Chapter 215: Chapter 187: One-Shotted, Nothing Much to Say
Atop the high slope, Gus’s expression was grim.
He hadn’t expected his people to be so utterly overwhelmed by these Panda People Samurai, with almost no chance to fight back.
But what was done was done. He fixed his gaze on the human and the Panda People charging toward him.
’As long as I eliminate this human who is obviously their leader,’ he thought, ’the final victory in this battle will be ours!’
His eyes cold, he drew his bow and fired.
The massive Horn Bow was drawn into an exaggerated arc, its power not to be underestimated.
WHOOSH! With a sound that tore through the air, the Thunderbolt Arrow shot straight for the Lord’s head.
Levi had already noticed. This Centaur Leader, much like the Dragon Vein Dog-man from before, clearly controlled Elemental Power.
The lightning wrapped around the Arrow was as dazzling as a lightbulb in the dark forest, impossible to ignore.
"My Lord, dodge that arrow!"
Panda, following behind, yelled anxiously.
The power of his heart told him that if he were to take that arrow head-on, he would be in for a world of hurt.
The best solution was to dodge.
"Dodge?"
The Lord sneered, drew the Holy Sword from his waist, and swung with sublime skill.
BOOM!
Just as the Lord split the arrow down the middle, the Thunder Element contained within erupted violently.
"My Lord!"
Panda’s voice rang out, full of grief.
Ahead, the Lord’s entire body was engulfed in a ball of lightning, obscuring him from view. But it didn’t take a genius to know that this level of Elemental Power would roast a ploughing ox, let alone a mere human.
In that instant, a thousand thoughts raced through Panda’s mind—a mix of vexation, regret, and more.
"Foolishly overestimating his own strength."
Gus put away his Horn Bow. ’To dare take a direct hit from my Thunder Element-infused attack... Only that Minotaur could do something like that. How could a slightly stronger-than-average human possibly withstand it?’
"Who are you crying for? Your Lord isn’t dead yet!"
Just then, a calm voice rang out.
"My Lord... you’re not dead?"
Disbelief was written all over the massive Panda People’s furry face.
The ball of light dissipated. Arcs of electricity still flickered across the Lord of High Cliff Castle’s body, but aside from some torn clothes, he was completely unharmed, without a single scratch.
"You wanted me to die that badly?" Levi glanced at Panda, stretching his body with a comfortable look on his face.
To be honest, he hadn’t been completely sure of himself before taking that Elemental Attack head-on. But now, he just wanted to say that the Glowing Holy Word Treasure Manual was just too damn good!
This bolt of lightning, powerful enough to cook a steak well-done and then some, had only left him feeling a pleasant, tingly warmth.
Liya had once told him that besides increasing physical Power, the Holy Word Treasure Manual also greatly boosted one’s resistance to Magic.
Now, the Lord had seen the proof for himself.
However, he was saddened to realize that he seemed to be going down the path of a brainless berserker, never to return.
He vaguely remembered that his original dream was to be a Minstrel, mingling with circles of Noble Ladies.
Alas, circumstances had forced his hand.
"Tch." The Lord spat, beckoned to the Centaur Leader with his finger, and even had the leisure to smirk. "Is that all the strength you have? And you dared to stand in our way? This Lord has decided to sentence you to death. Any last words?"
"I’ll kill you!" Shocked and enraged, Gus tossed his Horn Bow aside, grabbed his door-panel-sized Broadsword, and charged. His several-thousand-pound body, enhanced by the Thunder Element, was like a freight train hurtling toward them—an absolutely terrifying sight.
There was nothing more to say. The matter would be settled by the blade.
The surrounding cannon fodder scattered in a rush, leaving a large, open space for the two to fight to the death.
Panda also retreated from the battlefield, a complex expression on his face.
’This Baron Levi... he’s much stronger than I thought...’
The Lord seized the initiative. The Giant Sword that had appeared in his hand whistled through the air as he unleashed a flurry of moves: Helicopter Slash, Bloody Waist Chop, and Smack the Cucumber.
Don’t be fooled by the intimidating names; they were actually the most simple and unadorned Martial Arts, which the Lord had simply given some flashy titles.
But though they were simple, they were also the most battle-tested. Only the souls of those who had died by this sword knew just how difficult it was to withstand the Lord’s opening three strikes.
An expert’s skill is obvious from the first move.
The moment their weapons clashed, Gus realized that the human before him was far, far stronger than he had imagined.
The man’s Power was unlike anything he had ever encountered; even that Minotaur paled in comparison. But the Thunder Element he naturally controlled was no joke either. With the enhancement of his Elemental Power and the force-redirecting techniques he had honed for decades, he actually managed to withstand the assault.
Ever since coming to the Wilderness, Levi had never met an opponent who could take three of his heavy blows. Moreover, his own strength had not stagnated; he was far more powerful now than before. He couldn’t help but look at this Centaur who withstood his attack with a newfound respect.
Then again, with that physique and the dense Thunder Element, this opponent was clearly no run-of-the-mill punk.
"Hahaha, not bad! You actually withstood this Lord’s three-strike combo. You’re a strong one! Let’s go again!"
The Lord laughed heartily, veins bulging on his arms. This time, he prepared to use 120 percent of his strength.
As an expert whose Power and Martial Arts were both top-tier, Levi was accustomed to using only seventy percent of his strength while holding thirty percent in reserve. But this opponent, so rarely encountered, was worthy of his full effort!
"PFFT!"
Hearing the Lord’s earnest praise, Gus was so overwhelmed he couldn’t catch his breath. He could hold on no longer. A mouthful of blood spewed from his mouth, blood vessels burst all over his body, and his massive frame crashed to the ground, where he began to twitch uncontrollably.
He had clearly collapsed from exhaustion.
He had just been putting up a strong front, assuming the Lord was suffering just as much. He never imagined that the previous assault was merely the Lord’s basic attack. Under this double blow, he could no longer hold on.
"Worri, he’s down already?"
The Lord’s sword, its momentum unchecked, slammed into a giant tree nearby. He then stared, completely dumbfounded, at the collapsed Centaur Leader.
’Wait, didn’t he look like he could take a few more hits just now?’
"My Lord, it’s because you’re too much of a monster!"
Si Kai, who had just rushed over, happened to witness the Lord’s overwhelming display of power once again and spoke in a hollow tone.
This was the same Centaur Leader who had once chased him down like a rabbit. He never expected him to fall at the hands of the Lord of High Cliff Castle today. He didn’t know whether to consider it fortunate or tragic.
"Where’s Fu Jin? Have him heal this Centaur. This Lord has a great use for him," the Lord said, waving his hand with a bored expression.
’I thought I’d finally found an opponent worth fighting, but he turned out to be another one I could finish in a few moves.’
’The High Cliff Castle Mamluks still need a captain. This Centaur Leader might just barely be qualified.’
