Chapter 391: Chapter 391: The Event’s Player Killers, Explosive Daggers
After around thirty minutes of continuous running through the rocky terrain, his feet pounding against the stone, Leon found pretty much no monsters to fight along the way.
The area was strangely quiet and empty, in fact, there were no players either, as if they had all vanished.
’I’m sure the people Emilia saved should be nearby as they went toward here...’

’So close,’ Leon thought, realizing how few players were left standing in the event.
At this point, wiping every player except for the top ten would definitely be possible if someone played their cards right and stayed aggressive.
If another player was behind a lot of mana points, they’d instead start to hunt others in case they had more mana points.
In fact, as Leon continued his journey through the mountains, he faced exactly that kind of situation from unexpected attackers.

While rushing toward the mountains’ center, he sensed something and ducked right as a dagger flew toward his position, barely avoiding the blade by a hair’s breadth.
The dagger kept going, hitting a nearby tree and exploding in a massive explosion of flames that consumed the trunk completely and sent debris flying everywhere.
’Holy shit...!’ Leon thought, his heart racing at the power behind the attack.
"Goddamn it, we almost had him, but he has good reflexes, unlike the others," a voice echoed from somewhere in the trees, filled with frustration.
"Irrelevant, just throw more," another voice responded, cold and calculating.
Swash! Swash! Swash!
Leon sensed more objects coming his way and he immediately started to avoid them one after the other, his body moving on instinct as he weaved through the barrage.
Each time one of the daggers collided with something, it exploded and destroyed everything around it, leaving craters in the ground and scorched earth.
Meanwhile, though Leon could sense the projectiles when they were close enough to see, he had absolutely no idea where their perpetrators were hiding in the dense terrain.
He tried to truly focus and locate them, but the voices seemed to come from everywhere at once, disorienting him.
Fwoosh!
As soon as he saw a dagger from a specific direction, he instantly used shadow bullets, launching twenty of them toward that direction to try and flush them out.
"Hah, he thinks that we stay in place after attacking, truly idiotic," one of the voices mocked.
"Stop messing around and kill him already!" the other voice shouted, growing impatient.
The voices came from everywhere at once, making Leon really wonder how he could possibly deal with them effectively.
He could defeat an enemy if they fought face to face, but what about opponents who didn’t even show themselves and attacked from the shadows with deadly precision?!
The situation truly seemed... complicated, to say the least, and Leon was running out of patience.
Leon tried to run away to escape and find a better position, even using his [Abyssal Slash] to seep into the ground.
But of course, he was forced to come out after two minutes, and the two players caught up to him wherever he went, plus no matter what attack he threw, none of them seemed to hit their mark.
"Kaaaaa~"
Alphox, who was in his [Shadow Step] form, urged Leon to avoid their attacks and counter-ambush them.
’Yeah, maybe I should—’ Leon started to think, considering the strategy.
BOOM!
Unfortunately, that explosion had been far too close to the duo, in fact, it was strong enough to force Alphox out of his hidden form and expose him to the attackers.
"KKKKRAAAAAA~" he roared loudly, trying to intimidate their attackers and scare them off with [Draconic Roar].
But that didn’t seem to affect them at all, their resolve unshaken.
"I wanna kill them," Leon told Alphox, his voice filled with determination and anger, "Running away doesn’t seem to be the best option either, they’ll probably find me again."
"Kaaaa!" Alphox seemed to understand the gravity of the situation and nodded.
"He has a pet, aim at it!" one of the voices shouted to the other.
"Its kinda small, but since its a baby it must not be that strong...!" the other voice added, underestimating Alphox.
The two assassins did just that, throwing their daggers toward Alphox, who jumped out of the way at the last moment with surprising agility for his size.
SLAM!
Still, the explosion was enough to send him flying toward a scorched tree, slamming into it with a heavy thud that knocked the wind out of him.
"NICE, NOW FINISH THIS!" the assassin shouted, pressing their advantage.
Another dagger was sent, and this time, Leon was forced to use [Time Stop] once more as it was about to hit the tree where Alphox was located, frozen in midair.
’Goddamn it,’ Leon groaned as he rushed forward, his body moving through the frozen moment.
He grabbed the dagger midair while time was stopped then launched it back toward the location where it came from with all his strength, reversing their attack.
And as time returned to normal, the dagger flew back toward its sender with incredible speed.
BOOM!
"WHAT?!" one of the assassins shouted in surprise at the sudden reversal.
"H-Holy shit, be careful!" the other one added, startled.
Even the assassins couldn’t react to something this fast, though it was not enough to reveal their exact position or force them out of hiding completely.
And Leon could feel himself get tired from using [Time Stop], he wouldn’t be able to do it another time.
Seeing its master exhausted and the two of them on the verge of death from the relentless assault, Alphox’s scales and body began to glow with a brilliant light.
Bam! Bam! Bam!
He sent several pulses of aura around the spot where they were standing, a wave of energy that spread outward in all directions with incredible force.
As soon as the pulse hit a living being, that being started to glow with a bright aura, allowing Alphox and Leon to see exactly where they were hiding.
And so, as soon as it hit the two assassins, they were revealed as well.
Beep!
The two of them appeared in Leon’s vision, allowing him to see exactly where they were positioned, their hidden forms now completely exposed and visible.
"You..." Leon turned toward Alphox, a wide grin spreading across his face as he realized what his pet had just done.
