Chapter 205: Chapter 206: Not A Saint
"Don’t you think his death was a bit too simple, Quinn?" Lyra asked, looking at Quinn with absolute admiration, completely unbothered by the gruesome corpse.
"Hmm... that’s true. I think we can do a lot more to the rest," Zero spoke up, brandishing her dagger.
"No, this is enough... we don’t need to dwell on him, and we can’t save those poor souls anyway," Quinn replied, instantly discarding any illusions of playing the hero who would rescue the broken captives.
Their focus remained entirely on the main objective.
It wasn’t as if he could revive them just to grant them the full spectacle of revenge, but this was simply the superior way of ending those pieces of trash.
"Fufu... then let’s go. We need to clear out some more before moving on," Alice spoke, severing the head of another man who had already lost his eyes.
"I want to see more carnage too... let’s move." Lilith was thoroughly enjoying herself...if there had been popcorn, she would have been savoring it without hesitation.
"Why are my handful of MILFs so bloodthirsty? I didn’t raise any of them to be like this..." Quinn mumbled.
Thinking about it wasn’t going to help him anyway, especially since the three of them could read his mind.
"Fufu, my love... it’s a trade secret shared among your wives~" Alice strolled forward as the echoing clatter of approaching footsteps grew louder.
"Let me stretch my muscles now, sister... I want to show off my trump card too!" Lilith stood at the very front, gripping her halberd with both hands.
Lowering her left thigh, she positioned the polearm behind her back.
*Halberd Series: First Fold - Sundering Cleave!*
A crimson arc materialized like a raging wave, threatening to swallow everything in its path.
Everything began to crumble apart, the grass, the walls, the beautiful garden, all of it.
Srkkkkk!! Rumble... rumble...
The stone pavement erupted like an earthquake, fracturing the ground into broken shards.
Boom!!!! Boommmm!!! Booomm!!!
"Argh!!! Run away!"
"Save your lives!!"
"Arughhh!!!"
Desperate cries reverberated through the air. The incoming foes never expected to swallow a massive crescent of red light, followed by a towering tide of debris, collapsing walls, and shattered earth.
"Hehe... don’t slaughter them all, sister. We need to interrogate them later." Lyra was amused, watching the sheer might of a Series skill.
Seeing a top-tier ability in action was truly a feast for the eyes.
She wanted to possess a Series of her own, but it simply wasn’t possible at the moment.
Lyra still needed to polish her sword proficiency before she could forge her very own specialized sequence.
Series skills were renowned for being top-tier, self-taught techniques.
This meant they couldn’t be shared like standard skill manuals, which merely required a guide and could be mastered instantly with enough talent.
A Series was far more complex; it reflected the absolute mastery a weapon-holder possessed.
As of right now, neither Quinn nor Lyra had achieved this...not even Zero, who was an exceptional assassin.
That alone proved how difficult it was to master.
Yet, the most intriguing aspect of a Series was how overpowered it became when battling opponents of the same tier... well, provided both parties belonged to the same noble race.
Quinn wouldn’t be unlocking his own Series for a very long time.
He barely used his weapons, having ignored them entirely since escaping the Crucible, making it impossible for him to learn one here and now.
Then again, he didn’t strictly need a Series. Quinn could easily purchase ultimate, overpowered skills for himself and his women.
The real issue was that he was too broke to spend wantonly, not to mention his limited marketplace access due to a measly Bronze Privilege.
That was the harsh reality: he was just too damn poor, a pitifully broke casualty of the system.
Quinn had high expectations for the buy-and-sell feature; he wanted to hoard more cores and valuable loot to flip for a profit.
Money is life, after all.
"Just unleash your skills, my breathtaking Lilith. They’re going to keep coming anyway." Quinn didn’t care. These opponents were mere small fries, insignificant irritants he refused to let clutter his plate.
The truly powerful adversaries would eventually show themselves, saving him the trouble of hunting them down.
Even so, he wanted to see them face-to-face, so he gladly walked toward the frontline.
"Then let’s not wait around for the conclusion! Let’s go!" Lyra was eager to inspect the fresh meat.
"Let’s move, then. Let’s see if these bastards can answer my pacifist questions." Quinn walked forward and turned his head, gesturing for Neko to sanitize the area.
Neko gave a crisp salute using her tail, looking incredibly endearing.
Though only a fool would believe that the adorable creature was harmless!
That menace was completely ruthless.
As the saying goes, you can’t judge a book by its cover.
Except in her case, the cover hid a gaping, horrendous abyssal maw ready to devour everything in existence.
"Fufu... let’s hope that nothing has changed..." Alice murmured. She fully anticipated that the status quo would remain identical after witnessing the state of the exterior, but it was always more entertaining to harbor a little expectation.
It was just a passing whim as she cast a final glance toward the impending slaughter.
What was the point anyway? Those kinds of bad things happened all over the world.
They did not just happen in the domain of humans, but also in many other races.
Additionally, Quinn did not have any plan of becoming some piece-of-shit hero who saved everyone.
He did not care about being good. His sole objective on his long journey to the very peak of power was simply to find and enjoy more beautiful MILFs.
Though he was not completely heartless, he was certainly not a saint either.
Quinn would save the people who ended up right in front of him on his plate, but that was the absolute limit of his kindness.
He simply did not give a single damn about any matters that were unrelated to his personal goals.
