Chapter 1079: Chapter 599: Mission—Destroy the Pigman

"The bay is such a damn unbearable place; the fishy stench seeps into you."

Lance was venting to Grendel. Trapped in the bay for days, he could only talk to Wang Cai; if someone with a slightly weaker mental resilience were here, they’d definitely get fish depression.

"Such big crabs, haven’t you tried them?" Grendel, used to Lance’s rants, laughed and played along.

"I don’t dare eat them; I’m afraid I’d glow in Pennsylvania at night."

Lance wasn’t one to shove everything down his throat; those things look like they’ve overdosed on nuclear wastewater, not normal creatures.

They could even be human mutations for all he knows.

"Now that the sea is open, you can eat seafood."

"Don’t mention it, smelling fish makes me want to puke."

"..."

The two chatted as they walked back to town. People seemed to work more efficiently when they saw him around.

Because whenever the Lord showed up, there’s no chaos in Hamlet.

They stopped when they reached the Lord’s Mansion. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

"I just want a good wash now to scrub away the fishy smell."

"And then rest well," Grendel added with undeniable conviction, "I’ll handle the rest."

"Alrighty~!" Lance agreed with a smile, as if he wanted to argue otherwise. He’d love to lay back and enjoy every day.

Then he suddenly remembered something and added.

"Oh right, pirates!"

Lance shared what he had heard; apparently, even before this, news of Hamlet was spreading in the pirate dens.

"Who do you think it is?"

"There are too many possibilities, just those who’ve drunk or eaten Hamlet’s blood and flesh and fear his revenge."

But it doesn’t matter; pirates from around have plundered Hamlet before. They’re welcome; materials at the sanatorium are getting used up quickly."

Lance spoke about this casually. Back when the navy had no men or ships and the coast was defended by just two cannons, he would worry.

But now with the No Light at hand, he wished more pirates would give their lives to help repair it.

The ships and equipment desperately needed for Hamlet could now be delivered directly.

The sanatorium could replenish some supplies, and there were more discoveries recently, increasing Paracelsus’s applications.

Lance kept talking endlessly.

"Speaking of which, I’ve brought back that captured pirate ship. Get it cleared and find some crew to sail to Totnes with two fast ships to pick up people."

Now we should make some profit on this route first, and tell Totnes merchants the Hamlet problem is solved, the sea route is clear."

The ship was a pleasant surprise; though old, it’s still usable. Train some sailors, and make some money transporting goods.

People would surely want to come to Hamlet, spending money for a boat is normal.

Initially, Grendel listened earnestly, but something felt off, and she suddenly realized, reminding him.

"What was I saying just now, does such a small matter need your attention? Go and rest quickly."

"Just a habit, really," Lance finally stopped, turning back while mumbling to himself: "Haha, time for me to enjoy life..."

But as soon as he finished speaking, an old familiar hawk perched atop the doorway, and Laura emerged from inside.

Making Lance suddenly freeze; his smile gradually faded, eyes darting between Laura and Grendel, muttering: "You guys coordinate pretty well~"

Grendel was surprised, busy as a bee when Lance wasn’t around. Wondered when Laura had returned.

A visible hint of exasperation appeared on her face, thinking something might have happened just as she got back...

"The Lord has been busy for days, if there’s anything come talk to me instead."

Grendel tried to hold off Laura; if it’s not urgent, let him have his rest at least.

Laura’s steps hesitated as her eyes scanned under the hood.

But Lance approached, speaking gently.

"It’s okay, whatever it is just tell me, is there trouble?"

Lance knew Laura’s style, but the stiff walk today, the tired face, and the deep-seated fear in her eyes told him something happened.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t be waiting here for him.

For Laura, seeing the Lord personally eased her anxiety, and watching him walk toward her brought an inexplicable sense of security.

His voice seemed to possess magical power, easily soothing the unease in Laura’s heart.

"In the Beast Lair, I saw a Meat Mountain worshipped by Pigmen as a god."

Laura’s words made Grendel frown, not entirely understanding its meaning.

But Lance appeared thoughtful, and the first question wasn’t about the Meat Mountain but...

"How are you? Did you get hurt?" Lance gently placed his hand on her shoulder, channeling the Bless to dispel her fear.

The question stunned Laura for a moment, even catching Grendel off guard.
