion is right there!"

Meanwhile, Rio’s location was picked up by the base’s cameras. The surveillance hunter reported it to Hunter K.

Hunter K saw Rio on the screen, standing with his arms crossed, watching the battle like a spectator.

"Quick! Send a group of Pokémon to capture him!" Hunter K ordered excitedly, aiming to capture the leader first. In his view, capturing Rio seemed easier than dealing with that slippery Mewtwo that couldn’t be hit.

The moment his command was issued, the Pokémon on the ground that had been attacking Mewtwo began converging on Rio. Before long, they had surrounded him.

The hunter Rio had brought along was terrified, covering his face as if afraid the headquarters would recognize him.

"What are you afraid of? I told you—this Hunter Organization is going down today. If they still have the capacity to come after you after this, then I’ve failed." Rio patted the frightened hunter beside him with a smirk.

He reached for a Luxury Ball to send out Charizard—but stopped himself. He suddenly remembered that today should be Greninja’s stage. Having Mewtwo out was already one thing, but sending out Charizard to steal the spotlight too would be unfair.

"Greninja—settle the score you’ve been holding for all these years. Let these Pokémon hunters know what they’ve earned." Rio tossed Greninja’s Poké Ball.

"Koga~"

A flash of light—Greninja took the stage. The moment it appeared, a towering pillar of water erupted from beneath its feet, and golden energy gathered at its feet.

"What’s going on with that Greninja?"

Inside the headquarters, Hunter K was puzzled by Greninja’s Bond Evolution and the golden energy surging from the ground. But he didn’t overthink it—he simply said:

"Send a few Pokémon to take down that Greninja. Once it’s down, capture Rio."

His subordinates followed his orders. A Nidoking and a Nidoqueen both fired Hyper Beams at Greninja as it underwent Bond Evolution and Geomancy.

But just before the attacks hit—Hunter K was shocked again.

Because the two Hyper Beams struck nothing but afterimages.

Two seconds later, for reasons unknown, both Nidoqueen and Nidoking collapsed.

Hunter K, completely baffled, slowed the footage again. At 24x speed, he finally saw what had happened.

A split second before the Hyper Beams struck, Greninja had moved—leaping four or five meters into the air. Upon landing, it closed the distance to Nidoking’s back in an instant. A blindingly fast Water Shuriken slashed across Nidoking’s neck, while at the same time, a Water Pulse shot toward Nidoqueen. In one simultaneous dual attack, Greninja had taken down both Nidoking and Nidoqueen.

"This... is this really a Greninja?"

Hunter K was completely stunned. As the boss of the Pokémon Hunter Organization, he had traveled to many regions and captured many Pokémon. This was the first time he had ever seen a Greninja with such speed and power. It was as if it belonged to a completely different species.

By the time he snapped out of his daze, Greninja had already taken down another seven or eight of the Pokémon surrounding Rio. It moved through the forest like a god of death, cutting through everything in its path—even a Paldean Ceruledge was felled by a single Water Shuriken. The power gap was simply too vast.

"Attack Rio! Distract that Greninja!"

Hunter K had no regard for battle etiquette. Seeing how powerful Greninja was, he ordered his subordinates to redirect the Pokémon’s attacks toward Rio.

In response, Greninja scattered its Spikes like a blossoming flower, sending tiny Water Shurikens across dozens of meters in every direction. Then, like a yellow flash, it moved in an instant—blocking an attack aimed at Rio one moment, appearing behind the attacker the next, slashing its neck with a Water Shuriken. Then another instant later, back to Rio’s side to block another attack, then behind yet another Pokémon to take it down.

Greninja’s fighting style wasn’t like Mewtwo’s sweeping psychic domination—but when played in slow motion, it was the perfect embodiment of an assassin. One by one, the Pokémon fell in droves under its relentless assault.

"Boss, what do we do now?" The hunter controlling the Pokémon through the tech collars asked Hunter K in terror.

Hunter K’s face was pale. He hadn’t expected his Pokémon army to end up like this. Not only were the ground forces being decimated by Greninja—the Flying-types in the sky were completely helpless against Mewtwo.

"Release the four legendary Pokémon." Hunter K finally said coldly. "Let that Rio witness the true depth of our Hunter Organization’s power."

