John peered inside the power plant through a window and saw more men, keeping his engineers captive. John exhaled, relieved that they were still alive. Now he could focus on taking back the power plant.

Like a phantom, he rushed behind a group of four men with lightning-speed. His footsteps silent, he stopped and his shadow claw emerged from his left side and slashed a man’s throat. He then plunged his Venomlash into the back of the second man’s head, killing him instantly.

"What the hell?!" One of the remaining men cried out.

"He’s behind us!" Another one shouted.

John grinned and attacked again, this time, using his Shadow Claws to slice their limbs. The men screamed in pain, their voices muffled by the river’s rushing waters.

"Kill him!" one of the men screamed.

The others scrambled to their feet, their movements uncoordinated and panicked.

"Fuck, he’s too fast," one of them shouted, frantically looking around.

John dashed and plunged his dagger into the stomach of the first man. He then grabbed his head and twisted, breaking his neck.

"No, please, stop!" one of the men pleaded, falling to his knees.

But John showed no mercy. He kicked the man in the face, breaking his nose.

"I’m begging you, please don’t kill me," the man pleaded, crying.

John’s face was expressionless, his eyes cold. He raised his Venomlash and sliced the man’s throat.

The rest of the men spotted him and he retreated into the shadows, hiding his presence.

"Where did he go?" one of the men whispered, his voice trembling.

"I don’t know," another replied.

"Damn it, we can’t let him get away," the first man said.

"Fuck, how are we supposed to find him? He’s a goddamn ghost," the other man replied.

Just then, a projectile struck the ground beneath the men and they scrambled back, surprised by the sudden attack.

"What the hell was that?" one of the men cried.

"Look, over there!" the other man pointed.

A ball of fire burst forth from the ground, engulfing the area.

"John!" Octavia shouted as she entered the scene. Dalia followed close behind.

John grinned and entered the scene with a Shockwave.

"You guys are late," he quipped.

"Sorry," Octavia said, flashing him an apologetic smile.

"Let’s take care of these bastards."

"Agreed," John said, a wicked grin forming on his face.

He used his Shockwave again and rushed towards the nearest man.

Octavia followed, her sword in hand.

"Die, bitch!" one of the men shouted and aimed a punch at Octavia’s head.

"Too slow," she said, parrying the punch and slashing the man’s chest.

John used his Shockwave once more and struck another man’s face. The man stumbled back, his nose bleeding.

"I’ll fucking kill you!" the man screamed, lunging forward.

John used his Shockwave and dodged, the man’s momentum causing him to lose balance and fall.

John used the chance and stabbed the man’s neck, killing him instantly.

Maria appeared, firing off more projectiles.

Octavia grinned, "let’s go."

John smirked, "let’s."

The three of them fought the group of men, slaughtering them without mercy.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck, we need to get out of here!"

"Not so fast, asshole," John said as he grabbed the last man by the neck.

"Now, you’re gonna tell us where you came from," he demanded.

"W-we were part of a small group, the others are at our base," the man stuttered, fear evident in his voice.

"And where is this base?" John asked.

"A-a couple kilometres north, it’s an old mall," the man answered, his voice trembling.

"Very well, thank you for your cooperation," John said, his face emotionless.

"Go back and tell your friends that if they want electricity, they can join our community under my rule, but if you come here to cause trouble again, I will kill all of you."

"O-okay, okay, just please let me go," the man begged, his eyes filled with terror.

"I’m a man of my word, you can go," John said.

"Th-thank you," the man said and bolted.

"So, what now?" Maria asked.

"We wait."

"For what?" Octavia asked.

"More people, we’re going to need a lot of them."

"I think this might work," Octavia said.

"It’s worth a try," John agreed.

"For now, I’ll talk to the engineers. You guys go back and send some men to stay here."

Maria, Dalia and Octavia nodded and headed back.

"Alright, boys, we’ve got a lot of work to do." John said and took a look at all the system’s notifications.

He smirked and turned back towards the base.

...

Octavia returned to the power plant the next day with a dozen armed guards and the engineers. John knew he had to speed things up with Maria’s quest. He needed the upgrade for his inventory. With the portable base and its recycling capabilities, he could move tonnes of materials, expand the base and secure the power plant.

Maria had taken the initiative to cook dinner for everyone and John couldn’t help but stare at her tight little butt. She noticed his gaze and looked back, flashing him a smile. John felt his heart skip a beat, and his cock stirring in his pants.

He couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like to take her. To feel her soft, supple skin against his, to hear her moan and scream his name. It was an enticing thought, and he could already picture her writhing underneath him, his cock buried deep inside her.

He shook his head, trying to clear the lewd thoughts from his mind. He had a job to do, and he couldn’t afford to be distracted. But it was hard not to think about it, especially when she was so damn hot.

"I can’t wait for her to leave Marco. She will become mine and her skill will soon be mine as well," John thought, licking his lips.

As if on cue, Marco arrived at the kitchen.

"You know, you don’t have to do this. We have a whole community that can take care of cooking," Marco said, his voice tense.

"I want to, besides, I like cooking," Maria replied, her tone light and cheerful.

"But you shouldn’t have to," Marco insisted, his brow furrowing.

"Marco, why are you here? Why are you bothering me? Go away, I’m busy," Maria shot back, her patience wearing thin.

"Maria, I just wanted to talk," Marco said, his voice soft.

"We have nothing to talk about. Leave me alone," Maria said, dismissing him.

"Maria, please. We need to talk. It’s important," Marco said, his tone pleading.

"We have nothing to talk about. Please leave," Maria repeated, her voice rising.

"I can’t, not without you. I need you," Marco said, his voice strained.

Marco reached out and grabbed her wrist, his grip tight.

"You’re hurting me, Marco. Please, just go away," Maria said, her voice breaking.

"Maria, please. I can’t lose you," he said, his voice desperate.

"Let go of me!" Maria shouted, trying to pull away.

"No, I won’t. I can’t." Marco took out a knife and held it against her throat.

"I can’t lose you," Marco repeated, his voice choked with emotion.

"Marco, stop it. You’re hurting me," Maria said, tears welling up in her eyes.

"I won’t, I won’t. I love you, Maria. I can’t live without you," Marco said, his grip tightening.

"I can’t, please, Marco. I can’t," Maria sobbed, her body shaking with fear and despair.

John approached them.

"Let her go, Marco," he ordered.

"Stay the fuck away! This doesn’t concern you!" Marco yelled, his face contorted in a vicious sneer.

"I’m giving you a chance. Let her go or you’re dead," John said, his tone cold and calm.

"Fuck you, asshole. This is none of your business. This is between me and her. Now, get lost," Marco hissed, his hand trembling.

"I won’t ask again," John said, his eyes narrowing.

"Get out of here, before I kill you," Marco spat.

John smirked and cracked his neck.

"Alright then," he said, a cruel grin spreading across his face.

He lunged forward, his fist connecting with Marco’s jaw. The impact sent him reeling, the knife falling from his grasp.

Maria rushed to John’s side, her face pale and shaken.

"Are you alright?" she asked, her voice trembling.

"I’m fine," John replied, his expression grim.

"I’m sorry, I didn’t mean for any of this to happen," she said, her voice breaking.

"It’s not your fault, Maria."

"I should’ve known he’d never change. I should’ve left him," she said, tears streaming down her face.

"Hey, look at me. You’re not to blame. He made his choice," John said, gently stroking her hair.

"Thank you," Maria said, giving him a weak smile.

"It’s over, Marco. Don’t look for me again," Maria said, turning her back on him.

Just then, the system’s notification chimed and John smirked, his objective complete.
