Chapter 117: 117: Half divine/Half Devil

While Artemis and Athena were having their conversation, the world continued its course. In the remote forest on the east coast, Damon opened his eyes after several hours sitting beside the stream, slowly purifying the earth around him. Night had already fallen completely, and the moon rose high in the sky, bathing the clearing in silver light.

Demeter had left hours ago. After spending some time with him, the goddess had returned to her own responsibilities, leaving Damon alone with the sound of the water, the movement of the leaves, and the natural energy that still flowed slowly beneath his fingers.

The redhead took a breath as he observed the forest. At the very least, the air felt better. The leaves of the trees had a slightly livelier green; it was not a complete solution... after all, healing the earth would be a process that would take much more than a single night of work. But at least he had made a meaningful beginning.

Damon closed his eyes for a moment and expanded his senses several kilometers around him. He felt some nymphs hiding among the trees, the occasional minor spirit, nocturnal animals coming out of their shelters, and a few monsters wandering aimlessly in the distance.

He was about to get up when a completely demonic energy he had not felt in a long time caught his attention. It did not belong to any Greek monster or anything related to his pantheon.

Damon raised an eyebrow as he recognized the energy of Devil’s from the biblical pantheon. With a single thought, his vision rose above the forest, moving through the night sky until it stopped over a small group advancing along a secluded path. There were six in total. A boy who seemed to be the leader, accompanied by five girls. Damon narrowed his eyes slightly. "How interesting," he murmured. "I don’t remember hearing about any treaty with the devils giving them free passage in my pantheon."

The redhead did not move a muscle. He simply stayed there observing. They were not especially strong, at least not by his standards. If he had to place them on a power scale, he would say they were a group of genin doing as they pleased. That said, he was very curious... Why was a group of devils here?. The Greeks and the devils did not really have much to do with each other.

Through his domain, Damon watched the boy walking at the front with an overly arrogant smile. The five girls followed closely behind him, speaking quietly among themselves while checking their surroundings.

"According to the reports, there are several half-bloods around here, near New York, so it should be easy to find some in this area, Lucien-sama," one of the girls said, looking at the device in her hand. "If we find a compatible one, we could take them before the Greeks realize it."

"What are you worried about, Maki?" Lucien replied with an arrogant smile. "The Greeks are busy with their own problems. Their pantheon just changed kings because of some Damon guy. They probably don’t even have time to keep an eye on a few half-bloods."

The demon let out a small laugh as he continued walking along the path. "Besides, we already did it with some yokai, and they’re under the protection of the Shinto. In my opinion, the Shinto are stronger than the Greeks, so there’s nothing to worry about."

"But, sir, are you sure?" asked another of the girls, clearly less confident. "What if he appears against us? I heard he defeated Zeus and the rest of the Olympians in their own palace."

Lucien let out a small laugh. "Exaggerated rumors. The gods always make their stories bigger. Besides, who the hell is Damon? He’s probably a nobody. The Greek gods have fallen pretty low if they lost to someone literally no one in the world knows." His smile became more mocking. "If I were Sirzechs-sama, I would have already taken over this place. They’re useless."

The demon looked toward the forest with poorly hidden excitement. "All we have to do is find a demigod, preferably a girl, reincarnate her, and take her with us. Imagine how much my prestige in demonic society would rise when they find out I literally have the daughter of a god under my control."

Lucien laughed with an unpleasant excitement, his eyes shining with greed.

"I can’t wait to have a demigoddess in my bed," he murmured with a perverse smile.

The girls accompanying him looked at him with disgust, though none of them said anything. There was little they could do. Several of them had ended up under Lucien’s control in a similar way, taken by the demon of the House of Agares and bound to his service without any real choice. The last thing they wanted was to spend the rest of their lives being hunted by devils or handed over to someone worse.

Damon’s eyes cooled slightly when he heard that. So that was why they were there. They wanted to take a demigod, turn them into a demon, and use them as a slave for their own benefit. The boy kept walking, unaware that every word was being heard. "Just imagine a child of a Greek god. Divine blood mixed with demonic power. If it goes well, even Sirzechs-sama will have to recognize us. Maybe I could even start a new demonic line. Imagine the possibilities," Lucien said aloud, with a smile full of ambition.

Damon stood up without hurry, shaking a little dirt from his fingers while his gaze remained fixed on the group kilometers away. He understood instantly what was happening. This gave him a small glimpse of what the outside world thought of him and his rise to the Greek throne. Clearly, some believed they could do whatever they wanted inside the Greek pantheon because of what had happened recently. Honestly, he was not surprised. Something similar had happened during the war against the Titans. When a power seemed unstable, others tried to take advantage. The redhead pushed those thoughts aside.

A second later, Damon disappeared.

