Once Grtio had finally found the location of where his uncle was, he saved it to an external drive to be analyzed later. This was hardly the place to continue looking into things since at any moment the enemy could discover them.

"Okay, let’s get out of here." Kasandra said, leading the way back to the vent that they had come in through.

Yet unbeknownst to them, a major problem was currently occurring just outside of the warehouse.

"This isn’t good." Avery muttered.

Several people wearing combat gear and armed with near military grade weaponry had just entered the area and were carefully heading towards the warehouse Kasandra and Grito had snuck into.

With only a glance, Avery recognized them as the group that had attacked the Dauntless while it was in the hangar.

It seemed that after the battle, they had slowly and carefully made their way back to their base.

"A lot of them appear to still be injured, but this could be bad." Ezra said, observing their enemies’ movements.

Most of the force was heading inside, which was a problem on its own, but some of them were spreading out around the entire perimeter of the building. Before long they would have people stationed around the vent Kasandra and Grito had used to slip into the warehouse.

Avery brought his terminal up to his mouth, but he hesitated to call them. If their communication got intercepted, it would be all over.

"There’s no point in worrying now. They need to know."

At Jasmine’s insistence, Avery finally made the call to Kasandra. If everything fell apart because of this, they would just need to improvise.

"Avery, what’s going on? I thought we were supposed to maintain radio silence expect for an emergency?" Kasandra said, her voice a bit strained from being cramped inside of an airduct.

"Yeah, and we’ve got one. The remnants of the guys we fought in the hangar have just arrived here. Most of them headed inside, but they’ve spread out to guard the entire exterior of the building now. You won’t be able to get out without being noticed."

On the other side of the call Avery heard frustrated grumbling and a heavy sigh.

"Got it, but what should we do then? I don’t think that they’re going to find us here, so we could wait it out until it’s clear." Kasandra suggested.

However, Avery was less than enthused about such a plan. Not only was Kasandra straining herself right now, but there was no guarantee that a window of opportunity was going to present itself soon. The longer she and Grito stayed holed up in the airduct, the more they were going to wear themselves out. And it was only a matter of time until the guy they knocked out was discovered or woke up on his own.

"We’ll try and figure out a distraction on our end. Head right up to the vent’s exit and wait for the people watching the area to leave."

With that Avery hung up and started racking his brain for a way to distract the guards without causing a large commotion.

Obviously they could simply attack the front of the building to draw the people from the back away, but that could easily blow up in their face.

The Alliance Police might still have been busy with cleaning up the aftermath of the terrorist attack, but they certainly had enough leeway now to respond to a firefight breaking out.

’I also don’t have my power armor right now. I really want to avoid getting into a fight if at all possible.’ Avery thought, trying to come up with some sort of plan.

"Avery, I might have an idea." Jasmine said, her cheeks tinged red.

She then suggested something to him that a pair of her coworkers had once done to distract a pair of criminals guarding a building the police wanted to raid.

Bashfully, she whispered the plan into his ear, and his own face started to heat up.

Doing something like that in public would certainly get someone’s attention.

"They might recognize us though. If they start shooting, we’re going to be in trouble."

"We’ve both got personal shield generators on us, so a few blasts won’t be a problem. Plus, you fought in your power armor the entire time and I was inside the Dauntless. So, I don’t think they’ll know what the two of us look like. Probably."

Avery rubbed his eyes and sighed as he considered Jasmine’s plan. It was a big gamble, but if it worked, then it would serve as a good enough distraction.

Nevertheless, they would be putting themselves at risk, so Avery asked Ezra to be ready to jump in if things turned sour.

"Now we need to look the roles that we’ll be playing."

Despite how embarrassed she looked, Jasmine nevertheless started taking her pants off.

While Avery felt it was absurd, Jasmine’s plan was to pretend to be oblivious lovers that just so happened to wander into the area.

This would certainly catch the guards’ attention, Avery just hoped not in the wrong way.

As he was unbuttoning his shirt, Jasmine suddenly came up to him and started sucking on his neck.

"It will be more convincing if we have some visible marks. Now you do me." Jasmine said, pulling aside her hair and exposed her neck. Enjoy new adventures at freewebnovel

This was not the first time they had done something like this, but it certainly felt embarrassing doing it out in the open. Almost to the point that Avery wanted to suggest that they just go in guns blazing instead.

"Did members of the police really do something like this? And it worked?"

"Yeah, you’d be surprised at how easily people get distracted by something like this. Well so long as they’re humanoid. I don’t think a bunch of Baccigans would particularly care." Jasmine said, laughing to disperse some of her nervousness.

Already having come this far, Avery simply sighed again and continued to dishevel his and Jasmine’s appearance. All the while hoping that this plan would actually succeed.
