Cain's psychic power became increasingly turbulent. Now, it was no longer Marcus who did not want to allow Cain to command his Pokémon; now it was Cain who did not want to allow Marcus to command his own.

After all, Marcus, combined with those Pokémon who, even in a berserk state, still retained a certain level of rationality, truly made Cain think they would not be easy to handle.

It was not the berserk state of the Pokémon that was frightening, but rather that after entering berserk, they still maintained reason and a certain level of tactical awareness.

But with this decision, Marcus had essentially cut off one of his own arms. Without his restraints, and after some time being eroded by the effects of the medicine, his Pokémon had almost completely lost their reason and had fully fallen into a berserk state.

In reality, it could not be said that his decision had been entirely wrong. After all, Cain and Steven were two people, and the strength of their Pokémon was not weak. If he fought in a normal and orderly manner, even with the berserk enhancement, Marcus' Pokémon might not have been able to withstand the tactical combination between Cain and Steven.

Therefore, he chose to risk everything.

After all, in his view, although Cain was not weak, in order to have brought his Pokémon to their current level, he must not have had much time to train their autonomous combat ability. As long as he restricted Cain's ability to give commands, in theory, Cain's Pokémon should not have known how to fight on their own.

Who would have imagined that Cain had anticipated this and had begun training the autonomous combat capability of his Pokémon long ago?

In reality, it could not exactly be said that he was training the autonomous combat ability of the Pokémon. Rather, it was to achieve a higher degree of mutual understanding between him and his Pokémon. As long as Cain had an idea, and at that exact moment the Pokémon itself thought the same, then combat efficiency would undoubtedly reach its maximum possible level.

Boom!

Boom!

Boom!

Although Sharpedo had the advantage of the Water type, Mega Tyranitar was by no means easy prey. After using the move Dragon Dance three times, it had become extremely agile, and its offensive power was terrifying.

Those streams of water from Mega Sharpedo posed no danger to it. Moreover, Mega Sharpedo was precisely a Pokémon specialized in close combat; it absolutely had to approach in order to unleash its true value. Its ability was also Strong Jaw, but when speaking of close combat, Mega Tyranitar's capability in that regard was even greater!

As long as it dared to approach, Mega Tyranitar's iron fists were definitely not for decoration.

At that moment, Steven also played a huge role. The battle had already entered a clear disadvantage for Marcus.

No matter how much Marcus widened his eyes and tried to break free from the oppression of Cain's psychic power, Cain would not give him any opportunity.

At that moment, the intensity of the psychic power of both sides was practically equal. Even if there was some difference, it was minimal.

He watched as his Pokémon were defeated one after another, falling to the ground and losing the ability to fight. Afterwards, under the effect of those special pills, their bodies slowly deflated, something that clearly showed how terrifying the side effects were.

Marcus' Pokémon were all at the first barrier of the Champion level, or even brushing against the second barrier of the Champion level. That a medicine could significantly increase their power even at that level demonstrated how terrifying its side effects must have been.

With the fourth use of the move Dragon Dance by Mega Tyranitar, followed by the final strike of the move Precipice Blades, the fall of Mega Sharpedo declared Marcus' complete defeat.

And this battle, due to Marcus' error in tactical judgment, lasted less than half an hour in total.

If from the beginning Marcus had fought steadily and firmly, directing those berserk Pokémon, they undoubtedly could have held out for much longer. But he desired too strongly to defeat Cain.

He desired revenge too strongly, and therefore he lost so quickly.

Cain and Steven walked until they stood before him, looking down at Marcus sitting on the ground with a completely defeated expression.

Before they could say anything, Marcus was the first to laugh. Then that laughter turned into a manic cackle.

"HAAHAHAHAHAHA!"

"HAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Seeing that delirious laughter, neither Cain nor Steven understood what he found so amusing.

"Marcus, in truth, there was no need for you to go this far for the Sacred Church. Aren't the people of the Sacred Church supposed to always act with their own interests at the center?" Cain said when he saw that Marcus was almost crying from laughing so much.

Upon hearing Cain's words, Marcus glanced at him sideways with a trace of disdain and said: "Do you think the Sacred Church is an organization completely ruled by interests? If that were truly the case, why would it have existed until now?"

"Hmph! There are short-sighted people who believe joining the Sacred Church is only for obtaining power, but they do not know why our organization is called the Sacred Church, nor why we fight, nor why we struggle. They understand absolutely nothing about that!"

"The bishop is a great man! He discovered the corruption of this established system. The great tree that is the Pokémon League has already begun to rot from its roots. Now, if it wishes to continue living, the only way is to tear everything down completely and rebuild it from scratch!"

"And that is the true reason for the existence of our Sacred Church!"

Upon hearing this, Cain frowned.

"So today you came with the determination to die, willing to give everything for that so-called great ideal of your Sacred Church."

"Heh, heh..." Marcus let out a couple of foolish laughs and fell backward, not caring at all about the crimson sand rolling across the ground.

He adopted a comfortable posture and murmured: "I did not complete my mission very well... but I still await the arrival of the new era..."

As he spoke, his voice became weaker and weaker, and Cain felt the aura of his body gradually fading.

Marcus, with the determination to die, took his own life after being defeated. Although Cain noticed, he could not prevent it; he was a psychic, and so was the other.

Looking at Marcus, now without any trace of life, Cain waved his right hand with a cold expression and dispelled the barrier. Then he said to Steven: "I already know, more or less, what the objective of the Sacred Church is!"

"I'll go ahead! You come later with my Master and the others! It's too far away for me to take you with me!"

Steven was stunned and asked, "Where?"

Cain replied: "Mt. Silver!"

After saying that, his figure disappeared from the place together with his Pokémon.
