Chapter 1467: Chapter 656: Buddha and Vessel
Zhang Family.
Huan Miyun crawled out of the guest room that had already collapsed into rubble, using both hands and feet.
A mere guest room collapse wasn’t enough to truly hurt him, but in the current chaos of the Zhang Family, this place was no longer suitable for him to stay.
"Hahahaha!"
"Hahahahahahaha!!"
"What a thrill! What a thrill! Back then your Zhang Family bullied and humiliated me! Now I, Zhang Baomian, will pay you back double!!"
"Killing one is killing, killing a thousand is also killing! Today I’ll wipe out your entire Zhang Family as well! Your Zhang Family’s old ancestor can only watch with his eyes wide open! Unless he doesn’t want that damned pillar anymore!! Hahahahaha!!!"
Huan Miyun’s gaze lifted, looking at that wildly arrogant white-robed youth in midair.
He didn’t know what grudge this youth had with the Zhang Family, but there was no doubt that, at the moment when the Sky-reaching Pillar of the Zhang Family emitted a blinding radiance and the Zhang Family’s old ancestor and main forces were pinned in the rear courtyard, unable to move at will, this white-robed youth was an existence within the Zhang Family that no one could match!
"The Rebel Army... I need to return to the Rebel Army and report the situation here to Lord Qiu!"
The old man Huan had already lost contact with the Rebel Army; ever since he’d been trapped in the Zhang Family, he’d never had the chance to get in touch with the Rebel Army personnel outside.
But all of this was for the common folk of Thunder City, for the great ideals of the Rebel Army! He was willing to do this! Willing to penetrate deep into the enemy camp!
However, the situation had now changed. With something this big happening, he had to, no matter what, go and report the news to the upper ranks of the Rebel Army.
Taking advantage of Zhang Baomian diving down and starting a massive slaughter within the Zhang Family, the old man Huan rolled and crawled in a hurry, running toward the outside of the Zhang Mansion.
Fortunately, Zhang Baomian’s killing seemed to be all about venting his rage; before killing each member of the Zhang Family, he had to first ask clearly about the other party’s identity, then curse them out viciously. Even the servants in the stables, who were separated by a distance of heaven and earth in terms of connection, had to be put onto his liquidation list. He was terribly long-winded, though he was probably killing to his heart’s content and enjoying his revenge.
The more important ones, such as the Zhang Family’s steward and the like, were tortured back and forth by him—smashed heavily to the ground, then yanked high into the air again, over and over, until they were slammed into a pulp, all while he emitted crazed laughter like a mad demon.
Huan Miyun didn’t understand how the Zhang Mansion could have turned into this. Only when he hurriedly escaped the Zhang Mansion and ran onto the main street did he find in shock that, although it was clearly late at night, the streets of the entire Thunder City were packed full of people—every one of them refugees!
Those people, dragging their families along, carrying bundles on their backs, were cramming toward the direction outside the city like mad.
But the streets were never that wide to begin with. With this crush, people were practically squeezed flat onto the street; even the situation on the eaves above wasn’t much better.
"Aaaaah!!!"
"Get out of the way! Clear the road!! Let us through!"
"Thunder City is finished! Completely finished!!"
"Woman, stop holding that umbrella, grab the child tight and stick close to me, I’ll ram us a way out!"
All kinds of voices mingled together; if one really relied only on their legs, it was almost impossible to move an inch.
But fortunately, Huan Miyun was just in bad shape and slightly injured. With a push of his foot, his body leapt up onto the equally crowded rooftop eaves.
Relatively speaking, the route along the rooftops was a bit easier to take.
And at this moment, Huan Miyun suddenly heard a shrill scream coming from below.
His gaze swept downward.
He saw that in the crowded masses below, someone had drawn blood; a woman fell into a pool of blood, and then there was even greater chaos.
The conflicts between people directly devolved into the most straightforward mutual slaughter, as if once they started, they wouldn’t stop at a second. They grabbed their Swords and hacked away in order to carve a path straight through!
This directly scared the people in front senseless; they all squeezed forward, but couldn’t force a way open, and could only be hacked to death in the street by those wielding Swords, falling to the ground and becoming padding.
Panic erupted, and the crowd surged forward like mad, people shoving people, instantly pushing many directly to the ground.
At that moment, no one bothered to help those who had fallen; instead, because those spots were now vacant, people frantically squeezed in, stepping again and again on the ones lying on the ground as they surged ahead.
One person’s method worked, and the crowd imitated.
When you’re fleeing for your life, who doesn’t have some sort of weapon on them?
Some pulled out farming sickles, others drew gleaming kitchen knives, and started hacking wildly at the people around them.
In an instant, the scene became insanely frenzied, like Purgatory on earth. Blood sprayed everywhere, and people fell one after another like pigs, dogs, and livestock.
In the midst of such a mad scene, a massive Shadow suddenly descended.
"Amitabha, all living beings suffer, all living beings struggle; better to throw yourselves into my Buddha’s mercy."
An exaggeratedly huge hand scooped up more than half the people on the street into its palm like fishing the moon out of water, then opened a giant mouth!
That gigantic demon directly chewed and swallowed these people down.
Huan Miyun was stunned on the spot.
Where had this demon come from, actually eating people in broad daylight on the street! While he’d been trapped in the Zhang Family all this time, what on earth had happened in Thunder City?
Without caring about anything else, Huan Miyun fled for the outskirts with his life on the line.
With so many developments, he had to survive and report everything back to the Rebel Army! This kind of chaos was precisely the moment for our Rebel Army to rise!!
This was heaven-sent opportunity, heaven’s blessing upon our Rebel Army!!
He sprinted madly all the way, and with the Thunder Cloud lighting up the night sky, Thunder City was illuminated as bright as daytime.
The phenomena of the multitudes below were like a dance of a thousand demons, all insane, all mad.
One demon after another either stayed nearby to eat people or rushed toward the Sky-reaching Pillar, while wave after wave of human crowds each tried to save themselves by fleeing toward outside the city.
If one were to stand above and look down at this moment, they would see that most people were actually flooding toward... that direction of the city gate outside the walls where the Capital’s grand army was encamped!
With demons wreaking havoc and a multitude of fiends dancing wildly, perhaps the place where the army outside the city was stationed was, for now, the safest place!
