Chapter 50: Arrival of the Second Entity II

Everyone felt an indescribable pressure.

As if reality were holding its breath.

[00:00:02]

The barking inside Kael’s head no longer sounded distant.

Now it seemed to be right behind him.

The Little Fat King narrowed his eyes.

For the first time since Kael had summoned him...

His expression showed no laziness.

No pride.

No annoyance.

Only immense curiosity.

[00:00:01]

The screen changed.

[Second Compatible Entity... synchronization complete.]

The sky tore open.

And all of reality began to distort.

Kael looked at the sky and sighed.

"Shit... Is this some kind of punk joke?"

---

The sky remained open.

As if a giant crack had split the world in two.

No one spoke.

No one breathed normally.

Teachers.

Students.

Knights.

Everyone looked toward the same point.

The academy rooftop.

In the center of that distortion, Kael remained motionless.

A screen floated before him.

[Synchronization complete.]

The letters slowly began to change.

[Compatible Entity Summoned.]

[Stabilizing connection...]

A light descended from the crack in the sky.

It didn’t explode.

It didn’t roar.

It didn’t shake the academy.

It simply fell.

With absolute calm.

The light touched the ground...

And disappeared.

Silence.

Everyone expected a dragon.

A demon.

A legendary beast.

Something.

What appeared was...

A dog.

Small.

Barely reached Kael’s knees.

He had a beautiful golden coat.

Pointed ears.

His tongue hanging happily to one side.

An expression so happy that it seemed incapable of understanding the concept of evil.

He wore a tiny red cape with golden edges.

Elegantly tied around his neck.

And between his teeth...

He held a simple wooden stick.

Nothing more.

The dog lifted his head.

Wagged his tail enthusiastically.

"Woof!"

Absolute silence.

Kael looked at the dog.

Then at the crack in the sky.

Then back at the dog.

He waited a few seconds.

Nothing happened.

Finally, he spoke.

"..."

"Was that it?"

The System immediately responded.

[Compatible Entity Summoned.]

[Name: Sir Dogerino.]

[Status: Excellent mood.]

Kael looked at the dog again.

Sir Dogerino tilted his head.

As if asking why everyone was so quiet.

Then he walked happily up to Kael.

Dropped the stick on the ground.

Sat down.

And began panting happily.

"Woof."

Luna was the first to break the silence.

"..."

"He’s adorable."

Seraphina nodded very slowly.

"Very."

Kael was still processing.

"Wait...

That was the catastrophe?

Two days without sleep...

...for a happy dog?"

The dog raised a paw.

Kael, almost by reflex, shook it.

Sir Dogerino wagged his tail so hard he almost lost his balance.

Luna brought both hands to her chest.

"How polite!"

Aurelion, who had just arrived running to the rooftop along with Darius, observed the scene.

"..."

"I was expecting something more... apocalyptic."

Darius frowned.

"Are you sure that’s the monster?"

Kael pointed at the dog.

"According to the System...

Yes."

The dog began sniffing the ground.

Found a leaf.

Chased it for several seconds.

Then returned very proudly with it in his mouth.

Dropped it in front of Kael.

Wagging his tail.

As if he had just obtained the greatest treasure in the world.

Kael took the leaf.

"Thanks..."

Sir Dogerino smiled even wider.

"Woof!"

Seraphina watched the scene.

"He’s very different from the Fat King."

Everyone turned toward the cat.

They expected to find him yawning.

Or ignoring everything.

But...

The Little Fat King remained completely still.

Sitting.

Staring fixedly at the newcomer.

Without blinking.

Without pretending to sleep.

Just watching him.

Sir Dogerino finally noticed that gaze.

Slowly turned his head.

Their eyes met.

For several seconds...

Neither did absolutely anything.

Luna swallowed.

"Are they going to fight?"

Kael also began to get nervous.

"Please...

Don’t start."

Sir Dogerino cheerfully tilted his head.

Then took his stick.

Walked calmly up to the Fat King.

And dropped the stick in front of him.

Like an invitation.

Silence.

Kael murmured.

"Is he...

giving him a stick?"

The Fat King slowly lowered his gaze.

Looked at the stick.

Then looked up again.

Sir Dogerino was still smiling.

Waiting.

With all the patience in the world.

The Fat King snorted.

"Meow."

He gently pushed the stick back.

Sir Dogerino wagged his tail again.

Thought for a few seconds.

Took the stick again.

Placed it exactly in the same spot.

As if saying:

"Try again."

Luna began to tremble.

"I think...

he wants to play."

Kael watched the Fat King.

"Don’t do it."

The Fat King looked at the stick again.

Then at the dog.

Then back at the stick.

And, to everyone’s surprise...

He gave it a small tap with his paw.

Sir Dogerino shot off after the stick at full speed.

His tail looked like a fan.

Five seconds later he returned.

Very proudly.

With the stick back in his mouth.

Dropped it exactly in front of the cat.

The scene repeated.

The Fat King remained completely serious.

Sir Dogerino was incapable of stopping wagging his tail.

Aurelion smiled.

"Interesting..."

Kael raised an eyebrow.

"What?"

"The Fat King.

He’s accepting his presence.

Even if he pretends to be annoyed."

Kael looked at the cat again.

It was true.

If he really wanted to ignore him...

He would have just walked away.

Instead...

He stayed there.

Pushing the stick back over and over.

As if, deep down...

He was also finding it entertaining.

The crack in the sky slowly began to close.

The System sent one last message.

[Second Entity stabilized.]

[Compatibility confirmed: 99.8%]

[Synchronization successful.]

Kael let out a long sigh.

"Well...

I think I got lucky this time."

Luna smiled.

"Now you have a cat and a dog!"

Seraphina watched both animals.

A slight smile appeared on her face.

"They make a good team."

Kael also smiled.

For the first time in several days.

He didn’t know if this was a blessing.

Or the beginning of an even greater disaster.

But at least for that moment...

Everything seemed to be fine.

---

High above them, hidden among the last cracks in the sky, a laugh echoed where no one could hear it.

"Excellent..."

An amused voice spoke to itself.

"The king already has his knight.

Now then...

The game can begin."

And, without anyone noticing, the humble wooden stick that Sir Dogerino held glowed for a fraction of a second with a power so ancient that even the Fat King didn’t look away from it.
