Chapter 66: Chapter 66: Slaughter

Two more Qin Family guards, their eyes bloodshot, charged out with roars of fury. Two long trails of red Sword Qi slashed viciously toward Qin Li and... Mo Feifei!

CLANG! CLANG!

Unable to restrain themselves any longer, two Mo Family guards drew their swords in a rage and intercepted the attack. Without a word, the four of them instantly fell into a frenzied melee.

The four were evenly matched, but their battle was just the spark. The rest of the Mo Family guards were already seething with rage. They had watched in disbelief as the Qin Family guards recklessly tried to kill Mo Feifei along with their target. Over on the other side, Qin Feng and Qin Hu had shown no reaction—in truth, they simply hadn’t had time to react. But the Mo Family guards were in no state to consider that. They swarmed forward as one. Having been together for years, their coordination was flawless. In a single instant, they cut down the two Qin Family guards.

At this, the remaining Qin Family guards went mad. Even Qin Feng and Qin Hu’s furious shouts could no longer stop them. Just like the Mo Family’s guards, these Qin Family Martial Artists had spent years together and were no different from brothers. They had just watched three of their own die horribly in an instant. Including the two who had fallen to Qin Li’s sword earlier, they had lost five brothers in a single day!

"Kill them all!" Someone screamed the words, and the guards of both the Qin and Mo Families... went completely insane!

In an instant, they were locked in a bloody slaughter!

Qin Feng and Qin Hu stood frozen, an icy chill creeping through their limbs. Suddenly, Qin Hu came to his senses. He exchanged a grim look with his brother, and the two drew the swords from their sides. Without a word, they plunged into the fray, killing two Mo Family guards with their first moves!

"Fight them to the death!" a Mo Family guard roared madly. He made no attempt to dodge the enemy’s incoming slash. As the blade cut him in two, he thrust his own sword viciously into his opponent’s heart. The two of them died together!

The battle rapidly escalated to a fever pitch. Not even Qin Li and Hu had expected such a chain reaction. Qin Li’s eyes darted. He channeled the "Zhen" character technique from his Only I am Venerable combat arts and whispered a low command into Mo Feifei’s ear. "What are you waiting for? Run!"

The voice was like a clap of thunder in Mo Feifei’s ears. A flicker of confusion appeared in her eyes, but her body didn’t hesitate for a second. Like a bolt of lightning, she fled back the way she came!

"Don’t let her escape!" Qin Feng roared, his face a twisted mask of fury. Mo Feifei’s figure faltered for a fraction of a second, but then she unleashed her full potential and vanished into the forest in an instant.

Qin Feng immediately moved to chase after Mo Feifei. Everyone knew that if word of today’s events got out, it would lead to a war to the death between the Qin and Mo Families!

’So, no matter the cost, I have to kill Mo Feifei here and pin the blame on Qin Li!’

It was a good plan, but the moment Qin Feng moved, Qin Li blocked his path. A mocking smile played on Qin Li’s lips as he looked at the man before him—the most outstanding genius the Qin Family had produced in generations. His face was now contorted with rage, his eyes were bloodshot, and he had none of his usual carefree, composed demeanor.

"What’s this? So heartless?" Qin Li said with a grin, baring his teeth. "You’d even kill your own fiancée? She’s your cousin, you know!"

"Qin Li, I’ll never rest until you’re dead!" Qin Feng shrieked, unleashing a slash of pale red Sword Qi at Qin Li.

Nearby, Qin Hu roared, "Go after Mo Feifei! You must kill her!"

The dagger was unsheathed. At this point, both sides had thrown all pretense to the wind, no longer bothering with any concealment.

"Brothers, hold these bastards back, even if it costs you your lives! Let the Young Mistress escape so she can avenge us! She’ll take care of our wives and children! Fight!"

The leader of the Mo Family guards wielded a great saber, his Saber Technique composed of broad, sweeping strikes. He roared madly as he fought with all his might.

...

The roars echoed through the forest. At this moment, Mo Feifei’s mind was blank of all other thoughts. There was only a single word: Flee!

’The farther I run, the better!’

Tears streamed continuously from the corners of her eyes, and the wind whipped up by her speed stung her face. Yet Mo Feifei seemed to feel nothing at all. She just wanted to be faster, even faster, faster still... to get home, back to her parents’ side!

