Chapter 539: Chapter 539: Anything Else Is Fine, But Not This

Serena laughed until tears were about to come out.

"So domineering?" she teased him on purpose.

Silas Hawthorne held her waist and said discontentedly, "That’s how domineering I am!"

"I finally became your rightful husband, and I won’t allow you to rekindle things with him." Silas said jealously, "Otherwise, I’ll go mad with jealousy."

Serena laughed as she looked at Silas’s tense expression, then she leaned forward and gave him a kiss.

"What are you thinking about?" Serena whispered softly, "Silas, we’ve been married for so long, it won’t happen."

Hearing her answer, Silas’s tense body finally relaxed, and his brows loosened.

He kissed her forehead.

"Everything else is fine, Serena, but this is non-negotiable." He whispered in her ear.

Serena listened to Silas’s heartbeat and felt his emotions.

This was the only request he made without room for discussion throughout their time together.

Feelings are always possessive and exclusive.

She wouldn’t disregard his feelings either.

She and Julian Lawson were long over.

No matter how much of a misunderstanding it was in the past, they could never return to what it was.

Thinking about it, Serena held Silas’s hand and said, "It’s my fault for not giving you enough security."

In the next moment, Silas kissed her lips, taking away her breath.

After a long while, they finally separated.

She leaned against his chest, feeling a little embarrassed.

"Serena, it’s not your fault." He said, "It’s my problem."

He knew very well that he himself lacked security, afraid that their relationship couldn’t withstand the seven years she had with Julian Lawson.

In this relationship, he was always the one at a disadvantage.

Serena understood his thoughts.

After a long while, she whispered, "Fool."

The night grew deeper, and the moon above was very bright.

On the other side, in an apartment next to Lawson Tower.

Julian Lawson, as usual, sat alone watching the distance.

Thinking about everything during these days, he felt a sense of loss.

Serena, although no longer completely resistant like before, was still unfamiliar to him.

Their relationship nowadays seemed to be just ordinary business exchanges or nodding acquaintances.

He understood in his heart that this state was already very rare.

But...

His heart was still bitter.

"Buzz buzz..."

Julian Lawson’s phone vibrated.

He glanced down; it was a message from Ian Yates.

Ian Yates: What’s Mr. Lawson doing now? Are you free? Can I come visit?

Julian Lawson thought for a moment, then replied — I’m in the apartment.

Ian Yates quickly replied.

Ian Yates: Great, I’m coming up now.

Not long after, the apartment doorbell rang, and Julian Lawson controlled his wheelchair to press a button to open the door.

Ian Yates came in smiling.

"Mr. Lawson!" Ian Yates called out.

"Hmm." Julian Lawson nodded and let him come in.

Ian Yates closed the door, and the two went to the living room.

"How’s Mr. Lawson’s leg recently?" Ian Yates asked as he placed the items he brought on the table.

"Still the same as before." Julian Lawson replied, he also went to the side and brought out something.

Ian Yates hurriedly wanted to help him, but he refused.

"I can move normally," Julian Lawson said.

It’s been a year, and he was already used to it.

He was comfortable with the wheelchair, often getting up to walk, but walking was a bit slow, and when it rained, his leg would hurt.

Ian Yates didn’t insist on helping and just followed Julian Lawson.

"Why did you come over this late? Is there something going on?" After returning to the living room, Julian Lawson asked.

Ian Yates thought for a moment, feeling a bit awkward.

"Want a drink?" Ian Yates changed the topic, saying, "I had someone bring over some wine."

Julian Lawson didn’t answer, just looked at Ian Yates.

"Alright..." Ian Yates scratched his head.

He thought for a moment, then finally said, "Mr. Lawson, Serena has been awake for many days now, I want... I want to know your thoughts."

Julian Lawson continued to look at him, urging him to speak.

Ian Yates let out a long sigh, took the notebook he brought, and handed it to Julian Lawson.

Julian Lawson didn’t open it, still looking at Ian Yates.

"Here’s what I think." Ian Yates finally spoke, "Serena’s attitude is already very clear. She doesn’t seem to have any intention of separating from Silas. Here, I’ve gathered stunning ladies from various families for you to look at, see if there’s anyone you fancy."

Ian Yates said, and with a smile, opened the notebook, flipping through the pages to show Julian Lawson.

"Look, this is the eldest daughter of the Chaucer Family, she’s pretty and nice. It’s just that the second daughter of the Chaucer Family is quite close to Orion Hawthorne."

He flipped to the next page: "This is from the Warren Family. If Mr. Lawson likes someone who can sing and dance, the Warren Family’s daughter is great."

"And this one." Ian Yates continued, "This one is from the Jenkins Family, although a small household, her looks resemble Serena..."

Ian Yates wanted to continue, but Julian Lawson reached out and pressed the notebook shut.

He closed the notebook and placed it aside.

"Ian, no need." Julian Lawson said, "I don’t have that inclination." 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

Ian Yates got anxious.

He quickly said, "Mr. Lawson, are you still thinking about Serena? If she never separates from Silas, are you really going to stay like this for the rest of your life?"

To stay like this for the rest of his life...

Julian Lawson calmly looked at the wall on the side.

"Maybe." he said.

Ian Yates grew more anxious.

"What about the Lawson Family?" Ian Yates immediately said, "Mr. Lawson, you can’t be without an heir! Who will inherit The Lawson Corporation after you? Such a huge estate!"

Julian Lawson stayed silent.

"Let’s talk about it later." Julian Lawson said after a long time.

But what appeared in his mind was Seraphina’s face.

Even though there’s no blood relation and officially, she’s not his child.

But for some reason, ever since Serena adopted Seraphina long ago, he considered Seraphina as his daughter.

However, Serena and Silas wouldn’t allow it, right?

Ian Yates still wanted to persuade him, but Julian Lawson waved his hand to stop him.

"There’s no need to force anything, Ian." Julian Lawson said, "Whether it’s her looks, personality, or anything else, she’s unique."

"Ian, I don’t have many thoughts right now; perhaps this state is the best."

Ian Yates still wanted to say something, but Julian Lawson’s phone vibrated again.

He glanced down.

Then Ian Yates saw Julian Lawson’s expression, while it seemed unchanged, had a hint of joy in his eyes.

Ian Yates glanced over, noticing Julian Lawson’s phone displayed Serena’s latest text message.

Serena: Silas and I have some matters to discuss with you, are you free tomorrow?
