Chapter 2324: Chapter 658: Broken Walls and Ruins, Wind City! (Part 2)
Purgatory, this is purgatory on earth!
The black helicopter gently landed on a stretch of open ground, the cabin door opened, and An Yiqing followed the Hong Ci team members down. At this moment, a red-haired man caught her eye, An Yiqing’s eyes lit up slightly, Tan Yulin!
"Xiao Qing, you’re finally here!" Tan Yulin erupted with joy at seeing An Yiqing, immediately pushed his team members aside, extended his big hand to grab An Yiqing’s arm, "Quick, follow me!"
An Yiqing allowed Tan Yulin to pull her along, she signaled to the Medicine Sect disciples, Nie Yuan and the others hurriedly followed. This group wore the Medicine Sect’s distinctive long white shirts and pants, standing out among the crowd of earthy and military greens.
Tan Yulin pulled An Yiqing into a tent. This large tent was a temporary rescue command base established by Hong Ci, countless Hong Ci team members dressed in dark green camouflage carried stretchers in and out, while others were hauling various rescue materials out of the tent, delivering them to disaster victims at other rescue points.
As An Yiqing entered with Tan Yulin, Gu Yelin was discussing the upcoming rescue plan with several senior commanders from Xuanjin. He was dressed in dark green camouflage, wearing black combat boots, and the stars on his shoulders were dazzling. Even amidst the chaos, he was mesmerizing. In this tent, he was like a beacon, a pillar, everyone occasionally glanced at him, finding their hearts at ease.
Sensing someone watching him, Gu Yelin turned to the entrance. Upon seeing An Yiqing, his dark eyes shone briefly. The other commanders followed his gaze, upon seeing An Yiqing they suddenly understood.
The man strode over, his iron-blooded steps carrying an aura of killing intent.
"Is everyone here?"
An Yiqing nodded, "All the disciples are here."
"Good, I’ll entrust this to you." Gu Yelin patted her on the head, his voice slightly softer, "Stay safe."
An Yiqing gave a faint smile, politely greeted the people behind Gu Yelin, and then began organizing the Medicine Sect members for rescue efforts.
Her tasks were twofold: first, treating the injured; second, researching the strange plague.
"Everyone, we will split into five groups." An Yiqing gathered the Medicine Sect members, starting the arrangements, "Senior Brother, you lead a group here to manage the injured brought by Hong Ci. Second Brother, Fourth Brother, Fifth Brother, each lead a group, focusing on three directions — east, south, west from the tent for rescue operations. Third Brother, follow me to the north. If you need anything, use the radio to communicate, hopefully the communications cable can be repaired today, which would make things easier."
After An Yiqing finished speaking, everyone divided into different paths, embarking on a difficult and dangerous rescue mission.
The north side of Wind City has the most hazardous terrain. This area is mostly rural, surrounded by hills that could collapse at any moment. An Yiqing and the Third Brother Qin Yue led a small team of Medicine Sect disciples, carrying medical kits, embarking on their rescue journey.
Throughout the journey, they rode several small motorcycles procured by Gu Yelin, traversing the muddy and rocky mountain roads. These paths were full of small lanes; ordinary cars couldn’t pass through smoothly. Riding her motorcycle, An Yiqing saved people as she went, arriving at a small town, her clothes spattered with mud.
The town closest to Wind City’s center was the most severely impacted by the disaster. Though it was once considered a county-level city, the disaster caused newly constructed high-rises to collapse, many beautiful villas built by the residents lay in ruins.
As An Yiqing rode her motorcycle into Q Town, chaos was everywhere. Among the ruins, two bodies caked with dirty blood, indistinguishable as male or female, lay there. Next to them a boy, about five or six, lay on the bodies wailing, his voice hoarse. Blood covered his forehead, mixed with tears cascading down, pitifully. Around him, several families clutched bodies, some sat numb-faced, others wailed over bodies, many injured lay groaning in pain.
"Why hasn’t rescue arrived in this town yet?" An Yiqing frowned.
Qin Yue glanced around, "There’s a stretch of mountain road from the city center to here, probably collapsed mountain roads trapped the rescue vehicles midway."