She didn’t know how long she had been running. Mo Feifei felt as if her body was about to burst into flames, as if her very soul was about to leave her. Then, finally, she saw the majestic, solemn city walls in the distance.

Over the years, she had entered and exited this great city countless times, but never had she felt as emotional as she did now.

By the time she reached the gate, Mo Feifei—her clothes in tatters, her hair a tangled mess—was on the verge of collapse. She had been running nonstop for a full day! Seeing the city gate guards, she opened her mouth to speak, but her eyes rolled back in her head, and she fainted.

At first, the gate guards thought she was some madwoman and were about to kick her aside. But then, one of them noticed a Jade Pendant clutched in Mo Feifei’s hand—the token of the Mo Family! Taking a closer look, a cold sweat broke out on both guards. Without a second thought, one of them commandeered a horse-drawn carriage while the other sprinted like a madman toward the City Lord’s Mansion.

Drifting in and out of consciousness, Mo Feifei’s mind was in utter turmoil.

’Qin Feng, to think I loved you so deeply. At the critical moment, you chose to abandon me. But that wasn’t all. When your men tried to kill me too, not only did you not stop them, you even urged them on to kill my guards! And then... and then you yourself... you joined the fight personally! You watched me flee for my life, but instead of stopping, you wanted to hunt me down and frame Qin Li, all because you were afraid of the truth getting out!’

’Fine... Very good... Excellent!’

’Qin Li may not be a good person, but you people are nothing but scum and degenerates!’

’Qin Feng, Qin Hu, you’d better remember this. Pray I don’t see you return alive. Because if I do, I, Mo Feifei, will never rest until you are dead!’

In her hazy state, Mo Feifei heard someone calling her name urgently. She forced her eyes open a crack, and the figure of her father came into view. Tears of blood streamed from the corners of her eyes as she stammered out, "Father... beware of... the Qin... the Qin Family!"

With that, she fell back into unconsciousness.

Lord Mo Qianxiong, a man who had been calm and composed his entire life, now wore a face of utter ferocity, his complexion an ashen blue. Through clenched teeth, he ground out two words: "Qin... Family!"

...

Back on the battlefield, Hu had gotten to his feet. He swung his great saber and viciously cleaved down at a Qin Family guard who was trying to pursue Mo Feifei. With a loud CRACK, Hu’s powerful strike sliced the guard—and his sword—in two!

"Satisfying!"

Hu let out two great laughs, the force of which tore open his wounds again. Blood seeped through his clothes, but he seemed completely oblivious as he searched for his next target, soon engaging another Qin Family guard.

Qin Feng was known for cultivating his family’s Blade Palm Technique, but few knew that his true specialty was a combat art called the Thunder Shock Sword Technique!

His sword strikes were like peals of thunder!

Each slash contained astonishing power. His Sword Technique was fast and furious, with every move aimed at Qin Li’s vitals. Qin Feng wanted to end this battle as quickly as possible so he could chase down Mo Feifei, kill her, and frame Qin Li.

But Qin Feng had never imagined this. After cultivating the Only I am Venerable combat art, Qin Li was no longer the pushover he once was. His current strength was simply unfathomable!

They had already exchanged more than thirty blows, yet Qin Li wasn’t even flushed or out of breath. He was treating it like a game!

Meanwhile, the battle between the two families’ guards was drawing to a close. The outcome... was tragic beyond words.

Qin Hu had suffered several slashes, and large patches of his clothing were soaked in blood. The Qin Family guards, in their efforts to protect him, had all been killed. Not a single Mo Family guard was left alive either.

The scene was now reduced to Hu facing off against Qin Hu, and Qin Li against Qin Feng. Bu Yunyan and Leng Yao stood off to the side; this level of combat was beyond them.

Qin Feng and Qin Hu had stumbled so badly today that even now, it all felt like a dream. They both found themselves thinking, ’How in the world did things escalate to this point?’

’That’s right, it was that impulsive, simple-minded guard!’

’Qin Feng had always thought that being impulsive and hot-blooded was a good thing—something he could easily exploit to make people die for him. He never thought that today, he and all his men would be brought down by one such idiot. Damn it!’

’But the most hateful one of all was this damned little bastard in front of him!’

"Qin Li, go to hell!" Qin Feng leaped high into the air, bringing his longsword down in a fierce overhead chop!

CRACK!

A clap of thunder rang out of thin air!