He walked to the control panel himself and began typing in codes. Meanwhile, inside the four enclosures holding the legendary Pokémon, a part of each of their bodies began to glow. Like the other Pokémon, they too had tech collars fitted on them.

Before long, the Galarian Articuno, the ordinary Moltres, Regirock, and Darkrai flew out from the mountain and joined the battle against Mewtwo and Greninja.

The Galarian Articuno and Moltres joined the assault on Mewtwo. Regirock and Darkrai joined the fight against Greninja.

As Rio had predicted, Regirock’s level appeared as 80—the same as his own.

But Darkrai surprised him.

"This isn’t the true Darkrai." Rio said in surprise.

The true Darkrai, in his view, shouldn’t have Champion-tier talent. And the description only called it a "powerful member" of the Darkrai species—which meant the true Darkrai hadn’t been captured by the Hunter Organization.

But it made sense—the true Darkrai could briefly hold its own against Dialga and Palkia. It wouldn’t be so easily caught.

Still, even if this wasn’t the true Darkrai, at that level, it could put significant pressure on Greninja. Greninja was currently level 71—75 after Bond Evolution, and with Geomancy, it could barely fight against level 82 or 83 opponents. And that was just Darkrai—there was also an 80-level, Legendary-talent Regirock to deal with.

As Rio was calculating, Darkrai and Regirock entered the battlefield, joining the remaining Pokémon in surrounding Greninja.

"Little frog, want me to come out and help share the pressure? These two joining the fight makes things a lot more troublesome for you." Gengar’s voice echoed in Rio’s mind. He looked down—Gengar had slipped into his shadow at some point.

"Don’t interfere. This is my battle. I can defeat them." Greninja refused Gengar’s offer through the mental link.

"Fine, fine. If you can’t handle it, just tell your Ghost Dad." Gengar’s tone was resigned. It had wanted a chance to show off too—but Greninja wouldn’t let it. All it could do was grumble internally: all the hard work fell on it, and it never got the spotlight.

Back in the forest, Regirock launched a Stone Edge attack—a barrage of sharp stones shooting toward Greninja.

Greninja moved like a yellow flash, dodging the stones with ease. The next instant, it appeared beside Regirock and slashed with a Water Shuriken. But this time, against Regirock’s incredible defense, the attack only chipped off some fragments—nothing like the effortless takedowns against the ordinary Pokémon.

And as Greninja struck, Regirock quickly reached out to grab it. Greninja dodged at the last second, slipping away from the edge of Regirock’s palm. As it was about to land, it suffered its first hit.

Darkrai emerged like a phantom from the shadow where Greninja was landing, striking it with Sucker Punch.

"Koga~"

The sudden attack drew a pained cry from Greninja.

"Beautiful! That’s it! Teach that Greninja a lesson—let it taste the power of the Mythical Darkrai!"

Inside the hunter base, Hunter K laughed heartily as he finally saw Greninja take damage.

"Have Regirock use Lock-On, then follow up with Zap Cannon!" He ordered his subordinates.

"Yes, Boss!" The hunter controlling Regirock quickly typed on his keyboard.

On the big screen, Regirock responded. "Krrk~ Krrk~"

The H-shaped symbol on Regirock’s head flashed as its gaze locked onto Greninja. It raised both hands, and a Zap Cannon rapidly gathered.

The next second, the Zap Cannon fired at Greninja. Greninja quickly got up to dodge—but because of Lock-On, no matter where it moved, the Zap Cannon followed relentlessly.

Seeing this, Rio offered a suggestion through the mental link. Moments later, Greninja appeared beside an Absol—and used its Water Shuriken to slap the Absol in front of itself, using it as a shield to block the Zap Cannon. The Absol collapsed instantly.

But that didn’t mean Greninja could let its guard down—Darkrai’s attack was coming.

It used Sucker Punch again, emerging from Greninja’s shadow to strike once more. But this time, it failed.

Because Greninja and Rio shared a mental link, everything Greninja saw, Rio could also see—and vice versa. So the moment Darkrai emerged, Greninja used Shadow Sneak, vanishing and reappearing behind Regirock in an instant.

It unleashed Water Pulse—torrents of water from its mouth pushing Regirock back step by step—until a Lycanroc hit it with Quick Attack, forcing it to vanish again.

The battle between Greninja and the gathered Pokémon was far from over.
