Chapter 585: Chapter 585: For Him to Take
She had been forcibly dragged into a Western fairy tale world.
But only once she was inside it did she discover that fairy tales weren’t as beautiful as they appeared on the surface.
The prince was a madman, the servants were robotic, and even the island breeze felt twisted and wrong.
She was desperate to escape, but there was no way out, and she had no idea where the path to survival lay.
"Baby, why are you crying?"
A trembling kiss suddenly landed on her cheek, immediately followed by William Quinn’s voice.
He was crouching in front of her, cupping her face in his hands as he kissed away the tears that had fallen without her even realizing.
"Don’t cry, baby. Is something making you sad? Tell me, and I’ll help you fix it, okay?"
Iris Yates sniffled, the rims of her eyes turning redder. She looked at the exquisitely handsome yet wicked face before her. He had the face of an angel, but his actions were those of a demon.
’She couldn’t trust him.’
Because he was so volatile.
One moment he’d be calling her ’baby’ with such anxious concern, and the next, he might throw her into the ocean just for something she said.
’She couldn’t die.’
’She had to stay alive, to get back home!’
’Back to her family and friends!’
"It’s just some sand in my eye," Iris Yates said, blinking.
"Then let me blow it out for you."
William Quinn immediately leaned in. He blew on her eye, but he kept getting closer and closer.
’She felt like he was about to lick her eye!’
She recoiled in terror. "I’m fine now!"
’This man was terrifying!’
’And it was absolutely something he would do!’
William Quinn’s Adam’s apple bobbed, and a flicker of disappointment crossed his blue eyes.
"Baby, I adore you so much. I adore your eyes, your hands, your lips... I adore every inch of your body. If I could, I’d put my own special mark on you." William Quinn hugged her and launched into another one of his passionate confessions.
She’d lost count of how many times she had heard such confessions in the last month. To her, it was simply absurd.
’They had only slept together for one night. How could he have developed such intense feelings?’
Iris Yates asked expressionlessly, "Why do you like me?"
William Quinn blinked his blue eyes and said with the utmost seriousness, "How can you explain why you like someone? You just do."
But Iris Yates said nothing more.
She savored the feeling of breathing the fresh air, a sensation that gave her a faint taste of freedom.
But the pleasant moment was short-lived.
William Quinn turned the wheelchair around and began heading back toward the castle.
"The sea breeze is getting a little strong. You’ll get sick if we stay out any longer. Let’s go back, baby. I have lots of new clothes for you. Shall we go take a look together?"
Though William Quinn’s words were a question, his actions gave her no choice at all as he pushed her back into the castle.
The walk-in closet was enormous, feeling cavernous upon entry. Rows of wardrobes were filled with brand-new dresses.
All kinds of dresses.
William Quinn picked up an elaborate princess gown and held it up in front of her. "Baby, you’ll look absolutely gorgeous in this! Put it on for me, won’t you?"
He was asking for her permission, but his hands were already starting to undress her.
He treated her like his own private porcelain doll from the East, to be played with and possessed as he pleased.
Iris Yates pushed his hands away. "I don’t like dresses like this."
William Quinn was taken aback. "Why? This dress is beautiful."
"It is beautiful, but I don’t like it. When I don’t like something, I just don’t. There’s no why." Iris Yates said, throwing his words back at him.
