Chapter 60: Ch 60: Confused Fluttering Hearts

The smooth hum of the van gradually slowed as it pulled up to the curb. "We’ve arrived, Teacher Su, Teacher Mo," the driver announced politely, his voice cutting through the quiet interior.

Su Wanyan stirred from her light nap, blinking slowly as her mind cleared. "Hm?" She hummed, turning her head toward the window. The sight before her was nothing short of breathtaking—an extravagant restaurant that exuded timeless elegance and quiet luxury.

The restaurant stood like a beacon of elegance against the city skyline, its grand facade adorned with subtle marble accents and floor-to-ceiling glass windows that offered tantalizing glimpses of the refined interior within.

Soft lighting from crystal chandeliers spilled out onto the paved entrance, casting a welcoming glow that blended seamlessly with the natural light of the day. Pedestrians nearby paused to admire the iconic establishment, their voices low with awe as they pointed out its famous details.

"Oh, thank you," Su Wanyan managed, still shaking off the last traces of drowsiness. She fixed her golden-rimmed glasses with one hand, adjusting them neatly on her nose.

Beside her, Mo Xingxue offered a graceful nod. "Thank you," she said simply, her voice calm and melodic.

Su Wanyan stepped out first, the cool autumn air brushing against her skin. She turned back immediately and extended her hand toward Mo Xingxue, palm up in a steady, gentlemanly offer of balance.

Mo Xingxue smiled, first glancing at the camera positioned behind them. With a playful glint in her phoenix eyes, she stuck out her tongue ever so slightly—a cheeky, teasing gesture aimed directly at the viewers watching through the lens.

Then she turned back to Su Wanyan, accepting the offered hand with natural grace. She stepped down steadily, her cream heels clicking softly against the pavement.

"Thank you, Yanyan," Mo Xingxue said, flashing her a tender smile that made her eyes curve beautifully.

Su Wanyan returned the smile, bright and warm, though a faint trace of her earlier anxiousness still lingered in the corners of her expression. "Of course," she replied softly.

They waited patiently as the crew finished unloading equipment and cameras from the support van, the organized bustle of the production team creating a quiet rhythm around them.

The prestigious restaurant loomed elegantly before them, its reputation as one of the most exclusive three-star Michelin establishments in the world adding a layer of anticipation to the moment.

Meanwhile, the live barrage erupted into delightful chaos over Mo Xingxue’s playful tongue-sticking gesture:

[DANG! WE GET IT, SU WANYAN’S YOURS!]

[Yeah, no need to show it off to us. I’m already crying.]

[Su Wanyan, I love you. I really and sincerely do, but please sign the divorce papers. I’m giving up my rights as your legal wife to Mo Xingxue—I admit defeat.]

[WOAH, SU WANYAN’S NUMBER ONE SIMP IS GIVING UP? DID THE PERSON WHO KEPT FORCE FEEDING YOU MEDICINE FINALLY GOT YOUR HEART?]

[Hey, I said I’m giving up my rights as her wife. I didn’t say I’m giving up on Su Wanyan. I’m satisfied with just being her sidechick.]

[Upstairs, open your door. I’ll let you experience what sidechicks experience.]

[Ha! As if I’ll fall for that for the hundredth time.... HEY! STOP BANGING ON MY DOOR, YOU FREAK!]

[LOL]

[I know Mo Xingxue was ragebaiting us.. but that damn smile. That DAMN SMILE!]

[She’s so cute, like wth. (crying)]

[Fuck, something just hardened.]

[Ayo??]

The two women remained blissfully unaware of the online frenzy, standing close together in quiet companionship as they waited. Once the crew signaled they were ready, Su Wanyan turned to Mo Xingxue with a gentle smile. "Then, let’s go?"

Mo Xingxue looked at her, eyes soft. "Let’s go."

Su Wanyan smiled brighter and hooked Mo Xingxue’s arm securely around her own, drawing her close in a protective, intimate gesture.

Together, they walked toward the grand entrance of Tianze, the elegant sage and cream outfits complementing each other perfectly under the warm lighting. The crew followed at a respectful distance, capturing every moment as the pair moved with natural grace and quiet affection.

When they got there, Su Wanyan was mesmerized by the luxurious sight. Wow, so this is Tianze in person, she thought in quiet amazement. The original owner had been invited multiple times but had never gone, so this was truly her first time seeing it with her own eyes.

The grand entrance featured polished marble steps leading up to ornate double doors framed by intricate carvings, while inside, the soft glow of chandeliers reflected off crystal glassware and pristine white tablecloths. The air carried a rich aroma now—delicate notes of truffle, seared seafood, and aged wine—making her mouth water subtly.

Although amazed and mesmerized, Su Wanyan didn’t let herself fall into a daze, and continued walking forward with steady steps.

When they got near, they were greeted by multiple staff members with friendly, professional smiles on their faces. Just then, a distinguished man stepped forward and bowed deeply, the staff behind him following in perfect synchronization, showing their respect. "Welcome, esteemed guests," the lead staff said, his uniform neat and immaculate, every button polished to a shine.

Then, they all straightened up in unison and flashed them brighter, welcoming smiles. "This way, please," he said, stepping aside and stretching his hand inside the restaurant, presenting the extravagant space with graceful pride.

