Chapter 1231: Chapter 400: When the EMP of a Nuclear Explosion Sweeps Across the Sky, Only the Thunderous Beating of the Human Heart Remains

Missing any place means you are one step closer to death for yourself.

Corpse after corpse fell onto the shattered rubble piles, crimson blood mixing with dirt to form a shocking black.

The sudden ambush left Connor Squad in panic; this was not just a few small teams outside. Judging by the looks of it, there were nearly two to three hundred people ambushed along the way!

They were now out of ammunition and provisions, utterly unable to engage with an enemy of this scale.

However, Connor worried too much, as the players in the city weren’t as strong as they had encountered; among them were quite a few local guerrilla fighters.

"How far are we from the military camp?"

The colonel gritted his teeth and said

"Five kilometers, once my men secure the road ahead, we’ll dash out."

"Where’s your drone?"

"They were shot down by this bunch long ago; the rest are hiding in the camp."

Connor just wanted to return to the camp, waiting for the promised pickup plane to arrive and take them away from this miserable place via Da Haguai.

"Then get your people to hurry up!"

The colonel’s heart burned with rage; if not for picking them up, would I need to leave my control zone?

Now you reinforcements hide in the car, refusing to fight, and still try to boss me around.

Da Haguai’s defenders still had the basic combat quality and fighting spirit, knowing infantry-tank coordination, wanting to compete with players for the buildings, intending to ensure anti-tank forces won’t threaten the armored convoy on the highway.

But those ruined by alcohol and drugs could never be a match for the born war maniacs, especially in the confined space indoors, tipping the scale in favor of the players.

Flame Happiness slashed two Soldiers rushing upstairs with his Frost of Ice in an instant, then grabbed an anti-tank plasma launcher, poked his head from the balcony, and fired.

The tank machine gunner also noticed him, hurriedly turned the gun to target Flame Happiness, but Killer 42 took a shot, blasted his head open, brain spilling out, body slowly reclining in the driver’s seat.

Then a flood of light hit the tank armor, thousands of degrees rapid heat melted through the exterior resistant enough against grenades, the entire crew’s bodies mingled with molten steel, shrieks echoed across the battlefield.

The tank was scrapped.

It, supposed to be the vanguard, now blocked the road as the biggest obstacle.

The colonel saw this and despaired; the enemy gathered such forces in the city without a word, and he, chasing after the illusory reinforcements, couldn’t return his ground once left.

"There’s no reinforcements at all... isn’t there."

He looked at Connor Squad with a bitter smile and said

"You are just like me... we’re all abandoned pawns."

Connor pursed his lips, not answering his question; all he wanted was to fly back behind the lines, not staying here awaiting death.

He tried reconnecting with command, but it seemed the communication devices were broken, as command didn’t reply at all.

Outside gunfire and explosions grew closer, even bullet collisions were heard on their armored vehicle.

"We can’t wait anymore."

He made up his mind, picked a rifle from the ground, and compared to the massive Power Armor, the gun shrank to a toy.

"Lafei, leave the box here, we’ll find a way to break out."

Zoe nervously asked

"Our ammo is depleted, we don’t even know how many are outside, going out’s not suicide?"

"Staying here is death too! I don’t want to be buried with these guys."

Connor kicked open the car door, jumped down first, the rest of the team helplessly left the nuclear bomb in the car and followed.

After all, now that the bomb was delivered, the rest was none of their concern.

But what Connor and the others didn’t expect, just after jumping off the car, they saw several hovercars on the distant horizon.

Zoe was thrilled

"Are those here to pick us up?"

"No... not those."

Connor saw several hovercars lowering a large thing with steel cables nearby.

Within a minute, the ground trembled beneath their feet.

A giant black spider appeared at the street corner, it paced armored legs six, vast body crammed with many deadly weapons.

The remaining tank, in panic, tried aiming at the newcomer to fire.

Chimera?

Great Mount Pill?

Or the player-exclusive [Zaku], just a laser stream pierced through the street, instantly breaching the tank turret, faster than Flame Happiness’s weapon.

Automatic cannons from the six legs shot without dead angles, each targeting soldiers for a headshot, the 30mm caliber bullets silenced them without exception.

Along with shattering the defenders’ fragile morale, the line began to collapse.

And 42 and others saw Connor and his companions who exited the vehicle, quickly tagged and shouted at them

"Mission targets spotted! Don’t let them escape!"

Dozens of players abandoned the demoralized defenders and charged toward them, the situation was even more thrilling than they encountered outside the city, especially with no weapons now.

Even worse, a truck appeared on the battlefield at an unknown time, its door swung open.

Five new Cybernetic Beings jumped down, only one had a head among them.

Connor saw Tutu appearing again, even pulled out a new explode body, his face only despair.

He never thought the situation could crumble to this point, the prior mission data never explained.

Connor truly believed the defenders here were still in a last-ditch stand.
