Chapter 1391: Chapter 798: Wanwan’s Assist? Helping Third Brother Keep His Wife (Part 2)

The hospital registration hall was bustling with people, all looking anxious and busy. Tang Wan’s appearance didn’t draw too much attention.

"What’s wrong with you?" Tang Wan frowned, sitting down next to her. It wasn’t until she accidentally touched her arm that she realized her body was icy cold.

"Stomachache, an old problem."

Lin Luyou’s face was pale, and her lips were bloodied from biting due to the pain, making it difficult for her to speak.

Engaged in scientific research experiments and tackling experimental challenges meant there was hardly time for sleep, let alone eating.

"Are you here alone? Did you register?" Tang Wan saw her suffering, "My godfather is here. Should I take you to see him first?"

"No need, my assistant came with me and is helping me with the registration." Lin Luyou’s forehead was covered in cold sweat, indicating severe pain.

She naturally was someone who disliked troubling others, even more so with Tang Wan, nor did she want to trouble her godfather.

Just then, her assistant also rushed over to greet Tang Wan politely, "Leader, it’s done, the gastroenterology department is..."

The assistant wasn’t familiar with the hospital and was hurriedly looking for a map.

"It’s on the third floor, I’ll take you there." Tang Wan was very familiar with the hospital as she had accompanied Jiang Jinsang during his hospitalization and surgery for a long time. Lin Luyou wanted to refuse but was in too much pain, completely out of strength, unable to even speak, obliging Tang Wan to support her.

Having someone familiar was surely better than running around like headless chickens.

Luckily, there weren’t many people in the gastroenterology department today and after waiting for over ten minutes, it was their turn. The doctor had her lie on the bed and examined her.

He slightly pressed a few places, causing Lin Luyou to sweat profusely from the pain. Her assistant stood nearby, looking anxious, even his back was drenched.

"Do you just feel stomach pain, or are there other uncomfortable areas? Like bloating..." The doctor asked her.

"Recently, she’s been feeling nauseous and retching." Lin Luyou was unable to speak, and her assistant quickly supplemented.

"How long have these symptoms persisted?"

"Just the last couple of days, possibly too busy."

Recently, there was a major crackdown on entertainment venues city-wide, and the police station’s manpower was insufficient, often sending urine samples to the laboratory for testing.

It wasn’t a bothersome task, just that the workload suddenly surged. Lin Luyou already had ongoing research projects, the strain on her body was inevitable.

"Even when busy, you need to eat regularly and rest; this is an old stomach problem. Have you taken any medication recently?"

"Well..." The assistant quickly handed the medicine box to the doctor, who glanced over it.

After examining her, the doctor seemed to notice Tang Wan as well – Zhou Zhongqing’s goddaughter, someone almost everyone in the hospital knew, "Why are you here?"

"Uncle Liu." Tang Wan acknowledged him, "She’s my friend."

"Your friend is young, but her stomach issues aren’t short-lived. Young people nowadays really don’t take care of themselves. I’ll give you some medicine to make you feel better and then get some tests and a blood draw..."

The doctor looked at Lin Luyou somewhat helplessly, "Do you often not eat on time?"

Lin Luyou was in too much pain to speak, leaving her no energy to answer his questions.

"What kind of work do you do, why push this hard?" While prescribing medicine, the doctor asked, "So young and already have stomach problems."

"At the laboratory." Tang Wan answered.

"No wonder, those in research act as if they’re unafraid of death. Health is the true capital. You’re young, don’t wreck your body." The doctor gave a prescription and urged the assistant to fetch the medicine.

As the assistant went to get the medicine, the doctor gently pressed Lin Luyou’s abdomen, bringing her a slight sense of relief.

"Leader Lin, drink some water." Tang Wan helped her pour a cup of warm water.

"Thank you." Lin Luyou hadn’t anticipated encountering Tang Wan, and felt grateful for her company.

"You should stop working these days, better to rest for a few days and take proper care of yourself. If this continues, it could lead to gastritis, stomach ulcers, or worse, even stomach cancer." The doctor intended to scare her a bit, hoping she’ll rest more.

Sure enough, Lin Luyou’s face turned white, and even Tang Wan felt her eyelid twitch at those words.

"Uncle Liu, can it be that severe?" Tang Wan watched Lin Luyou, who was merely in her twenties, could it really be stomach cancer?

