Chapter 979: Chapter 979: Fighting Over a Woman

For a time, many of the young noblemen in the Happy Gate were all discussing among themselves, clearly treating Ye Luo as if he were merely Li Guangyuan’s lackey—after all, in Macau, the only one who dared to bid against the son of the Gambling King was this Young Master Li Guangyuan.

"Li Guangyuan, are you trying to compete with me for this woman?"

Zhang Huai glanced at Ye Luo, then turned to Li Guangyuan; it seemed he too thought the real bidder was Li Guangyuan standing beside Ye Luo.

"Of course not, it was Young Master Ye who just made the bid!"

Li Guangyuan shook his head; originally, he had wanted to make a bid to acquire this top-tier beauty, but once Ye Luo started bidding, he didn’t dare to continue.

"Are you fucking stupid? It was clearly me who shouted the bid just now. It seems you’re not only blind but also deaf!"

Ye Luo looked at Zhang Huai with a cold sneer on his face.

"You..."

Upon hearing such insults hurled his way, Zhang Huai looked infuriated, with anger flaring in his eyes.

The people present were taken aback, speculating about Ye Luo’s identity, for he even dared to curse at Zhang Huai.

"I bid thirty million!"

Immediately after, Zhang Huai hummed coldly, his face grim; he couldn’t lay a hand on Ye Luo, so he planned to win over this woman directly as a way to vent his frustration.

"Fifty million!"

Ye Luo, with a composed expression, called out a number, showcasing the same boldness he had once displayed at an auction in Capital City.

The audience, upon hearing Ye Luo’s nonchalant addition of twenty million, couldn’t help but gasp in astonishment.

Paying fifty million for a woman truly wasn’t something just anyone could pull off, not even these wealthy and influential young masters would go to such lengths.

After all, it was a complete disregard for money; fifty million could get you several top-tier celebrities. In the past, the highest bid for a beauty at Happy Gate had only been ten to twenty million, but now it had surged directly to fifty million, leaving people in awe.

Even Zhang Huai’s eyes showed a hint of surprise as he looked at Ye Luo, having not expected the young man to bid such a high price.

"Are you sure you can come up with that fifty million?"

Zhang Huai said with a mocking tone as he looked at Ye Luo.

Zhang Huai’s words prompted those around to sweep their gaze over Ye Luo and nod in agreement, echoing Zhang Huai’s skepticism.

After all, Ye Luo was dressed very ordinarily and didn’t look like any sort of noble, so how could he possibly have fifty million?

"That’s none of your concern," Ye Luo said with a playful expression.

"Don’t worry, Zhang Huai. Even if Young Master Ye can’t come up with so much money, the Li Family will cover all of it," Li Guangyuan said directly.

"Hmph!"

Hearing Li Guangyuan’s words, Zhang Huai’s complexion darkened, and he once more called out, "Sixty million!"

"One hundred million!"

Ye Luo said lazily, as if one hundred million was just an ordinary number that tumbled effortlessly from his lips.

However, everyone in Happy Gate was taken by surprise, particularly a certain woman who wore a stunned expression on her face.

Even the corner of Zhang Huai’s mouth twitched fiercely, and his body trembled. Although his family background was affluent, spending one hundred million on a woman was something he definitely couldn’t afford.

If he did that, he would be branded a profligate son through and through.

"What do you say? Are you going to raise the bid?"

Ye Luo looked at Zhang Huai with amusement in his eyes.

Zhang Huai’s gaze wavered, his fists clenched tightly, and his face became extremely ugly; under the current circumstances, if he didn’t raise the bid, he would completely lose face.

But to raise it would mean a massive sum, and he simply didn’t have that much money at his disposal.

"I heard you’re the Gambling King’s son; I’ll give you a chance. How about we make a bet on this?"

Ye Luo said, looking at Zhang Huai.

"You want to bet with me?"

Zhang Huai’s expression became stunned, and he looked at Ye Luo with complete surprise.

"That’s right, don’t tell me you’re scared? It seems the son of the Gambling King is all bark and no bite!"

Ye Luo chuckled.

"Hahaha!"

Zhang Huai burst into laughter, while the people present looked at Ye Luo with somewhat strange expressions.

This guy must be crazy. Zhang Huai’s father is the Gambling King, and he has grown up in a gambling environment since childhood. Though he is not quite the Gambling King himself, his gambling skills are definitely top-notch. And here this guy is, challenging Zhang Huai to a bet—this is practically suicidal.

"Fine, how shall we compare?"

Zhang Huai looked at Ye Luo with excitement, silently cursing this damned fool for daring to challenge him to a bet, thinking he’ll show Ye Luo how to die.

"Let’s bet on poker. Each person draws two cards, and we’ll see whose are larger. One round decides the winner. If I win, you give me a billion and this beauty. If you lose, then you give me a billion, and the beauty belongs to me."

Ye Luo said calmly.

"Okay, I’ll bet with you!"

Zhang Huai didn’t hesitate at all. He had been learning this most basic poker bet on high and low since he was a child, and it didn’t pose any challenge for him.

Subsequently, the casino brought a gambling table and a dealer, who took out a deck of cards and began to shuffle them ostentatiously. Ye Luo watched with a nonchalant gaze, whereas Zhang Huai’s eyes followed the dealer’s shuffling throughout the process.

Soon, the cards were shuffled and spread out in a line.

"You draw first!"

Ye Luo said indifferently.

Zhang Huai’s gaze lingered on the deck for a long time before he finally drew a card. Upon seeing it, a hint of joy appeared on his face.

Ye Luo swept the cards with his Clairvoyant Eye, and the opponent’s card became transparent, with its suit and number appearing before his eyes.

It was an Ace, which already counted as a very high card in this deck.

Then, Ye Luo casually drew a two. His gaze shifted back to the opponent, and Zhang Huai, after a long pause, slowly drew another card, which just happened to be another Ace, his face immediately showing a cold, smug smile.

Ye Luo sneered. This kind of game posed absolutely no challenge to him; he was merely amusing himself with this fellow.

Without any hesitation, Ye Luo once again casually pulled out another card, appearing to the onlookers as incredibly nonchalant.

"Hmph, I bet you’re just drawing blindly."

Zhang Huai looked at Ye Luo with a derisive smile, and those surrounding them held no hope for Ye Luo—it was clear he didn’t seem to know how to play cards.

"Show your cards, let’s see how big they are!"

Ye Luo spoke up.

"A pair of Aces. I really want to see what cards you’ve drawn!"

Zhang Huai displayed his cards openly—pair of Aces, unquestionably a powerful hand, and for a moment, everyone’s eyes swept towards Ye Luo.

"Show them, let’s see what two cards you’ve drawn?"

Zhang Huai looked at Ye Luo with a cold face.

"Sorry, but I just happen to have bigger ones!"

Ye Luo revealed his pair of twos. In an instant, Zhang Huai’s face turned as ugly as if he had eaten shit.

"Alright, you can go pay me that billion now, and this woman belongs to me."

Ye Luo smiled devilishly, his gaze brushing over the beauty from the Angel Race.

"This woman, I’m taking her!"

Just at that moment, a thunderous voice exploded out of thin air, making one’s heart skip a beat.
