Chapter 523: Absorption Threshold, Greater Rewards Await!
After roughly counting over sixty Bloodline Crystals, I no longer felt the urge to reach out for the next one.
[ Fusion complete! One branch of your bloodline has been enhanced! ]
[ Strength +0.009! ]
[ Constitution +0.01! ]
[ Agility +0.007! ]
[ Dexterity 0.005! ]
’I should probably stop here.’
The amount of crystals that I consumed was barely a quarter of the wall’s reserves. However, there was really no point in going any further.
The fact that these Stat values were just one step away from being negligible was one thing, but what truly mattered was...
[ ’Dragonization’ Advancement +0.1%! ]
’Even all of these crystals wouldn’t be enough.’
When the advancement value just dropped to a half percent, a full 100% was still within reach, albeit, at the cost of the whole crystal reserve. Unfortunately...
[ ’Dragonization’ (Intermediate) 28.2% ]
Ever since the progress crossed the 25% threshold, the value dropped to a constant 0.1%. Now, at least 718 Bloodline Crystals were needed to fill up the entire thing.
’That’s only if it doesn’t drop any further.’
Of course, if it went down by another half at 50% and then reduced to a tenth at 75%, the amount of crystals required to level up Dragonization would be tens of thousands.
’It’s good enough for now.’
That being said, going up an entire 20% in just a dozen minutes or so was worthy of celebration on its own, and so was the great increase in my overall Stats.
[ • Stats :
Strength: 53.89
Constitution: 54.11
Agility: 53.62
Dexterity: 47.23 ]
The biggest Stat increase might just be a little over 4 points, but if everything was tallied up, this was the equivalent of 11 precious Level Ups!
Finally, the last bonus I was looking forward to landed without much delay.
[ ’Omni-Mastery’ Lv.6 unlocking +7% ]
My biggest cheat ability was now several steps closer to advancement!
’It shouldn’t take too long.’
Although the overall increase in Dragonization took the lead, the road to level 6 wasn’t as barren as that of Dragonization’s advancement. With this big push, it already crossed the halfway point.
[ ’Omni-Mastery’ Lv.5 (54.49%) ]
Despite the fact that Omni-Mastery’s influence was becoming less and less prominent as my main skills reached their advanced stages, I really couldn’t stop myself from looking forward to my next cheat key!
’Already done?’
It didn’t take long to fully digest my first reward, but the Pseudo Sky Dragon was already lying on the ground with a full stomach. It seemed like he also knew when to stop.
{Fascinating, I originally intended to help you speed up the process, but it looks like my help wasn’t needed.}
"Is that not the norm?"
Naturally, just as my absorption of Elemental and Corruption Crystals was viewed as absurd compared to normal people, I knew that my instant bloodline fusion would be just as peculiar.
However, I was still rightfully ignorant of how the Half-Dragons absorbed their own share of crystals.
{Indeed, the period of time they spend varies, but they need to keep the crystal in direct contact with their bodies for at least one full day.}
"I see..."
Considering how meager the benefits of each crystal became near the end of my feast, I really couldn’t imagine myself absorbing everything over two months.
{Being faster isn’t strange considering that you are closer to Dragons compared to bloodline species. However, that speed almost rivals that of True Dragons.}
In reality, the speed of absorption had nothing to do with the purity of my bloodline. However, explaining the existence of the System was still one of the few things I wanted to keep a secret.
For now, it was fine to compete with the Pseudo Sky Dragon in devouring speed. After all, even with the System’s cheats, I still couldn’t compete with a True Dragon’s Law.
{It would probably have taken longer for you to consume the bloodline source that I have refined.}
If the Green Dragon wasn’t just boasting about his assistance then he was likely to be capable of manipulating any source of bloodline related to him on will.
Otherwise, it didn’t make sense for a half-dead Dragon to transform crystals into the consumable liquid that seeped into my skin with the System’s assistance.
{In any case, this makes me even more sure of the second gift... Or rather compensation that I want to provide you.}
"I hoped you would say so."
I could have pretended to be ignorant of the Green Dragon’s intentions, but the undeniable truth was that I was already expecting a sequel to the initial reward.
Of course, I didn’t build any sense of entitlement towards a reward that wasn’t agreed upon, but the Green Dragon clearly referred to the Bloodline Crystals with ’first of all’.
Compared to the effect of the Stat and Skill Boosting crystals which could be replicated through certain methods, the hidden reward was definitely worth a greater amount of hype.
Just like most major NPCs in games, the Green Dragon possessed a unique reward that only he could provide, and I was looking forward to what it might be... Even if I already had a few guesses.
{There is no shame in hoping for more support, especially when we both know what kind of enemy you are up against. So, worry not, I won’t be cutting corners.}
As soon as the Green Dragon finished his words, the area around started trembling ever so slightly. Following that, the originally cool air started heating up in a gradual manner.
{If I were to be honest, I was really skeptical about whether you could handle another one of these, but in a way, the fact that you could handle the first one practically proves your capability to handle more. At the very least, I was truly reassured by what you have just shown me.}
Just as quick as it came to be, the ground’s trembling quickly faded away. Still, the air was only getting hotter and hotter.
{That being said, the decision is yours to make. So, what do you say...}
Of course, the heat wasn’t something that I couldn’t handle. However...
{Do you have what it takes to indulge in another sip?}
The scorching drink offered by the Green Dragon was certainly heavier than it looked.