"Why not? Her stomach condition has persisted for quite a while. They rely on being young and neglect their health; in the end, they spend their earnings in the hospital. Do you think it’s worth it?" The doctor sighed.

Lin Luyou held the water cup, sipping little by little.

She was uncharacteristically obedient, her doe-like eyes looking innocent and somewhat helpless, reprimanded by the doctor and not daring to speak.

Tang Wan wanted to ask why Third Brother didn’t accompany her, but she wasn’t clear on their relationship.

On the Si Family’s birthday banquet day, Lin Luyou had confronted Jiang Shiyi in front of their entire family, Tang Wan was there to witness, unsure of their relationship and thus didn’t dare to say anything rashly.

Soon the assistant came jogging back, and with the warm water Tang Wan poured, Lin Luyou took the medicine. After about ten minutes, her complexion improved.

"Feeling better?" The doctor asked her.

Lin Luyou nodded, "Thank you."

"Here’s the slip, take these for testing, return with the results. Don’t randomly take stomach medications available on the market; your body might have developed a resistance. If the pain persists, check with a doctor promptly."

"I understand." Even those with the hardest backbones and the boldest mannerisms become quite cooperative before a doctor.

Tang Wan was witnessing Lin Luyou’s obedience for the first time.

"Did you skip breakfast this morning?" The doctor looked at her, Lin Luyou lowered her head, not daring to look anymore.

"After your tests, have some porridge; don’t consume any spicy or stimulating food recently – health is your own." Encountering someone this young with stomach problems, the doctor couldn’t help but repeat a few extra warnings.

Lin Luyou listened obediently.

The doctor initially suggested hospital observation, which she refused.

With nothing much to do, Tang Wan accompanied her for several tests.

With her company, they didn’t follow any detours. Perhaps they had already passed the peak flow, completing the tests didn’t take much time.

Along the way, Tang Wan roughly learned that Lin Luyou pulled an all-nighter last night. Her assistant arrived early in the morning to find her sprawled over the desk, initially saying it was a stomachache; taking stomach medicine didn’t alleviate it, leading to a hurried trip to the hospital.

"Third Brother works with your team, right?" Tang Wan cautiously asked the assistant.

The assistant, slow on the uptake, suddenly recalled Jiang Shiyi’s connection to Tang Wan, "Yes, Third Brother is on our team."

"Does he know the team leader came to the hospital?"

"The team leader didn’t let me tell him." The assistant also seemed troubled.

Typically when a young girl is unwell, she desires her boyfriend to accompany her all the time, but instead, their team leader forbade the assistant from informing Jiang Shiyi.

Work at the laboratory is abundant, late nights are normal. Everyone’s routine is quite irregular, and there aren’t strict rules about working hours – any excuse can brush off explanations to Jiang Shiyi.

Tang Wan nodded, contemplating.

If there wasn’t anything between them, regardless of any mishap, Lin Luyou wouldn’t need to hide it from Jiang Shiyi. The secrecy, rather, revealed some clues.

More crucially, that day Jiang Shiyi was with Fourth Brother "meeting the parents," yet in urgency, he also went to find her.

Their relationship wasn’t simple...

Thus, when Lin Luyou underwent the blood check, Tang Wan discreetly called Jiang Shiyi.

Jiang Shiyi really didn’t know Lin Luyou went to the hospital, assuming she had been called by the police station again or was busy with something else, only arriving at the laboratory upon receiving Tang Wan’s call, somewhat surprised.

Typically if anything came up, Jiang Jinsang was the one to contact him; he barely contacted Tang Wan privately.

"Third Brother..."

"Anything up?"

"I took Mutang to the hospital for a vaccine today and ran into Leader Lin."

"Hospital? Is she there for work or..."

It’s not strange for laboratory work to involve interactions with hospitals.

"Stomach pain, she’s undergoing examinations."

"It’s the hospital where Uncle Zhou works, right?"

"Yes."

"I’ll head over immediately." Jiang Shiyi knew about her stomach issue, it seemingly hadn’t relapsed for a while. She was young and had undergone some recuperation a while back. He hadn’t expected her to push herself into the hospital.

...

Tang Wan anticipated Jiang Shiyi’s arrival, naturally wouldn’t let Lin Luyou leave after the examination.
