Chapter 123: Two Countries
There was no gun ban in this country, so they could buy whatever (basic) weapons they could find. As long as you had money and they had stock, it was not difficult to do so. There were even towns dedicated to arms-making.
They couldn’t afford tanks or jets, but things like bazookas were affordable.
And when Kael was finalizing some deals, she’d sneak into some of the warehouses with her various abilities and take in several (or a hundred) more weapons.
This steal was completely guilt-free. These guns would’ve been used to take the lives of innocents and sow chaos. They were doing good deeds!
Interestingly, the largest safari was en route from the weapons-making towns to their next destination, so they decided to take a small adventure along the way.
The experience was quite novel, and everyone was out of the space to see it. Fortunately, no ID was required when buying the tickets.
She secretly took a few pairs of each animal, whether it was the lions, rhinoceroses, giraffes, zebras, meercats, and so on.
The safari was a massive open area with a number of hiding spots. Even the zookeepers wouldn’t notice an animal was missing so early; they’d just assume it was elsewhere.
For this ’steal’, she was also completely guilt-free. Taking in animals, regardless of who owned them, was saving their lives.
The space was automatically the ideal environment for any plants. She didn’t quite know what it did, but any plants and animals thrived inside, so he had no qualms about checking the results.
The next place they went to was the petroleum source. The towns here were very rich, though naturally much of it was concentrated to a small number of people.
In this area, wealth was divided among gangs and the associated clans or families.
Interestingly, after a bit of investigation, they figured out the power play in the area.
The power and money primarily went through three clans, all of which had an associated gang. Just by living among the commoners for a day or so, it was easy to find out that most members of all three gangs were not good people.
After scheming a bit, causing the war between gangs to erupt, Naia and Kael took advantage to clear out their warehouses, pinning the blame on each other.
Other than petroleum, the gangs also had warehouses full of weapons, so they took all those too.
They lay low in cities and towns after that, with the group buying various items—necessary or not—from local wholesale stores.
While the family was filling up the various warehouses they rented out, Naia and Kael went to the final resource town—one that sold gems.
It was a tourist spot, so tourists could enter the enhanced mines. However, she didn’t know how Kael knew, but he brought her to another area.
Unlike her, Kael could teleport through walls, even if the destination was completely enclosed. He covered her eyes, and the next thing she knew, she was elsewhere, and inside the ethereal sight of a massive cavern lined with gems.
It was like she had entered some sort of fantasy world. Her pupils dilated so much, as if to absorb as much of the image as they could.
"It’s beautiful..." Naia couldn’t help but whisper as they walked along the mines with other tourists.
A masculine chuckle echoed next to her ears. "Nothing can ever be more beautiful than you, Naia," he said, and this was followed by softness touching her cheek.
Before Naia could react, the scenery changed, and the man next to her had disappeared.
Interestingly, he didn’t forget to bring her back outside before he ran away.
If it were before, she’d half-think that Kael disliked her. Now she knew that it wasn’t the case.
She absentmindedly touched the skin that had heated up due to contact.
"What a shy little wife I have."
...
They returned to the city where the family was and took in everything in the warehouse, making sure that there were no CCTVs active in the area. After that, they jumped to the next and final foreign country they’d go to before the Fall.
The second country was a country known for its farms and farm-related technology. It was located between tropical and temperate countries, making the area not too hot but also away from the main sources of conflicts.
It was also a very science-focused country and the origin of some top-of-the-line car brands. This included several specialty equipment machines. Kael was determined to also buy some materials so we could make more things.
"The seeds their research centers make are the best in the world," Kael explained. "With the multiplier effect of your space, this would be even better."
She gulped, already excited. The power of science, indeed!
They first went to a large factory dedicated to innovative farming equipment.
"It’s a place specializing in vertical farming," Kael said, introducing the place. He hadn’t been here before, but he had done his research, so he was serving as a tour guide of sorts to maximize the experience for others.
He knew Naia already had a few pieces of equipment, but this place was the pioneer, and they had a very active research and development team. There were plenty of models that were not easily bought outside, and some were not even out in public.
This country was actually a bit impressive. Its natural terrain was rocky and difficult to develop, so they leaned towards developing agriculture in a way that would handle their terrain.
It was also why he chose this country to buy equipment from. Wasn’t the land after the Fall dying, too?
The manager of the factory quickly appeared to greet them, introducing their items as tantalizingly as he could.
He gestured towards the rows of light green crops growing under LED lights. It had a sleeker design than the other rows. "Introducing the Agristack X27TM —our most advanced farming system ever! This is the future of vertical farming."
Each model was composed of stacked modular towers with 8 to 15 layers of crops per module. They had adjustable heights for different plant types, and the pot itself could also be adjusted for the plant’s comfort and health.
Each set had transparent light-diffusing panels that optimized sunlight while blocking temperature spikes. In the space, this was useless, but it wasn’t like her development was limited in the space. Staying there consumed some energy, so developing the outside world was still the priority.
It also had integrated LED lighting that could emit the full spectrum of rays, dynamically tuned for each crop type and growth stage.
In terms of functions, there was a lot. For example, there were nutrient misting systems with AI-adjusted formulas per species. The system had cameras and sensors to detect deficiencies, pests, and diseases before they got worse.
They also had several sets with more manual setups. After all, the advanced settings might not be the right fit for some situations.
The farms were also equipped with sustainable hybrid power systems. Hence, even if there was no sun, it could run on battery, fuel, and so on.
Other than the vertical farms factory, there were plenty of other machinery factories in the same industrial park, so it wasn’t difficult for Naia and the others to perform an ocular.
There were even autonomous robots with wheels that could prune, harvest, and monitor plants in real time! They bought a few of these! If there were more, they’d have bought them!
Basically, there were agricultural robots here! They were powered by AI, though. Fortunately, even if they sent signals back, the space isolated any signals, so she didn’t worry about putting them in the space.
However, if she wanted them to farm outside, they’d have to modify its programming to make sure it wasn’t recording data that it shouldn’t.
For the seeds, some were common rice, wheat, and various vegetables, but with improved yields and survivability. There were also seeds of combination fruits like peach mango, which was really interesting.
There were also some fruits and plants that were not endemic to Dania, like Mangosteen, jackfruit, kiwi, and so on. Endemic seeds naturally were better than the ones they could procure in their home country, though most of these seeds weren’t available in commercial channels.
She also bought state-of-the-art generators, water filtration systems, and atmospheric water generators. She bought small ones before, but the ones here were even more efficient.
This machine could gather moisture, filter, and create water. She bought medium-level ones that could produce 500-100L/day. Its size wasn’t too big either, just above 2 meters in height and a meter in width and depth.
And, while she was already here, she also bought the large industrial type, which could produce 5,000-10000L/day. She wasn’t activating it in her space as there was no need to, but it would be useful to sell to the base in the future.
Naia happily placed them all in her space, her heart really resting at the sight of her massive amount of supplies, especially the plantable land, which could support her and the family for the rest of their lives.
She smiled. Time to go home.
