Chapter 1102: Chapter 574: Mad Hunt Deity: Come Find Me!
"The [God of Commerce] Mercurius? It’s actually him!"
The position of the [Corridor of Truth] in the Eastern Continent is the lowest, the Source Tide is the most active, and numerous legends and knowledge resurrection are quite normal, but such occurrences are rare in the Silver Continent.
This land has been suppressed by the Silver Law for over a thousand years.
Even if the dregs of history churn up, any legend reviving as a Fourth Order Mythical Creature will be extinguished immediately.
Although the Church’s repeated hunts and inquisitions have killed countless innocents, they also caused those things to vanish into oblivion eight hundred years ago.
Only beings like the [God of Commerce] Mercurius, who manifested not long after entering the Silver Era, and timely possessed a human body, merging with collective unconsciousness, had a chance to grow.
Byron also wanted to use the [Echoes of History] to trace further back.
Only the scattered fragments of history that exerted an influence would typically be recorded.
But the opportunity is rare; relics like the Temple of Jupiter, closely connected to significant historical figures and sufficiently aged, are hard to find.
Even just a glance would allow Byron to unearth more information from ancient times.
For instance, what happened to the Silver Divine System of the Ancient Silver Empire? Why was the temple of the majestic Divine King destroyed?
The resurrection of knowledge requires a medium; why is the imprint of the God of Commerce left in such a place, and where are the other gods of the Silver Divine System?
Yet when the [Echoes of History] carried Byron’s gaze past the ’Traitor’ Mercurius, a sudden dark torrent blocked the path forward.
This meant he had reached the great catastrophe caused by the flood arrival during the last Era’s transition.
At this moment, Byron not only saw the most crucial historical milestone of the past few thousand years but also heard the rushing floodwaters personally around his ears.
The sound intensified, almost deafening, vibrating Byron’s spirituality along with it.
However, Byron was anchored with an entire massive [Golden Law]; even the [Silver Law] was a prospective major shareholder. Thinking that just a historical vision could lead him into depravity and loss of control was pure folly!
Moreover, after obtaining the [Sun Stone Calendar] and a considerable prophecy ability, Byron naturally had some strong perception towards matters of significant relevance to himself.
At this moment, he subconsciously felt that behind the flood, which made gods talk in fear, might lie crucial information imperative to him.
The impulse in his heart was much more intense than the vast flood before him.
Thus, without hesitation, he activated his authority, driving the [Nether River], with a nature akin to the Sea of Origin Matter, to fiercely charge at the water curtain before him.
"Open for me!"
Pop!
It felt like a layer of a bubble burst.
Byron finally saw the Temple of Jupiter and what the murals and reliefs looked like in their complete state, glorious and bustling.
But then, his eyes began widening as the sky filled with black smoke, countless divine lights clashed, shattered, and fell, with demigods flying everywhere, pseudo-gods as abundant as dogs.
The sun and moon changed color, blood rain fell, and all creation lamented.
Each strange celestial event signaled the fall of a god of at least the Fifth Order.
Sometimes, gigantic god-like corpses crashed to the ground, with shattered Demi-God Kingdoms exploding, tearing open large and small world rifts in the ’hull’ of the Material World...
It was a long while before Byron reacted:
"This is the Divine Battle of the Twilight of the Gods! And it seems this piece of Ancient Silver Empire land was one of the main battlefields."
Just then, a glorious meteor, emitting an endless god light and trailing colorful radiance in the sky, smashed down thunderously.
Half the island, including the partially protected Temple of Jupiter, collapsed instantly, with most of the nearby murals and reliefs shattered.
This meteor was one of the brightest among the countless gods in the sky.
The god light it emanated was far more intense than any Old God Byron had ever seen, yet it lacked the strong pollution that made one nauseous, instead carrying a strange sense of familiarity.
Byron hurriedly looked at the towering figure slowly rising from the wreckage, but the intense god light on the person was like a reality, piercing through Ravens and stinging his Fifth Order true body’s eyes, leaving no detail visible.
Yet, his heart in the chest suddenly thumped wildly for no reason.
"Who... is this?"
Driven by a strong premonition, he strained his eyesight to try to discern the figure clearly.
He strained until the whites of his right eye gradually filled with bloodshot veins, and the [Sailing Logbook] in his eye sped through pages from the pressure.
Perhaps ages, perhaps just a moment, but just when Byron thought his eyeball was about to explode.
The great god, clearly only existing in a segment of history, seemed to sense something and abruptly lifted its head to look over.
Byron’s gaze from his right eye suddenly locked with an... empty right eye socket behind the divine light.
Even though the empty eye socket was vacuous with nothing inside, it seemed to harbor a bright morning star, letters flowing as if materialized wisdom.
Byron could even directly interpret the emotion in the god’s eyes; it was a feeling of ’relief,’ accompanied by a piece of advice transmitted through its gaze:
"Come quickly and find me!"
