Chapter 2301: Chapter 654: Mr. Yi, Come Home_4

Smith was about to lose his mind. A few days ago, he’d been sleeping soundly when a few bombs almost blew his main base to hell. All the finished arms stock vanished overnight, the loss was beyond imagination. Sensing something was off, Smith immediately called Anpei Lan asking for backup. But trouble suddenly hit the Anpei Family, Anpei Lan was swamped and had no time to come over at all.

With no other choice, Smith could only handle it himself. But before he could even come up with a response strategy, An Yiqing’s second wave of attacks arrived. She led the Thirteen Blood Generals and the Four Divine Beasts straight into Smith’s lair, slaughtered everyone in the villa, and Smith only managed to escape through a secret tunnel under the cover of a few of his men.

Right after that, during his escape, An Yiqing kept ambushing him at random times. The men under An Yiqing’s command were like lunatics—whenever they saw him, they rushed him with their weapons without a word. The Black Horn Region was so big, yet he was chased so hard he had nowhere left to hide.

Now, after finally finding a place to hole up, Smith could finally breathe a sigh of relief. He’d been hunted for eight or nine days straight and still hadn’t figured out what the hell was going on. To put it bluntly, he’d been beaten dumb.

"Boss, what do we do now?" Bodyguard A asked.

Smith stayed silent, rapidly analyzing the current situation in his head. He could no longer go back to his base in the Black Horn Region, and his arms headquarters had been destroyed. At this point, the only option was to leave the Black Horn Region and head to his second major base in Country Zi, lay low for a while, then start over.

"Contact our people in Country Zi to pick us up, we have to move right now!" Smith said, hanging his head.

"..."

Bodyguard A didn’t respond. It was dead quiet, so quiet it was terrifying.

A surge of unease rose in Smith’s chest. He turned around quickly and saw all his personal bodyguards lying on the ground, lifeless. In each of their necks, a cold-glinting Silver Needle was sticking out.

His pupils shrank hard. Only one person used this kind of Hidden Weapon—An Yiqing!

Smith gripped his gun tight, pressed his back against the wall, and shrank his whole body behind cover. His forehead was drenched in cold sweat. Those bodyguards had died without a sound, and the pressure on him was immense.

Just then, footsteps sounded at the stairwell. Smith’s hair stood on end, and he held his breath.

The footsteps drew closer and closer. Smith even felt like whoever it was was already right in front of him, but he couldn’t see a single shadow.

He was frantically calculating how he should escape in his mind when the footsteps suddenly stopped, and a white figure appeared out of thin air right before his eyes.

"An—Anan—what are you, human or ghost?!" Smith was more terrified than he had ever been. A living person popping up from nowhere—anyone would be scared half to death.

An Yiqing arched a willow brow, her figure flashed forward, and she grabbed Smith by the collar. "What do you think?"

The girl leaning in close let Smith feel the warmth of her body, but right now he wished to god this woman was a ghost. These days on the run had carved an indelible fear of An Yiqing into him. She wasn’t a woman at all—she was a demon.

"Anan, Miss An! I have something to say!" Seeing An Yiqing dragging him off, Smith hurriedly shouted.

An Yiqing halted, gave him a playful look. "Talk."

Smith was sprawled on the floor, utterly disheveled. But he couldn’t care less about that now. This woman was too terrifying; he was truly scared.

"Miss An, I want to make a deal with you. You spare my life, and I’ll give you everything in the Black Horn Region."

An Yiqing laughed. "You think you’re in any position to make a deal right now?"

Smith’s face flushed, and he shook his head quickly. "N-no, I can tell you a secret! A secret about Anpei Lan!"

"I’m not interested." An Yiqing said, about to make a move, but stopped because of Smith’s next sentence.

"Miss An, don’t you want to know what Anpei Lan has been doing all these years?! He’s brewing a huge conspiracy!"

The building was deadly silent. An Yiqing lowered her eyes to look at Smith and suddenly recalled the fund flows in Anpei Lan’s private accounts that she had investigated. A conspiracy? What conspiracy?

"Go on."

Smith let out a breath of relief. "Miss An, if you promise to let me go, I’ll talk."

An Yiqing shot him a look, brows raised, impatience in her eyes. "If you talk and I’m satisfied, I’ll let you go. But if you don’t talk, you die now. Don’t try to bargain with me—you’re in no position to."