The group of devils did not even have time to register his presence when the redhead appeared behind them, observing them as if they were already dead. "Well," he said in a calm voice. "I didn’t expect to find devils around here so soon."

At the voice, Lucien stopped abruptly, while the five girls tensed instantly.

"Good evening," Damon said.

Silence fell over the path. The demon at the front took a second to react, but quickly tried to recover his smile. Even so, the fact that this unknown man was staring at them with such calm disturbed him more than he wanted to admit.

Lucien’s smile wavered slightly. "And you are?"

Damon tilted his head slightly. "The owner of the territory you are currently standing in." The redhead gave him a cold look. "So you have five seconds to tell me why I shouldn’t kill you," the redhead said, releasing a minimal part of his power over the group.

The effect was immediate. Lucien lost all color in his face, and the group’s legs began to tremble. The arrogance shown just moments ago had already been completely replaced by a terror that Damon would swear meant this demon was about to shit himself.

"Y-You’re Damon..." Lucien murmured, taking a step back with difficulty.

Damon observed him without expression. "Is that all you have to say?"

Lucien quickly shook his head. "N-No, wait. This is a misunderstanding. We didn’t know this territory was being watched directly by you. It was an accident. We’ll leave right now and never set foot in Greek territory again, I swear."

Damon raised an eyebrow. "Is that so?"

"Yes, sir," Lucien replied immediately, nodding quickly. "We were just passing through. We had no intention of causing trouble with Olympus or with you." Lucien fell to his knees, bowing. "Please forgive me. It won’t happen again, I swear."

Damon took a step toward him, placing his boot on the boy’s head and pushing his face against the ground.

Lucien shrank in fear on the ground. The girls stayed in shock, too terrified to move.

"So you weren’t talking a few moments ago about taking one of my demigods, reincarnating them, and using them as a slave," Damon said calmly.

Lucien’s face paled. The urge to shit himself that he had right now was killing him.

Damon tilted his head slightly. "Nor were you talking about preferring a girl to increase your prestige and have her in your bed."

The five girls lowered their gazes, some with fear, others with a silent shame. Lucien swallowed with difficulty, understanding instantly that Damon had heard everything.

"I... I didn’t..."

"Don’t lie," Damon cut him off, pushing his head harder against the ground.

Lucien did not know what to say. Fear completely invaded him, his body still trembling under Damon’s boot. However, before he could find an excuse, the conversation was interrupted by the desperate voice of one of the girls.

"Wait," she said with fear, taking half a step forward. "If you kill him, the devils won’t let it slide. He is from the House of Agares. Do you think you can simply kill us without consequences?"

Damon slowly lifted his gaze toward the five girls. "Did I say you could speak?" the redhead asked. His voice was low, but loaded with murderous intent.

"N-no, sir," the girl replied immediately, losing all the courage she had gathered. "Then stay silent or I will erase you," the god said coldly. "I only wanted to warn you that—" She did not even have time to finish the sentence.

A black lightning bolt fell from the sky in an instant, followed by four more. They did not even have time to understand what had just happened. The dark light, charged with destructive power, descended upon the five girls and disintegrated them on contact.

Their presences disappeared in less than a second. Damon did not even blink.

"What the hell do I care if he’s an Agares... they can try whatever they want," he murmured to himself.

Lucien opened his eyes wide. His blood froze as he felt Damon had just erased his entire entourage without moving a single finger. Desperation and fear invaded him strongly.

"Please, sir, forgive me," Lucien cried, tears running down his face as dirt stuck to his skin. "I’ll do whatever you want. Anything. If you want me to suck you off, I’ll do it. Just don’t kill me."

Damon looked at him with disgust. "Sorry, boy," the redhead replied, letting a trace of amusement show in his voice. "I don’t swing that way."

Lucien began to tremble under Damon’s icy gaze. "You should have thought twice before talking about violating someone from my pantheon." Those were Damon’s last words before lifting his foot.

"No—"

But Damon’s boot descended with brutal force.

The sound of Lucien’s skull bursting against the ground echoed through the night, filling the path with blood and fragments.

"That was cruel of you, Damon," Gyuki’s voice was heard in the redhead’s mind. "You could have let them go so they could give the message to their leader."

Damon let out a low laugh. "And what difference would that make, Gyuki?" the redhead replied. "The devils are like cockroaches. Even with a warning, I have no doubt others will come. If I had sent him back with a message, it would only have intensified their hostility toward me."

His gaze remained cold over the demon’s remains. "Besides, it became quite clear that the outside world has no respect for us."

With that said, Damon disappeared with the wind. A second later, another black lightning bolt fell on Lucien’s body, erasing any trace of what had happened in that place. Leaving the trees as witnesses to what had occurred...
