The sun cast its warm glow on the house, and before long, Lucien stirred awake.

Feeling the slight golden rays of sunlight brighten my vision, I gradually stirred awake.

Upon opening it, the system screen expanded vividly and a line of words appeared in my line of sight.

Thinking for a bit, I decided it was time to explore just what exactly the system shop was about.

"Oh, you’re awake?" before I could finish my command internally, a soft feminine voice entered into my mind.

As though it had intelligence, the soft blue screen vanished from my line of sight, not that my wife could see it.

Evelyn rolled her eyes once more and placed her phone on the table.

Taking a fork she immediately began devouring the pancakes her mother had prepared.

"Here..." Evelyn served me lightly, placing 5 pancakes on my plate before proceeding to serve hers.

"Avery had to attend to work so she went out early on." Evelyn explained while we ate breakfast.

Jane’s fork which was about to pierce into another piece of the pancake paused briefly, her brows furrowing in confusion.

The man hadn’t even asked, why was her mother explaining and reporting every minute detail to him?

For a moment she wondered if her mother had been bewitched by the man’s handsome appearance and flattering smile.

’Handsome?’ Jane scoffed internally.

Not like she was falling for his handsome appearance.

She sneaked a glance at him, at the way he elegantly ate his breakfast making it seem like a work of art.

For a moment it was as though her heart skipped a beat.

However Jane scoffed once more.

’I dont get what mother sees in him.’

Acting as though I didnt notice Jane stealing glances of me, I nodded at Evelyn.

"Alright," previously she’d informed me that her eldest worked at a firm so I wasnt too surprised.

"What about the..." just as I was about to ask about Sophie, a cute, petite lady rushed out from her room.

"I’m already late mom, so I can’t join you guys for breakfast,"

Sophie said with a hasty expression.

Stuffing her mouth with a pancake and picking two more she rushed outside so she wouldnt miss the bus.

"Take it easy..." before Evelyn could complete her words, Sophie had already gone, slamming the door.

Evelyn slowly shook her head with a light chuckle.

"She’s always like that."

I gently stroked Evelyn’s hand, "its alright, I’ll wake her up early tomorrow..."

"That’s so nice of you..."

Slam!

"I’m done eating," Jane didnt know why, but seeing her mother and Lucien show such affections in front of her made her feel a twisting sensation in her mind.

’What the hell is wrong with them?’ she muttered internally, losing her appetite completely.

"But you’ve barely finished your meal..." Evelyn tried to speak, but Jane had already picked up her phone and strode inside.

"Don’t worry too much about her..." I said to comfort Evelyn...

Evelyn was silent for some time before nodding and returning to her meal.

The two of us ate in silence.

After we were done, Evelyn informed me that she was going to get showered and prepare for work.

In the meantime, I offered to clear up the dishes since I basically had nothing to do.

Before long, Evelyn was dressed for work.

Staring at her, I smiled as I waved my hand.

As soon as Evelyn’s car sped off I didnt know why, but a sense of excitement appeared in my mind.

It was just me and Jane left at home.
