Chapter 347: Chapter 176: What Does It Matter to Me Who You Are?
As they spoke, a woman dressed in cyan robes appeared outside the main hall.
Her gaze was cold and sharp, her face hidden behind a cyan veil.
Sun Buping rose to greet her, and everyone else in the hall stood up as well, welcoming the Cyan-robed Saintess of the Saintess Sect.
"There’s no need for such formalities."
The Cyan-robed Saintess strode inside and sat in the seat of honor without any ceremony.
Sun Buping’s brow twitched, but he said nothing, simply smiling as he spoke.
"Your presence brings great honor to this humble place, Saintess."
"This is a major event concerning the entire Northern Domain, after all. The Saintess Sect naturally had to come watch the show."
The Cyan-robed Saintess said in a level tone,
"and it’s not just me. Young Master Tinghua, Mu Chengjin of Thousand Snow Pavilion, Master Wangxing of the Ascetic Sect, and Zhao Ziying of Heaven-Slaying Sect are all on their way. They will arrive at Celestial Martial Peak within days."
Sun Buping’s expression remained unchanged as he nodded repeatedly.
"Your presence lends much prestige to the Celestial Martial Grand Assembly."
The Cyan-robed Saintess glanced coolly at Sun Buping.
"This assembly is indeed extraordinary. With the exception of Sword God Palace, every sect and master of note in the Northern Domain will gather here.
"Sect Leader Sun, have you considered what will happen if events spiral out of your control?"
Sun Buping’s expression faltered for a moment.
However, the Cyan-robed Saintess didn’t wait for his answer. She turned to the others present and spoke slowly.
"I know each of you has your own agenda.
"However, the position of my Saintess Sect is this: whatever you plan to do, you must think carefully before you act.
"With an event of this magnitude, the slightest misstep could spell utter ruin for the Northern Domain."
With that, she stood.
"Sect Leader Sun, I’d like a private word with you."
As she finished speaking, she strode out of the main hall. Sun Buping glanced at the others, his expression unreadable, and followed her out.
A long while later, Tong Jingchun slammed his palm on the table, his expression cold.
"The Saintess Sect! Such arrogance!"
"Circumstances are stronger than men."
Li Juedai sneered.
"The Five Great Forces of the Northern Domain are far above us. Although some people like to rank our names alongside their masters, none of you should delude yourselves into thinking we are truly stronger than they are.
"If that were true... why would we all be struggling on our own?"
At his words, the expressions of everyone in the hall shifted once more.
The Northern Domain was not like the Eastern Domain.
In the Eastern Domain, the Seven Great Sects worked in concert to uphold the righteous path of the Jianghu.
Even though there were other sects and powers besides the Seven Great Sects, as long as their actions aligned with the righteous path, the Seven Great Sects would let them develop unimpeded.
But the Northern Domain was different...
Anyone who threatened the standing of the Five Great Forces would be ruthlessly suppressed and crushed.
Even the Ascetic Sect, renowned for its placid nature, was no exception.
In recent years, only Thousand Snow Pavilion had managed a powerful rise after annexing a formerly great power. They were an unstoppable anomaly.
As such, the people in the hall today all had different attitudes toward Fang Shuwen.
Some of them may have still harbored designs on Long Qingzhi, but others wanted to see how Fang Shuwen would, step by step, confront Ye Wufeng and utterly grind the mighty Sword God Palace to dust.
If Sword God Palace were to fall, a new order would inevitably emerge in the Northern Domain Martial World.
Powers that lay dormant, ambitions forcibly suppressed by the Five Great Forces, might seize the opportunity to rise in a single stroke.
However, many in the Northern Domain Martial World were unaware of these matters, nor did they have the standing to know.
Inside the main hall, Li Juedai’s words plunged the room into silence once more.
Meanwhile, in a private tea room, sandalwood incense spiraled upward. The Cyan-robed Saintess sat on a soft couch, watching Sun Buping boil water and prepare tea across from her.
Only when a full cup of tea was placed before her did the Cyan-robed Saintess finally speak.
"This was a fine move by the Cyan Sheep Sect."
Sun Buping said with a smile,
"The Cyan Sheep Sect has spent years keeping a low profile, never entering into disputes.
"We simply couldn’t bear to see this bloody storm engulf the Jianghu."
"There’s no need for pretense in front of me."
The Cyan-robed Saintess said coolly,
"While there are certainly chivalrous souls within the Cyan Sheep Sect, you, Sun Buping, are not one of them.
"You’ve worn the mask for so long. Surely you haven’t started to believe you’re actually a righteous man?"
A muscle in Sun Buping’s jaw twitched. He took a deep breath and said,
"Saintess, why have you truly sought me out?"
"The letter you hold was not written by anyone in the Northern Domain. It’s the handiwork of the Western Regions Celestial Eagle Alliance."
A cold glint appeared in the Cyan-robed Saintess’s eyes.
"Do they truly think the Northern Domain is empty, that they can trespass on our lands without anyone knowing? How absurd."
Sun Buping’s expression changed slightly.
"If that is truly the case, we must announce this to the Jianghu at once and clear Hero Fang’s name."
The Cyan-robed Saintess raised a delicate eyebrow and suddenly scoffed.
"Keep up this act. Your Cyan Sheep Sect might just reap considerable benefits from this grand assembly.
"However, by betting everything on one man, are you not afraid of losing it all?"
"If I were afraid, there would be no Celestial Martial Grand Assembly," Sun Buping said with a smile.
"From the moment my sect found the Demon Evil God, everything was set in motion, irreversibly."
"That is true."
The Cyan-robed Saintess sneered.
"If he fails, Sword God Palace will undoubtedly turn its blades on the Cyan Sheep Sect."
After all, in this storm sweeping the Northern Domain Martial World, the Cyan Sheep Sect had chosen to side with Fang Shuwen.
Everyone knew Fang Shuwen’s purpose for coming to the Northern Domain.
Under these circumstances, the Cyan Sheep Sect’s choice was tantamount to a slap in the face to Sword God Palace.
