Father Xia was silent, everything An Yiqing said was true. Xia Hao’s fate was just like that; he couldn’t change it. Could he possibly change his son’s blood? Honestly, all parents worry about their children getting hurt, but now that things are settled, worrying more wouldn’t help. Father Xia sighed deeply. An Yiqing smiled, knowing that the man, who had been straightforward all his life, had understood.
"Xiao Qing, Uncle has a request that might be improper."
"Please, go ahead."
Father Xia pondered for a moment, "I trust your and Elder Master Ye’s medical arts. If anything happens to Haozi in the future, I hope you..."
Realizing what he meant, An Yiqing solemnly nodded, "Uncle, rest assured, Haozi is my friend. If anything happens to him, I will definitely do my utmost to save him!"
"Ah, that’s good, that’s good." Father Xia was relieved. Children have their own blessings; he just has to do his work at the back end and not let his children worry, which is better than anything else.
That evening, An Yiqing examined Father Xia’s condition, which was good. However, due to being bedridden for an extended period, he will need systematic rehabilitation in the coming months to fully regain his mobility. Although Mother Xia has yet to wake up, Xia Hao is confident he can awaken her, given his father’s precedent.
After An Yiqing left the hospital, Xia Hao and Ruan Xue stayed in the ward with Father Xia. Despite Father Xia repeatedly urging Ruan Xue to go home, the young girl was stubborn, insisting on staying to take care of him. Father Xia was helpless but deep down was comforted that his son had found such a considerate girl.
Meanwhile, after leaving the hospital, An Yiqing drove directly to the small villa. Gu Yelin had already returned home from work and was sitting on the sofa in the living room, fiddling with his computer. Seeing An Yiqing open the door and come in, he stood up, walked over, and hugged her slender waist, kissing her on the forehead.
"How is Xia Hao’s father?" Gu Yelin was always concerned about the people around his wife.
"He’s awake and his health is good. He’s just a bit bewildered about Haozi’s identity. Haozi doesn’t plan on telling Uncle that he’s from the Blood Clan." An Yiqing leaned tiredly against Gu Yelin, allowing him to pick her up and place her on the sofa.
"What will you do in the future?"
"In the future?" An Yiqing raised her brows. "Uncle and Aunt are ordinary people. They might never know Haozi’s identity during their lifetime, which is a form of protection and comfort for them. Haozi doesn’t plan on changing Uncle and Aunt into the Blood Clan. As children, we all probably hope our parents live a peaceful, joyous life and pass away without worry." She sighed internally, deeply understanding Xia Hao’s thoughts. He’s no longer human, and if his parents knew, it would only add burdens. They might be incredibly worried during their final moments. The best approach is to keep them in the dark and let them live their lives peacefully.
Sometimes, being deceived is also a form of happiness.
An Yiqing snapped out of her thoughts and looked up at Gu Yelin, who was typing away at his keyboard. "Ah Lin, have you had dinner?"
"Yes, I had some at Mom’s when I got back." Gu Yelin replied, his eyes still on the computer.
An Yiqing knew he was referring to his own mother, Kong Shi, and nodded. She curiously looked at the computer, "What are you working on?"
"Designing the Valley of Gods’ defense network."
Only then did An Yiqing remember that before going to Country Fei, she had entrusted the Valley of Gods’ security to Gu Yelin. Hearing about the fortress being built at the Valley of Gods, An Yiqing became intrigued and sat up from Gu Yelin’s embrace.
"How’s the design coming along?"
With a face full of delight, her cheeks were pink, and her sparkling eyes shone. Gu Yelin chuckled and playfully tapped her bottom, carefully explaining his work to her.
An Yiqing looked at Gu Yelin in admiration. Although she wasn’t well-versed in these things, she felt that this man in front of her was truly omnipotent. According to his design, not just enemies but even a fly wouldn’t be able to get in.
"Ah Lin, how are you so incredible?"
Gu Yelin looked at the adoring young woman with indulgence, smiled, and tweaked her nose, embracing her soft body.
