Chapter 69: Chapter 69: I’m a Very Good Citizen

When Yu Zimo saw it was Gu Zhao, he immediately started yelling, "Get these beasts away from here!"

He stared at Gu Zhao, his gaze turning colder and more sinister.

Gu Zhao cleaned out her ear and looked at Gu Xulin in feigned confusion. "Brother, do you hear a dog barking somewhere?"

Gu Xulin made a show of looking around. "Sounds like it’s coming from the tree."

Song Yi disagreed. "Big King, I don’t hear any barking. All I smell is a stench."

He looked at the people in the tree, puzzled, and then it hit him!

"Big King! He wet his pants!"

Gu Zhao’s head snapped in his direction. "Whoa! Looks like our little tyrant wet himself!"

Yu Zimo’s face was a mixture of dark fury and red embarrassment, and he trembled with rage.

Hearing this, Ye Zuiyi also looked over and sure enough, she saw the wet patch on his pants.

’How disgusting,’ she thought. Still, he was a valuable future simp, so she had to keep up appearances.

"Gu Zhao! You can’t just say things like that. It’s just rainwater."

Gu Zhao replied, "Ooh, rainwater... If you say so."

Her nonchalant response left both Ye Zuiyi’s words and Yu Zimo’s pride hanging in the air.

"If you spout any more nonsense, I’ll have someone tear your mouth off!" Yu Zimo threatened, his face dark.

This was how his mother used to threaten other women.

"Ooh, so scary," Gu Zhao mocked. "Fine, you didn’t wet yourself. I can’t very well make someone sniff your pants to check, can I? That would be so unfair to them."

"You’re courting death!" Yu Zimo’s face flushed with rage.

He glared at Gu Zhao, then noticed the three tigers nearby looked familiar. They seemed to be the same ones that had helped Ye Zuiyi drive away other animals.

This emboldened him. He sneered, "I suggest you apologize now. We might still spare your life."

’?? Has he lost his mind?’ Gu Zhao was completely baffled. ’Where is he getting this confidence from?’

Yu Zimo smirked. "The tigers with you are Zuiyi’s pets."

Gu Zhao: ??

Everyone else: ??

’What is he talking about?’

Up in the tree, Ye Zuiyi saw the tigers and remembered.

Instantly, the people in the tree regained their confidence.

Only Yu Xiaowei looked dismayed.

"Zuiyi, hurry up and have those tigers drive away the other animals," Yu Zimo said smugly.

Ye Zuiyi looked a little helpless. "Alright, I’ll try..."

She looked down at the tigers, expecting success, and commanded, "Leave."

The tigers stared at her blankly.

Ye Zuiyi’s face burned. ’Why isn’t it working again?!’

"Leave!"

She tried a few more times, but it was still useless.

Gu Zhao said, "Are you guys... putting on a comedy sketch? Oh no, don’t tell me you’ve actually lost your minds."

"You’re the one who’s lost their mind! You psycho! You bitch!" Yu Zimo felt as if Gu Zhao was trampling his dignity underfoot.

He ignored the wild boars, tigers, elephants, and lions below, and slid straight down the tree trunk.

Yu Xiaowei couldn’t watch anymore. She could already guess what would happen. ’Yu Zimo just never learns,’ she thought. ’His tolerance for getting beaten up is better than mine, and I’m just a wage slave.’

"You’re just a bitch!" The moment Yu Zimo’s feet hit the ground, he ran toward Gu Zhao with a dark expression, his eyes filled with viciousness.

Gu Xulin’s face darkened with fury at his words. He was just about to teach him a lesson when a tiger beat him to it.

The tiger excitedly pounced on him, opened its mouth, and let out a roar.

The sound made Yu Zimo’s ears ring. Before his eyes were the tiger’s sharp fangs, and he could even smell the scent of blood...

Yu Zimo’s brain short-circuited, and he couldn’t react.

Ye Zuiyi feigned surprise, fear, and a hint of disbelief. "Gu Zhao! Brother Zimo was just angry. You’re not going to let the tiger eat him, are you?!"

’But inside, she was hoping Gu Zhao would let the tiger kill him! So what if that good-for-nothing Yu Zimo died! If he hadn’t brought it up, she wouldn’t have tried! And she wouldn’t have been humiliated in front of Gu Zhao!!’

’Besides... if his death could drag Gu Zhao down too, it would be a worthy sacrifice!’

She looked at the tiger and urged it on in her mind. ’Bite him! Hurry up and bite down!’

Gu Zhao casually folded her arms. "Oh, you know that too? You knew whether he peed himself, and now you know the tiger wants to eat him. Don’t tell me you’re the one who told it to bite him."

"Oh, that must be it! He was just so confident that the tiger was your pet!"

"Don’t you dare drag me into your internal squabbles and frame me. I’m a law-abiding citizen!" Gu Zhao said this last part to the animals, her voice laced with gritted-teeth frustration.