Su Wanyan and Mo Xingxue walked in, with Mo Xingxue’s arm still wrapped comfortably around Su Wanyan’s. The interior was even more breathtaking up close—the soft lighting created an intimate yet grand atmosphere, with tables spaced perfectly for privacy, fresh floral arrangements adding splashes of color, and the subtle hum of refined conversation filling the air.

As they walked, the staff kept talking about the history and prestige of Tianze—which had already been explained to them in the living room earlier, so they were already aware. However, the two were conscious that part of the explanation was for them, but mostly it was for the viewers watching the broadcast, painting a vivid picture of the restaurant’s legacy.

[Dang, just seeing the design of the restaurant immediately made me want to book a reservation.. but when I looked at my bank account, I sighed in disappointment.]

[Lol, that’s what we are all feeling rn.]

[Ha.. it’s so hard being poor.....]

[I WANT TO DINE THERE TOO!]

[You can dine there, just become someone influential first then pay thousands of bucks.]

[...Nevermind..... I’ll just stick to my instant ramens.]

[The person upstairs crumbled with zero pressure, btw.] 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

[Nah, they crumbled down with an enormous amount of pressure—financial pressure. Thank you for fighting so bravely, soldier.]

[LOL!]

While the barrage expressed their envy and got sidetracked, Su Wanyan, Mo Xingxue, and the crew were still being escorted toward their table.

As they walked past other tables, they saw that those dining there were big shots in their fields. It was also very diverse—entertainment icons, medical leaders, businessmen, politicians, and many more. Su Wanyan was amazed.

Wow, the original owner had only seen those people on TV, she thought. And that was impressive in itself, since the original owner wasn’t someone who frequently used social media or watched TV often because of how busy she was at work, she only knew people who were really, really well known.

Still, for her and the original owner, they were amazing people but she didn’t personally know them, so after the initial amazement, she forgot about them moments later.

Finally, they arrived at a beautifully set table near a window overlooking the garden. The staff moved with efficient grace, two of them pulling out the chairs with polished movements and setting them up for the two. "Please," the lead staff said, gesturing for them to take a seat.

The two nodded to him and the other staff as thanks and sat opposite of each other. The table was elegantly arranged—crisp white linens, gleaming silverware, and a small floral centerpiece that added a touch of color without overwhelming the setting.

The staff member whose name tag read Shen Li clapped his hands lightly, and two more staff politely handed them menus. Su Wanyan took hers and immediately widened her eyes. Bro, everything is so expensive here, she thought. Still, the money the PD provided should be more than enough to cover the dishes they would order.

Su Wanyan looked seriously at the menu, scanning the elegant script and mouthwatering descriptions. After a comfortable silence, she made up her mind on what to order. She looked at Mo Xingxue across from her and waited patiently for her to finish.

With nothing else to do, Su Wanyan simply gazed at her friend’s face, once again mesmerized by Mo Xingxue’s beauty—the way the soft restaurant lighting highlighted her elegant features, the gentle curve of her smile, and the quiet grace in every small movement.

The barrage that was watching them couldn’t help but tease the dense Su Wanyan.

[Just marry her already, Su Wanyan.]

[I need someone to look at me like that (now we wait).]

[I need to look at someone with love like that (now we wait).]

[I need air (I have asthma).]

[Hi, my name’s Air.]

[??? Wth, get lost. I seriously need air.]

[THE LOOK OF LOVE, THE RUSH OF BLOO—]

[STOP! WE’RE SERIOUSLY GETTING REPORTED AT THIS POINT!]

[Lol, here’s the copyright police.]

[Hey, Mr. Policeman, I don’t want no trouble—]

[AAHH! I SAID STOP!!]

While the barrage fought each other, Su Wanyan continued to gaze at her friend, admiring her beauty more and more. Her heart beat quickened, and she noticed her face getting hotter. Su Wanyan pursed her lips and placed her hand on her beating chest. What’s wrong with me? Su Wanyan couldn’t help but wonder inwardly, finding her state unusual.

While Su Wanyan was having an existential crisis at Tianze, PD Xu Cui was having the time of his life.

PD Xu Cui pushed little Mo Yan’s stroller with a wide, almost boyish grin on his face, his steps light and energetic despite the busy schedule. The baby slept peacefully in her carrier, tiny cheeks flushed with the gentle warmth of the afternoon, her small hands curled into loose fists.

Every now and then, PD Xu Cui would glance down at her with obvious fondness, humming an unknown, cheerful tune under his breath. Behind him, a small crew of staff followed dutifully, their arms laden with bags overflowing with new toys and soft baby clothes—all clearly purchased on the spot for Mo Yan.

The crew exchanged tired but amused looks and wry smiles as they walked. PD Xu Cui’s enthusiasm for shopping was legendary on set, but today it seemed especially boundless.

Without batting an eye, he spotted another luxurious clothing store ahead, its elegant window displays showcasing tiny designer outfits and delicate accessories. He immediately veered toward it, his grin widening at the thought of more treasures for the baby.

The crew behind him sighed collectively, but their eyes sparkled with renewed determination. For our bonus! They thought in unison, straightening their postures and picking up their pace with fresh energy. They followed the PD into whatever store caught his interest next, arms full but spirits high, knowing the generous overtime and incentives would make the extra effort worthwhile.
