Chapter 395: Chapter 395: The Snowgrave Dragon [1]
After a few minutes of watching the chaos unfold, and a few more people being killed by the dragon’s relentless attacks that swept across the plains with devastating force, Leon finally reached the center of the domain where the massive beast had made its stand.
The ground around it was covered in ice and frozen debris from its previous assaults that glistened under the dim light of the sky.
And there, standing before him in all its terrifying glory, he saw it, the dragon’s scales shimmering with an almost ethereal glow that made it seem otherworldly, and its eyes burning with an ancient intelligence.

[Snowgrave Dragon (Mana Monster Boss)]
[Level: 100]
[Talent: None.]
[Combat Power: 11,000,000]

’It really is at the peak of the higher domains,’ Leon thought, his eyes narrowing as he assessed the creature and its capabilities, taking in every detail of its massive form and the way it moved, ’Impossible to beat normally for anyone without years of preparation.’
No player, even those at level 100 with years of experience and countless battles under their belt, could even hope to come close to this thing’s power.
Which made Leon realize just how far he still had to go in his journey.
It had only been a few months since Leon entered [Eternal Ascension] for the second time after all, so he was still far from reaching his full potential.
Fwash!
With a simple powerful swipe of its wings, the snowgrave dragon launched an ice crescent toward Leon.
The attack cut through the air with a sharp whistling sound, forcing him to dodge at the last second by dropping to the ground and rolling out of the way, his heart pounding in his chest.
Fwoosh!
The crescent rushed past him, so strong and fast it could even cut building without any effort, leaving a trail of frozen air in its wake that made the temperature drop dramatically and caused the grass beneath it to crack and shatter from the cold.
’I see why Iris said it could destroy kingdoms if it wanted to with ease,’ Leon thought, his respect for the monster growing as he witnessed its power firsthand.
Cataclysmic Fireball!
Leon lifted his staff and unleashed his fireball at the dragon, the massive sphere of flames roaring through the air toward its target.
He was aiming to see if the spell would at least injure it, if not a little, as he was sure it wouldn’t kill it outright given the massive difference in their power levels.
But even his spell was no match for the dragon’s overwhelming icy power that seemed to negate all heat and turn the flames into nothing more than harmless embers.
Ice Breath!
The dragon released an icy mist from its massive jaws.
The frost spread through the air like a wave, freezing the fireball while it was midair, and slashing it before it could hit it, the flames extinguishing instantly as if they had never existed, leaving only a faint wisp of smoke.
"...Ok," Leon mumbled.
At that moment, a few more players rushed forward, eight of them in total, their footsteps pounded against the frozen ground.
But what surprised Leon the most wasn’t that Orion was among, but that Violet was there too!
"Leon!" Violet beamed as she landed right next to Leon using her dragon wings, her expression bright despite the danger, her wings folding against her back, "I’m happy you’re still alive!"
"I should be the one saying that but yeah," Leon nodded, a small smile forming on his face, "Gotta kill that thing, how many mana points do you have?"
"479, I think I’ll be in the top 10 for sure, though definitely not top 2 or 1, though it all depends on who kills the dragon I guess."
"Yeah," Leon agreed, understanding how this one kill could determine the final rankings.
Even Violet who was much behind Leon and Orion in terms of Mana Points would immediately climb at first place if she managed to land the killing blow on the massive dragon, securing the top rewards.
"But wait," Violet turned toward Leon, her expression thoughtful and calculating as she considered the options, "You’re first place, right?"
Leon nodded, confirming her suspicion without any hesitation.
"Then... wouldn’t it be smarter to defend the dragon instead of attacking it?"
"...What?"
"I mean, if you’re first place and there’s no monsters left to kill, if the timer reaches zero, you automatically win, right?"
"That’s... true," Leon stated as he gazed at the timer above, the numbers ticking down with each passing second
[22:59 minutes left.]
"...But I still wanna see if I can kill that thing," he grinned..
"Heh, classic you," Violet punched Leon’s shoulder lightly, a knowing smile on her face, "Then, let’s get rid of that thing, no hard feelings to whoever gets it!"
"As long as its you and me, I don’t mind," Leon shrugged, "Watch out for the angel by the way, he’s dangerous and I think he’s been targeting people throughout the event."
"That fucker attacked me then ran away at some point, I want to see him gone!" Violet groaned, her fists clenching, "Also he’s the most likely to cause trouble in this fight."
Among the eight players who arrived, excluding Orion and Violet, were six others who had also made their way to the center, drawn by the chaos and the promise of a massive mana reward.
Most of them seemed to be sure they didn’t have enough points to be in the top 10, so this was their best bet to secure a spot through the dragon’s kill.
Among them was some of the players Leon had noticed before, including the two lizard-race players before, an elf who held his scepter with trembling hands, and three insect-race players likely in a group, their chitinous armor gleaming in the dim light.
They each carried their weapons with semi-confidence except for the lizards, who looked pretty nonchalant.
Leon could feel their aura radiating power, and just by the way they stood there, he immediately assumed that much like Orion, Violet and him, they simply wanted to see if they could aim for top one by claiming the dragon’s massive mana reward.
"We meet again, Celestial," Orion laughed as he flew around the area, his golden blade in hand, his wings flapping lazily, "And as I promised, this will be our final encounter in this event!"
"Whatever," Leon replied dismissively, not wanting to engage with the angel’s taunts.
The idea of stopping Orion from getting the kill sounded amazing to Leon, but stealing the kill and making sure he got no reward sounded even better in his mind!
’As for Celeste and Emilia, I bet they’re hiding somewhere safe... if they didn’t die that is,’ Leon thought, hoping his companions were okay.
The plains didn’t really have anywhere to hide effectively, but you could stay around the edges of the barrier constantly as there was a low chance anyone would find you there in the vast expanse.
The snowgrave dragon was now surrounded by eight awakeners, all aiming to kill it.