The animals looked blank. ’What is Xiangxiang saying?’

Only the leopard, who understood, guiltily buried its head.

Gu Zhao turned back to Ye Zuiyi. "I can’t command them. If you keep trying to frame me, I’ll just lie down right here and sue you for all you’re worth."

She even put on a little show for her, gesturing to the animals and saying, "Roll over."

The animals stared blankly.

"See? Stop trying to sling mud at me."

[This proves it. Our Monkey King is a domestic model who doesn’t understand foreign languages.]

[But Gu Zhao can obviously have the leopard translate for her, so why isn’t she telling the tiger to get up! She clearly wants him to get hurt! She’s so young, how can she be so vicious?]

[No matter what, Yu Zimo is still just a kid. Does she really need to scare him like this?!]

[Why didn’t Yu Zimo remember he was ’just a kid’ when he was acting so arrogant earlier? Now that he’s scared stiff, he gets to play the victim?]

’This is all Gu Zhao’s conspiracy!’ Ye Zexi thought.

Suppressing his impatience, he said in a gentle tone, "Zhaozhao, I believe you, but can you make these animals move so we can come down now?"

Gu Zhao: ??

Gu Xulin was speechless. "My sister already said she can’t command them. Why are you still scheming? If you want to come down, come down. No one’s stopping you."

Zhong Mingrui asked Zhong Siqi curiously, "Brother, why is he asking again? Big King already said she can’t. Did he not hear her?"

Zhong Siqi thought for a moment. "Hm, maybe his hearing is bad."

"Oh, that’s so sad. To have bad hearing at such a young age." Zhong Mingrui’s gaze toward Ye Zexi was tinged with pity.

Ye Zexi struggled to keep his composure. ’Come down if I want to? With those wild boars watching me menacingly, do I dare?!’

’Just to get pounced on by a tiger?’

But it wasn’t safe in the tree either. A flash of lightning in the sky reminded them that a lone tree on the savanna was practically asking to be smitten by heavenly tribulation.

Ye Zuiyi’s voice choked up. "Gu Zhao, are you just going to stand there and watch us die?"

Gu Zhao didn’t want to waste her breath on idiots. She looked up at the leopard cowering in the tree. "Get down here!"

The leopard raised its head, hesitated for two seconds, and leaped down.

The moment it landed, the other animals instantly surrounded it.

Hua Baozi craftily hid behind Gu Zhao.

Seeing this, Ye Zexi finally dropped the act. "Gu Zhao, do you have a heart?! No matter what, the Ye Family raised you for five years! Is this how you repay kindness with hatred?!"

It would have been better if he hadn’t brought it up. The mention of it made Gu Xulin’s anger flare. He glared coldly at Ye Zexi.

’Not enough evidence yet. Mustn’t reveal our hand.’ He looked at Hua Baozi.

"Tell the elephant to see if it can break the tree."

’That should scare them to death.’

Sure enough, the faces of the people in the tree turned pale when they heard this.

Yu Xiaowei felt she was going to die of this injustice. ’Screw it!’ she decided. ’I’ll take the gamble!’

’Win, and I’m home free! Lose, and I’m covered in crap!’

She began to climb down the tree trunk.

When she reached the ground, all the animals watched her, but none of them attacked.

Yu Xiaowei looked at Gu Zhao and asked tentatively, "Can I leave?"

Gu Zhao nodded. "Of course."

’She didn’t provoke me, so why wouldn’t I let her go?’

Yu Xiaowei thanked her gratefully, paid no mind to Yu Zimo, and walked straight away.

’Bullshit Yu Family! All they ever do is drag me down!’

"You dare run?! I’ll have my dad kick you out of the family! I’ll have you blacklisted!" Yu Zimo, having recovered his senses, saw Yu Xiaowei leaving and screamed out, crying in panic.

Yu Xiaowei completely ignored him. ’Idiot brother! Weirdo parents! I never wanted them anyway!’

Seeing this, Ye Zexi and Ye Zuiyi also tried to climb down. But the moment they started, the wild boars surrounded the trunk and began anxiously pawing at it with their hooves.

Ye Zexi quickly scrambled back up.

BOOM! Another clap of thunder.

Gu Xulin couldn’t watch anymore. "Let’s go. Why are we standing here getting soaked? It makes us look like a bunch of idiots."

The group went back to the shelter they had built to warm themselves by the fire.

The other animals followed and left, but the wild boars refused to budge, standing guard under the tree and watching the people above.

With the tiger gone, Yu Zimo was free. He panted, his face pale. The wet patch on his pants seemed to have grown a little larger.

A wild boar approached him.

Yu Zimo scrambled to his feet. He glanced at Ye Zuiyi, a hint of suspicion in his eyes.

’Did she really make the tiger pounce on me...?’

The wild boar got closer and closer. He stopped looking at her, turned tail, and ran.

Ye Zuiyi watched him run away, her expression growing darker.
