Chapter 155: The Child Beyond The Door
Silence covered creation.
The little girl sat alone in the endless white field.
She looked no older than eight.
Long silver hair fell over her shoulders.
Her dress was faded and torn, as though it had existed for countless ages.
Tears stained her cheeks.
Yet she smiled.
Not because she was happy.
Because someone had finally come.
"Did..."
"...someone finally come for me?"
Seraph stood frozen.
Every warning.
Every battle.
Every sacrifice.
Everything had prepared him to face a monster.
Instead...
He found a lonely child.
The First Creator slowly closed its enormous eye.
"I had forgotten..."
Halo looked equally stunned.
"So had I."
The Seven Architects stared in complete silence.
The eldest slowly dropped to one knee.
"We..."
"...never knew."
The little girl looked around in confusion.
"Who are all of you?"
Her innocent voice echoed across the white field.
No hatred.
No anger.
Only loneliness.
Seraph slowly stepped forward.
Yelena instinctively reached for him.
"Be careful."
He nodded.
"I will."
The white field felt warm beneath his feet.
With every step, the endless emptiness around the girl changed.
Tiny blades of green grass appeared.
Then wildflowers.
Then a gentle breeze.
Life followed Seraph wherever he walked.
The little girl watched in amazement.
"Pretty..."
She reached out to touch one of the flowers.
It bloomed instantly.
Halo’s crystal flickered.
[Creation Authority is responding to her.]
The First Creator answered quietly.
"Not to her."
"To his choice."
Seraph stopped a few feet away.
He slowly knelt until they were at eye level.
"My name is Seraph."
The little girl tilted her head.
"I don’t have one."
"What should I call you?"
She thought for a long moment.
Then lowered her head.
"No one ever gave me one."
Yelena covered her mouth.
Tears filled her eyes.
The child had existed since before creation.
Yet no one had even given her a name.
Seraph smiled gently.
"Then how about..."
He looked at the endless white horizon.
"...Nova."
The little girl’s eyes widened.
"Nova?"
"It means a new beginning."
She whispered the name to herself.
"Nova..."
A smile slowly spread across her face.
"I like it."
The moment she accepted the name...
The white field exploded with color.
Trees rose from the ground.
Rivers appeared.
Birds filled the sky.
An entire world bloomed from nothing.
NULL stared in disbelief.
"Identity..."
"...stabilized."
The First Creator smiled.
"The final piece."
Nova looked at Seraph.
"You gave me a name."
"You deserved one."
She suddenly threw her tiny arms around him.
Seraph froze for a moment.
Then gently hugged her back.
The instant he did...
Every remaining trace of darkness vanished from creation.
The stars returned.
The broken heavens healed.
The shattered mountains rebuilt themselves.
Across Earth...
People looked up as the strange disturbances disappeared.
Children who had heard mysterious knocking no longer remembered it.
Only peace remained.
The Seven Architects felt their powers fading.
The golden light surrounding them dissolved into ordinary spiritual energy.
The eldest laughed quietly.
"So..."
"It’s finally over."
The First Creator descended.
Its enormous eye transformed into the figure of an elderly man wearing simple blue robes.
He stood before Nova.
Then...
He bowed.
Not to Seraph.
Not to the Architects.
To the little girl.
"I’m sorry."
Nova looked confused.
"For what?"
"I left you alone."
The old man’s voice trembled.
"For longer than any child should ever be."
Nova simply smiled.
"I’m not alone anymore."
She looked at Seraph and Yelena.
"I have a brother."
"I have a sister."
Yelena immediately knelt and hugged her.
"And you’ll always have one."
Nova giggled.
It was the first genuine laughter anyone had ever heard from her.
The sound spread across creation like music.
Halo suddenly projected one final notification.
---
Cycle 1,008
Status: Completed
Universal Stability: Restored
Threat Level: None
Congratulations, Guardian.
---
Seraph smiled.
"So..."
"We actually did it."
Halo laughed.
"We finally did."
Before anyone could speak again...
A small blue screen quietly appeared.
---
Would you like to begin Cycle 1?
A peaceful world without systems, Architects, or endless wars.
YES
---
Seraph looked around.
At Yelena.
At Halo.
At Nova.
At the countless alternate Nathans, who were slowly fading into light with peaceful smiles.
Iteration 327 saluted him.
"You don’t need us anymore."
One by one, the others followed.
"Live well."
"No more resets."
"Be happy."
"Take care of Halo."
"And don’t waste this chance."
Millions of alternate selves disappeared into the stars.
