Chapter 518: Chapter 518: I Will Wait, Always Wait

Time slowly passed.

Seraphina’s wounds gradually healed completely.

Silas Hawthorne’s illness also improved, and his wound had healed.

Julian Lawson had undergone surgery once, and was currently recovering, but the results were not as good as expected, so he was preparing for a second surgery.

A month had passed.

Since the last time Silas Hawthorne went to Corvale to pray, Serena Sterling’s condition had miraculously stabilized a lot.

Perhaps heaven heard his prayers, so Serena’s organs did not continue to fail and were slowly improving.

But a month had passed, and she still hadn’t woken up.

Today.

Serena finally came out of the ICU and was transferred to a VIP single room.

Silas Hawthorne, along with Seraphina and Sheila Jenkins, stood by watching as medical staff reattached some instruments to her. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

There were much fewer than before.

"Her body has recovered a lot," the doctor told Silas, "She’s out of life-threatening danger, except..."

Except she still hasn’t woken up.

"When exactly she will wake up, we can only wait," the doctor sighed deeply.

Silas squeezed Seraphina’s hand tightly.

The doctor left, leaving only a few people in the ward.

Sheila Jenkins was gently crying, and Seraphina went to comfort her.

While Silas stood by Serena’s bedside.

He reached out and gently touched her face.

It was the first time he touched her in so many days.

Instead of watching her from afar through a pane of glass as before.

Her cheeks were still soft and smooth, but much thinner than before.

Her eyes were rimmed red, and Silas’s heart ached indescribably.

Bianca Lynch, Jasper Ford, Ethan Lynch, and others also arrived and gathered around.

Listening to Sheila Jenkins relay the doctor’s words, everyone felt sad.

"I thought she would wake up once she got through the life-threatening moment," Bianca choked up, "but now, who knows how much longer we’ll have to wait."

"Why won’t Serena wake up?" Jasper said, eyes red, "We’re all waiting for her."

Silas lowered his head, looking at Serena’s tightly closed eyes. A tear fell onto her face, and he wiped it away with his hand.

Why hasn’t she awakened?

Is she too tired?

Since she was very young, she always struggled to move forward, for her mom, for herself, later for her lover, for her child, for the Sheridan Family, for her father, and to uncover the truth.

Even in dire situations, she would find a way to fight back.

She had been trying for a very long time.

Always by herself.

Bearing and enduring much too much.

The sound of wheels approached, and Julian Lawson appeared at the ward’s door in a wheelchair.

He looked towards inside from afar.

Silas stood upright, closed his eyes, and controlled his emotions.

"Serena will wake up," he said, his voice slightly hoarse "Maybe she is just exhausted, resting."

Silas continued, "Once she is fully rested, she’ll wake up and be with us."

"I’ll wait." Silas said, opening his eyes, looking at Serena’s face, "I’ll always wait."

The wind blew gently.

Everyone’s gaze remained on her.

Silent sorrow.

...

Silas purchased a house near the hospital, convenient for Sheila Jenkins and Seraphina to visit.

As for himself, he moved into Serena’s hospital room.

No matter how busy he was, he would come to accompany her every day.

Tonight was Silas’s first night with Serena in the single room.

After Sheila Jenkins and Seraphina had left, only Silas and Serena were there.

He brought a basin of warm water to clean her body.

"You’ve gotten so much thinner." He said softly, "I’ve raised so many things to be plump, but you, no matter how hard I try, you are getting skinnier."

"Seraphina is growing up quickly, she’s no longer the little crybaby." Silas continued, "She has vaguely become the top leader in her class, everyone likes her very much."

"If you continue sleeping like this, you might miss many wonderful moments of hers."

As Silas washed her gently, he spoke softly to her.

Hoping by speaking, she might get interested and give some feedback.

But after he carried the basin away, poured out the water, and returned to her side, tucking her in, she still had no response.

"Sigh..."

Silas sighed softly.

He opened a nearby drawer and took out a box.

Opening the box.

Inside was jewelry, but covered in bloodstains.

These were all the jewelry Serena wore on their wedding day.

Later, when she was beaten by Preston Langley, the jewelry she wore was also stained with blood.

He recalled her whole hand was covered in blood, still wearing their wedding ring, shining in the blood and firelight.

Silas took out cleaning tools and gently picked up the ring.

He sat by Serena’s bed, and gently wiped the bloodstains from it.

After cleaning the ring, he wiped the necklace, bracelet, and earrings...

Cleaning each one.

The ward was silent except for him accompanying her.

Once the surface bloodstains were cleaned, these jewels sparkled under the hospital’s cold lights.

Reminding him of the day she wore them with the beautiful gown, walking step by step to him, promising a lifetime together.

It was so beautiful.

Wish to go back to that time and change everything.

But it was only a beautiful desire.

Silas looked at Serena beside him, and bitterly smiled, placing them in a professional cleaning machine.

Bloodstains or other things in every seam were washed out.

As for her wedding dress...

It was covered in too many bloodstains, along with scratches, burnt marks.

And during her emergency rescue, it was cut open, practically ruined.

No longer repairable.

He had called Lady Maysa, who sadly said it was damaged beyond repair.

He stored the wedding dress at their home.

Created a glass case, put the dress inside after cleaning and simple repair.

Cleaning was complete.

Silas took each piece of jewelry out, placing them in the box.

Stored them back in the cabinet.

Finally, he sat beside her bed, lightly touched her face.

"It’s late." Silas smiled lightly, softly said, "Good night."

No one responded.

He softly kissed her forehead, glanced at her again, and returned to his bed, turning off the lights.
