Chapter 349: Chapter 176: What Does Who You Are Have to Do with Me?
The journey to the Northern Domain was already more than halfway complete.
After the Celestial Martial Grand Assembly, it wouldn’t be far to Cold Valley Town.
After meeting Zhao Wuji and completing this mission, Fang Shuwen planned to head straight for the Sword God Palace.
When the time came, he’d have to call on the people from the Golden Bell Tower to help him empty out the Sword God Palace.
Those who needed to be killed would be killed, but he couldn’t pass up the chance to get rich.
Just as he was pondering this, he suddenly heard a commotion outside.
Fang Shuwen looked up and saw a spooked horse—where it had come from, no one knew—bolting wildly down the street.
The common folk on the street scattered, but a small child, only six or seven years old, was frozen in fear at the sight of the charging horse, forgetting to move.
Seeing this, Fang Shuwen was just about to reach out and pull the child away using the North Nether Divine Technique when he saw a monk in gray robes step out in front of the child.
The startled horse didn’t care who was in front of it.
Its hoof stomped down viciously.
The monk put his palms together, not dodging or evading, and let the hoof come crashing down on him.
THUD!
The monk didn’t move an inch, but the horse seemed to have been violently jolted, its four legs giving way as it collapsed to the ground.
The gray-robed monk, who had just been stomped on, walked briskly over to the horse and began to pat it reassuringly.
"You didn’t mean it. It’s okay, it’s okay."
He spoke softly, and the horse gradually calmed down.
The horse’s owner hurried over, thanked the gray-robed monk profusely, and then led his horse away.
The onlookers who witnessed this scene all cheered loudly.
The gray-robed monk, however, remained unmoved. He simply walked silently to the side and sat down cross-legged.
Seeing this, the child’s parents quickly bought some food and offered it to him as a token of their gratitude.
But the monk repeatedly shook his head, refusing their offer.
Long Qingzhi had also seen the whole thing and couldn’t help but say,
"Is that monk’s body really that tough?"
"Mm, he must have cultivated a powerful Body-Protecting Divine Technique."
Fang Shuwen nodded, but his brow furrowed slightly as he watched the horse being led away.
’Why would the horse get spooked for no reason?’
Just then, another clamor arose from the street. Looking toward the source of the noise, they saw a palanquin being carried toward them from the end of the road.
To call it a palanquin wasn’t quite accurate... it was huge, more like a bed.
It had a canopy and was draped in white gauze, making the figures inside seem hazy and indistinct.
However, it was still clear that there wasn’t just one person inside.
One person was lounging on a soft couch in the center, surrounded by several charming figures. Some were pouring wine, some massaging his legs, some kneading his shoulders... a full entourage.
The four palanquin bearers also possessed extraordinary skills.
Their physical strength was incredible, and their Lightweight Technique was quite advanced.
A moment later, the palanquin arrived in front of the gray-robed monk.
The gray-robed monk stood up and spoke.
"Amitabha Buddha. Greetings, Young Master Tinghua."
"Master Wangxing, you really are a meddler."
Young Master Tinghua said with a light chuckle,
"You’ve ruined a perfectly good bit of fun."
"Young Master Tinghua finds amusement in the lives of others. Aren’t you afraid that one day, someone will take your life in turn?"
The gray-robed monk’s voice was calm, less a question than a statement of fact.
"Hahahaha."
Young Master Tinghua just roared with laughter.
"Who would dare take my life? You? The Ascetic Sect? Or perhaps that Zhao Wuji, or Ye Wufeng?"
"It couldn’t possibly be that Demon Evil God, Fang Shuwen, could it?"
Master Wangxing remained silent, merely lowering his gaze.
But Young Master Tinghua suddenly asked,
"Master, have you renounced carnal pleasures?"
"Form is emptiness, emptiness is form."
"Nonsense."
Young Master Tinghua suddenly whispered something, causing the women around him to giggle endlessly.
Immediately, one of the women, dressed in light clothes and unafraid of the cold, descended from the palanquin.
Seeing this, Long Qingzhi scoffed in disgust.
’Shameless.’
Unexpectedly, Young Master Tinghua seemed to have heard her. He glanced up, his eyes narrowing as a strange light glinted within them.
Meanwhile, the woman had reached Master Wangxing. She wrapped her jade-like arms around his neck, her delicate body pressing against him.
"Master, do you think I’m beautiful?"
"Nothing but a painted skeleton."
Master Wangxing kept his palms together, completely unmoved.
The woman writhed and circled Master Wangxing several times, but he remained as still as a statue.
Young Master Tinghua eventually grew bored.
"Fine, fine. Come back."
"It’s strange, really. Monks aren’t eunuchs. How can he be so stone-hearted when faced with such a charming little beauty?"
"The Ascetic Sect turns men into gods. It’s truly a heretical path."
"Good and evil are separated by a single thought,"
Master Wangxing said softly.
"My righteous path is another’s heretical path, and vice versa."
Young Master Tinghua was momentarily stunned, then burst out laughing.
"You know, you’re not so boring after all, monk."
As he spoke, he looked toward Fang Shuwen and Long Qingzhi and called out,
"Upstairs! Is that the villain incarnate, the blood-staining Demon Evil God, Fang Shuwen?!"
Fang Shuwen’s gaze turned cold.
"I am."
"Excellent! So you’re not one to hide in the shadows."
Young Master Tinghua let out a wild laugh.
"I heard the girl with you possesses the Glazed Saint Body?"
"I have never in my life... *played with* a Glazed Saint Body. Why don’t you give her..."
Before he could finish his sentence, Fang Shuwen had already vaulted out the window.
A massive fist imprint seemed to materialize from the heavens and descend.
Seeing this, Young Master Tinghua laughed heartily.
"Hahaha, bring it on!!"
With a furious roar, he thrust a palm toward the sky.
A massive palm print shot out from the palanquin’s canopy, steadily catching the fist imprint.
Young Master Tinghua began to laugh uncontrollably.
"So much for the Demon Evil God. You’re nothing but..."
Just as he said that, there was a muffled PFFT, and the massive palm print instantly disintegrated.
The terrifying Fist Force, like a cloud falling from the sky, came crashing down on the palanquin.
The four bearers’ faces changed drastically. They and Young Master Tinghua, still inside the palanquin, all struck out at once to block it...
But the moment they made contact, they felt as if Mount Tai itself was crashing down upon them.
It was unstoppable!
All of Young Master Tinghua’s arrogance had vanished. Pinned by the overwhelming force of the punch and unable to escape, he could only scream desperately,
"You can’t kill me! I’m—"
BOOM!!!
The entire town seemed to tremble violently.
A deep crater was blasted into the ground, where blood and gore mingled with the shattered remains of the palanquin, creating a gruesome scene.
Fang Shuwen landed gently on the ground and flicked his sleeve.
"Who you are has nothing to do with me."
...
...
PS: I considered ending the Chapter on a cliffhanger, but then I thought, "Forget it." The whole thing was over in one punch. What’s the point of a cliffhanger for that?