Halo silently watched every one of them leave.
Then Seraph reached toward the final screen.
This time...
There was no hesitation.
He smiled.
And pressed...
YES.
A brilliant white light swallowed everything.
The story of Nathan.
The journey of Seraph.
The age of the Guardians.
The era of the Architects.
All faded into history and somewhere, beneath a bright blue sky on an ordinary Earth...
A young man suddenly opened his eyes, unaware that he had just been given a second chance to live, here comes a start to a new beginning.
Nathan woke with a sharp gasp.
Morning sunlight streamed through his bedroom window.
Birds chirped outside.
A car horn echoed somewhere down the street.
Everything was... normal.
He sat upright, breathing heavily.
His heart pounded as if he had just survived another battle.
His room looked exactly as he remembered.
A small desk.
A laptop.
Books scattered across the floor.
A cracked phone charging beside his bed.
Nothing strange.
Nothing supernatural.
His mother knocked on the door.
"Nathan, you’re going to be late!"
He froze.
His mother’s voice.
He hadn’t heard it in what felt like lifetimes.
His eyes watered.
"Coming!"
He wiped his face before opening the door.
His mother smiled.
"You slept like a rock."
She paused.
"Why are you crying?"
Nathan laughed awkwardly.
"I had... a really strange dream."
She gently patted his shoulder.
"Dreams come and go."
"But breakfast gets cold."
She walked downstairs.
Nathan remained standing.
"A dream..."
He whispered the word to himself.
Was it really?
He walked to the bathroom and splashed cold water on his face.
When he looked into the mirror...
For a split second...
Another face looked back.
Seraph.
The reflection vanished immediately.
Nathan blinked.
"I’m imagining things."
He finished getting ready and left for university.
The city was alive.
Students hurried across sidewalks.
Street vendors called out to customers.
Children laughed as they chased one another through a nearby park.
There were no portals.
No monsters.
No cultivation.
No systems.
Just life.
Yet...
Nathan couldn’t shake the strange feeling that something was missing.
As he crossed the street, he noticed a little girl sitting alone on a bench.
Silver hair.
Blue eyes.
She couldn’t have been older than eight.
She smiled the instant she saw him.
"You found me."
Nathan stopped.
"I’m sorry?"
The girl tilted her head.
"You don’t remember."
Her smile didn’t fade.
"But that’s okay."
"You promised you’d remember next time."
Nathan frowned.
"Do... I know you?"
The little girl jumped off the bench.
"My name is Nova."
The name struck him like lightning.
Nova.
His vision blurred.
Fragments flashed across his mind.
A white field.
A lonely child.
A broken door.
A blue crystal.
"Brother..."
Nathan staggered backward, clutching his head.
The girl quickly caught him before he fell.
"It’s too early."
She looked genuinely concerned.
"You remembered too much."
Nathan stared at her.
"Who... are you?"
Nova smiled.
"I’m your little sister."
His mind rejected the answer.
Yet...
His heart accepted it without hesitation.
Before he could ask another question, someone called his name.
"Nathan!"
He turned.
A young woman stood across the street.
Long black hair.
Bright silver eyes.
She wore a university uniform and carried several books against her chest.
The moment their eyes met...
She froze.
He froze.
Neither knew why.
Yet both felt as though they had searched for one another forever.
Nova quietly giggled.
"There she is."
Nathan looked down.
"Who?"
"Your future."
The traffic light turned green.
The young woman hurried across the road.
She stopped in front of Nathan, looking embarrassed.
"I’m sorry..."
"This is going to sound strange."
She hesitated before speaking again.
"Have we..."
"...met before?"
Nathan smiled without understanding why.
"I was just about to ask you the same thing."
Nova took one step backward.
Then another.
She smiled happily.
"Some promises don’t disappear."
Her body slowly faded into tiny blue lights.
Nathan reached toward her.
"Wait!"
She winked.
"You’ll remember when it’s time."
The blue lights drifted into the clear morning sky.
Neither Nathan nor the young woman noticed.
Only a small blue butterfly landed briefly on Nathan’s shoulder before flying away.
The young woman held out her hand.
"I’m Yelena."
Nathan looked at her hand.
Then at her warm smile.
Something deep inside his soul stirred.
He gently shook her hand.
"I’m Nathan."
Far above the Earth...
Beyond the stars...
Halo quietly watched from a sky that no longer needed Guardians.
The blue World Core smiled.
"This time..."
"...just live."
And somewhere beyond creation, where stories never truly end, a single page turned by itself.
A new adventure had quietly begun.
