Chapter 309: A Mark They’ll Never Forget

"Those things explode upon impact, right?" Yohan asked after taking off his ski mask.

"Yeah, so?" Castillo chuckled. "You think putting on a confident face will save you?"

"No," Yohan replied. "I just wanted to make sure."

Something about that answer made Castillo uneasy.

He immediately opened his mouth and fired several black seeds.

Yohan snatched one of the fallen officers’ batons from the floor and swung.

Boom!

The first seed exploded after being knocked aside.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

One after another, the projectiles detonated harmlessly away from him.

The sight shocked everyone present.

Castillo’s eyes widened.

Impossible.

He gritted his teeth and unleashed an even larger barrage, revealing exactly why the item was called Rapid-fire Raisin.

The black seeds poured from his mouth like bullets from a machine gun.

Yet Yohan continued to advance.

His baton blurred through the air, batting aside every projectile before it could reach him.

Explosions erupted around him in rapid succession.

Heat washed over his skin.

Fragments flew past his face.

Still, he never broke concentration.

Step.

Swing.

Explosion.

Step.

Swing.

Explosion.

The longer it continued, the more anxious Castillo became.

Why wasn’t he getting hit?

His ammunition finally ran dry.

Without hesitation, Castillo shoved a hand into his pocket to grab another handful.

That single moment was all Yohan needed.

The baton came crashing across his face.

Crack!

Castillo’s body spun before slamming into the floor.

"Boss!"

His subordinates rushed forward in alarm.

Before Castillo could recover, Yohan stepped on the hand clutching the black seeds.

The gangster cried out in pain, his other hand on his bloody nose.

Yohan stared down at him coldly.

"These items can’t protect you people from me."

Then he swung.

The baton smashed directly into Castillo’s hand.

For a split second, nothing happened.

Then every seed exploded at once.

BOOM!

The blast was heavy

A wave of fire and pressure erupted outward, forcing everyone nearby to shield their faces.

Even Yohan was thrown back a step.

Dust and smoke filled the air.

Castillo’s scream echoed through the room.

When the smoke finally cleared, silence followed.

Castillo lay sprawled on the floor.

His arm was gone from just below the elbow.

The remaining stump was blackened and mangled, blood pouring onto the grass as his body convulsed in agony.

He stared at it with wide, disbelieving eyes.

As if his mind refused to accept what had happened.

Yohan’s own arms had more burns and cuts from the blast, but he ignored them.

Slowly, he stepped past Castillo.

The remaining gangsters instinctively backed away.

Nobody dared attack or speak.

Moments ago, they had surrounded him with confidence.

Now they could only stare wondering if he was a monster wearing human skin. They struggled to breathe under the crushing pressure of fear.

’I guess the more violent I am with the disposal the better’ Yohan thought as he continued inside.

He was sure for most of those people they had just seen something they never expected to happen in their lifetime.

But this was just the beginning, today he would cut the head of the snake and leave a deep mark on everyone present so they’ll never be able to look him in the eye.

Just as he entered he heard a voice he knew so well.

"Yohan,"

He turned to her,

"Izumi, where’s Jenna?"

"I...I don’t know," she looked at his body, bruised, burnt and bloody all over.

The hand that held the baton looked badly damaged that just looking at it made her wince.

"Yohan what happened to you?"

He looked down and it was as if he just remembered about the injuries on his body.

"Don’t worry about it,"

He took out his vial and downed the content, making all his injuries vanish in an instance.

Izumi stared at him with disbelief in her eyes. Her lips shuddered as she tried to speak.

"H-H-How is that possible?"

"Another thing you should not be worrying about, just tell me where is Jenna,"

He needed to know. He wanted to ask her to her face why she betrayed his trust after everything they had been through together.

It was even more hurtful because for the first time he felt he had a true ally, one that trusted his strength and could stand by him, one he could trust with his own life in the face of any danger.

"I don’t know," she shifted her gaze to the floor, "When she left me I heard a commotion outside but when I came out she was already gone, I think one of my grandfather’s men must have taken her,"

"Taken her?" Yohan repeated, his brows furrowed.

"Yes, I think they are going to kill her, please you have to go and save her," Izumi grabbed his arm, with tears already streaming down her face.

Yohan couldn’t understand what was going on anymore, why were they trying to kill Jenna, was it because she confessed to working with him?

"Okay," he replied, "I was already heading that way. You should leave and find a safe place to hide,"

"No, I want to stay with you,"

"Fine. Do what you want, but don’t even think of getting in my way,"

Izumi was shocked by his cold response but the look on his face said he wasn’t here to mess around. This was far more serious than she could’ve ever imagined.

She wanted to ask what his mission here was, but the intensity of the moment made it difficult.

He was definitely here for her grandfather. What did he plan on doing to him? Kill him?

’No, Yohan isn’t that kind of person’

The thought of it scared her and made her inside turn. She didn’t want to see her grandfather get hurt, but she also didn’t want any harm to come to Jenna or Yohan.

She wanted to deny it but something told her today was the day she had been dreading all these years. The day the truth she had tried her best not to see would be laid bare and she would have to face it.

As she followed behind Yohan she could only pray that everything resolves without any issue.
