Chapter 719: Chapter 680: Barbecuing the Komodo Dragon
Hearing this, Zhao Rong looked closer and saw that the two magical beasts—the Komodo dragons they had tightly bound just moments ago—had indeed vanished.
Lili scanned the room, searching for them. "Brother Zhao Rong, where could they have gone? If they escaped to report back, won’t we be exposed?"
Zhao Rong comforted her. "Miss Lili, you’re overthinking it. We’ve likely been under the Killer King Wang Jingang’s watch ever since we set out. I suspect he has a Crystal Ball that allows him to monitor our every move. That’s why he’s been able to place all sorts of villains at every checkpoint to try and kill the five of us."
When Yu Lan heard that the villain Wang Jingang might have a Crystal Ball to track their movements, she felt a chill. "Brother Zhao Rong," she said, "does that mean every step we take is being watched by him?"
Xuelian let out a long breath and chuckled. "Brother Zhao Rong, isn’t that a bit of an exaggeration? If Wang Jingang could see us in his Crystal Ball, wouldn’t that make our mission incredibly difficult?"
Zhao Rong thought for a moment before reassuring the three women. "Don’t be afraid. It’s just a guess for now."
Just then, the assistant found two small geckos in the bathroom, tangled in a mess of ropes. He quickly picked them up and brought them to Zhao Rong. "Brother Zhao Rong, I remember these magical beast Komodo dragons being huge just a moment ago. How did they shrink so small in the blink of an eye? They look just like ordinary geckos..."
Hearing this, Zhao Rong looked at the two tiny geckos and paused. Then, he pulled a vial from his pocket and explained to the assistant with a smile, "It’s possible that when I used the Shrinking Solution on that giant firefly monster, some of it accidentally dripped onto the magical beast Komodo dragons nearby. That must have caused them to shrink as well. I just didn’t expect them to become this tiny—even smaller than a regular gecko."
Lili looked at the two tiny, bound magical beasts and turned to Zhao Rong for his opinion. "Brother Zhao Rong, what should we do with them?"
Before Zhao Rong could answer, the assistant pointed to the toilet in the bathroom and laughed. "What else? Just toss these magical beasts in the toilet and flush them away!"
At the suggestion, Lili picked up the two tiny creatures and started for the bathroom. But before she reached the door, Zhao Rong stopped her. "Miss Lili, wait. I think it would be better to burn them to ash. If you flush them, they might survive and reproduce in the sewers. We could end up with a massive family of magical beast Komodo dragons, which would be an even greater danger to society and much harder to deal with in the future."
Taking Zhao Rong’s advice, Lili went to the kitchen and returned with two barbecue skewers. She grinned at him. "So, Brother Zhao Rong, your idea is to skewer these two Komodo dragons, grill them, and finish them off that way?"
When Yu Lan and Xuelian saw Lili actually threading the tiny Komodo dragons onto the skewers to roast them, they gasped in shock. "Lili, are you serious? You’re actually going to make kebabs out of them?"
Undeterred, Lili started grilling the skewers, sprinkling them with cumin and other spices. She smiled at Zhao Rong, Yu Lan, Xuelian, and the assistant. "Anyone want to taste my handiwork? I know I’m grilling Komodo dragons, but once you try a bite, you’ll find they’re much tastier than any lamb kebab you can buy." As she spoke, Lili picked up a brush, dipped it in nearby sesame oil, and basted the two grilling Komodo dragons.
Zhao Rong took a step back, clearly unwilling to try. "Miss Lili, I’ve seen all sorts of delicious things grilled, but never a Komodo dragon. Honestly, I don’t care how good you make it, I can’t bring myself to eat that."
Yu Lan gagged, looking disgusted. "Sister Lili, I could eat anything else you grilled, but not a Komodo dragon. They’re full of filthy things. Eating one would definitely make you sick or give you diarrhea."
Xuelian couldn’t accept it either. "Sister Lili, if you like it, please enjoy it by yourself after it’s cooked. I really can’t eat such a horrifying creature."
While everyone else was keeping their distance from the grilled Komodo dragons, the assistant stepped forward, licking his lips with a grin. "Brother Zhao Rong, Yu Lan, Xuelian, since none of you dare to eat Lili’s cooking, I’ll be the guinea pig! I’ll taste it first and see what it’s like. If it’s good, you can join me. If it’s bad... well, then I’ll be the one doing all the vomiting."
With that, the assistant took a skewer from Lili. He held it up and sniffed it, his eyes widening. "You know, I have to say... even though this thing looks terrifying and its saliva is full of bacteria, thanks to Lili’s amazing grilling skills, it smells incredible. I can barely stop myself from swallowing it whole."
The assistant then started to eat the grilled Komodo dragon skewer. Munching with relish, he described the taste. "Honestly, it’s a lot like a chicken kebab, except the meat is a bit chewier."
When Lili saw the assistant actually eating the Komodo dragon, she was stunned. "Wait!" she exclaimed, not having expected this at all. "I was only grilling them to kill them! I just added the spices and oil to make you all laugh! I know Komodo dragons are poisonous, so I never actually intended for anyone to eat them! But I can’t believe it, Assistant... you really became the guinea pig and ate it! I’m seriously worried you’re going to get sick!"
