[Continue Your Revenge Completed]

[Haze Veil (C) Skill Obtained]

[Description: This skill envelops the user in a thin, blurry layer of energy, obscuring their outline and blending them with the background.]

John felt his stomach tighten as he gazed at the reward. This Skill would make a perfect combination with his Quiet Steps and his camouflage coat. Before, he had to hide before he could use his Quiet Steps passive effect, but with this Skill, he could disappear right in front of anyone.

John looked around the base and it was finally starting to look like a proper refuge, but there were still missing things. They needed more bathrooms, entertainment and commodities, but most importantly, they needed the materials from the monsters suggested by Echo. Who knew when the Luminars would start causing troubles.

He needed to become stronger and as he thought that, he remembered he still had a Skill Upgrade to use. He thought for a second that he should upgrade his Critical Hit skill, but the skill was too limited with a cooldown. Even if he upgraded it, he figured the cooldown time would just be reduced, not eliminated. Without a doubt, Shockwave was the skill he used the most after Quiet Steps. With that in mind, he opened the system interface and upgraded the Shockwave skill to D-rank.

As soon as he did, a wave of energy rushed through his body, his muscles twitching and his skin crawling. He felt his hands vibrating, a faint buzzing sound ringing in his ears.

The new skill description read:

[Skill: Shockwave (D)]

[Description: Shockwave is a skill that grants the user the ability to create a concussive blast capable of forcefully separating opponents and propelling the user. At its current level, the skill can inflict enough damage to hurt opponents. With enough uses, it is capable of killing.]

John was ecstatic. He could already feel the difference, his hand was vibrating with energy, and he could see his veins bulging. He wanted to test it right away, but he had to get the materials Echo needed to continue expanding the base. However, he wasn’t strong enough, yet, he and the others needed to become stronger.

John headed out of the base, determined to grow his strength, but what he didn’t see was the short blonde following him. It was Dalia. She had heard John with Jolene and while she was still Julian’s girlfriend, she couldn’t stop thinking about John, but did John really feel the same about her? Even though he took her out on that date, she wondered what her place was in John’s heart.

Unsure of what to do, she followed him without his knowledge, hoping to get a glimpse of his true feelings.

John was oblivious to her presence, his mind focused on finding monsters. After a few hours, he found a nest of Giant Rats, they looked stronger than the average monster, but John wanted to try out the newly upgraded Shockwave.

With his Quiet Steps, he crept up to the monsters, and when he was close enough, he activated Shockwave.

John’s hand burst with energy, a ball of crackling electricity forming in his palm. He felt his veins bulge, his skin crawling, and his heart racing.

He threw the ball of energy at the Giant Rats, the electricity crackling through the air and hitting the monsters.

The ball exploded in a shower of sparks, the crackling energy sending the monsters flying.

One of the monsters hit a tree, its spine cracking with a sickening crunch.

[0.5 Agility Obtained]

John’s eyes widened as he saw the damage the Shockwave had inflicted. He felt a rush of excitement and adrenaline, his hand buzzing with energy.

The remaining monsters turned towards him, their beady eyes filled with rage. They charged towards him, their fangs bared and their claws ready.

John held his ground, his hand raised, and his mind focused. He waited for them to come within range, his body thrumming with energy.

He unleashed his Shockwave, the blast tearing through the air and hitting the monsters. One of the monsters was killed instantly, its head exploding into a fine mist of blood and gore. He dismissed the system’s notification and continued his attack, energy crackling around him.

His attacks were relentless, his hand unleashing a torrent of lightning and crackling electricity. The monsters were no match for his power, their bodies crumbling beneath the onslaught.

After a few minutes, John stood over the corpses of the monsters, his chest heaving and his body still buzzing with energy. He couldn’t believe the power of his new skill, the sheer destructive force it possessed.

He felt a sense of pride and satisfaction wash over him, a feeling of invincibility filling his body. Additionally, he had gained a total of 2 Agility from these kills alone.

John sent the corpses to his inventory and sat down for a smoke break. Meanwhile, Dalia observed closely, still wondering if John felt the same way about her. She wanted to approach him, but she was afraid, she was not brave enough to tell him all her feelings, or was she?

While John rested, Dalia made her move. She approached him slowly, her heart pounding in her chest and her palms sweating. She couldn’t believe what she was about to do, but she had to know how John felt.

"John," she called, her voice barely a whisper.

John looked up, his eyes narrowing at her. "What are you doing here?"

"I...I...wanted to talk to you."

"About what?"

"I don’t know. I just wanted to see you."

"Okay," John said, his voice flat and uninterested.

"You don’t seem happy to see me."

"I’m just tired, Dalia."

Dalia felt her heart sink, her stomach twisting with anxiety. She had hoped John would show some sign of affection towards her, but instead, he seemed distant and cold.

"Listen, John, I—"

Before she could finish her sentence, John interrupted her.

"I have things to do, Dalia. If you want to talk, you’ll have to wait."

"Oh, okay," Dalia stammered, her voice trembling.

John walked away, leaving Dalia alone and confused. She wondered if she should give up, but she couldn’t, not without knowing how John felt.
