Chapter 545: Chapter 545: He Was in the Wrong, He Was Silent
"My men are following them, but I haven’t heard anything yet."
Walker Grant said, then asked, "What are you planning to do?"
"I’m going to find her." Nathaniel Monroe’s eyes were resolute. "I have to bring her back. She’s so timid; she must be scared to death."
At his words, Walker Grant’s brows furrowed. "You’re going after her? How are you supposed to bring her back? You’re going to fight William Quinn for her? Aren’t you afraid of getting killed?"
Nathaniel Monroe said, "So what if I die? I have to do something. I can’t just stand by and watch her be taken away."
SLAP!
Claire Monroe walked over and slapped him on the head. "What kind of damn-fool thing is that to say? ’So what if I die’? If you die without bringing her back, what a total waste that would be! When you don’t have the power, you focus on getting stronger. Once you’re powerful enough, you can go demand her back fair and square."
Nathaniel Monroe rubbed his head, his face twisting in a grimace. "Sis, don’t you feel sorry for me at all? I’m already hurt, and you’re still hitting me? Are you even my real sister?"
Claire Monroe crossed her arms and sneered, "I’d like to ask you the same thing. Are you really my little brother? How could you be so stupid? To even think of a rotten idea like a fake marriage... I’m tempted to crack open your skull and see what’s actually in there."
Nathaniel Monroe was speechless.
He opted to shut his mouth, otherwise he knew the yelling would never stop.
"Your sister’s right," Walker Grant said. "You need to focus on healing. Once you’ve recovered, if you still want to go, I won’t stop you. I’ll even arrange for men to assist you. Don’t think about anything else for now. Iris Yates will be fine. At least, William Quinn won’t hurt her for the time being."
Nathaniel Monroe opened his mouth, about to say something more, but one sharp glare from Claire Monroe made him clamp it shut.
"Alright, get some rest," Claire Monroe said, patting his shoulder. "Don’t move around. Let your wounds heal faster. That way, you’ll be able to go look for her sooner. As for Mom and Dad, I’ll handle them."
Nathaniel Monroe really had been running on fumes. At her words, he nodded, closed his eyes, and fell asleep once more.
Walker Grant and Chloe Reed left the hospital.
Chloe Reed was silent the entire time.
Walker Grant glanced over at her. "What are you thinking?"
Chloe Reed looked at him, her gaze cold. "I see why you’re friends. You’re all cut from the same cloth."
"What?"
Walker Grant frowned.
Chloe Reed said, "Didn’t you hear Nathaniel? He’s not going to get a divorce." She gave a cold laugh. "Hah... If I had known, I should have stopped them from getting married. I would have rather let Iris stay cooped up at home than agree to this kind of plan."
Iris is in one hellhole now, and when she gets back, she’ll just have to face another.
Walker Grant fell silent.
He said, "Chloe, how can you take other people’s problems out on me?"
Chloe Reed sneered, "Oh, so does that mean you’ve agreed to a divorce?"
Walker Grant had no defense, so he remained silent.
Chloe Reed said, "I’m tired. Just take me home."
Walker Grant didn’t say a word. He just got in the car and started driving toward Jardinelle.
But halfway there, his phone rang. It was the bodyguard he’d assigned to watch Rhonda Lowe.
"Mr. Grant, Rhonda Lowe has developed the antidote."
Walker Grant’s expression darkened. Then he said, "Bring her to the old residence."
