Chapter 332: Chapter 321 Ongoing Search_2

"We sent it over less than two hours ago, and I think the earliest we can expect results is around four o’clock,"

Zhou Ning nodded and looked at Sun Gaotie.

"Gaotie, wait in the testing department later, and let us know as soon as there’s any news. Remind Mrs. Cui to be especially careful when collecting samples from the parts of the fishing line without blood—where it’s folded. If someone strangled the victim with the fishing line, they might have left DNA. Of course, it’s very likely they wore gloves, given the fishing line is so fine and can easily cut."

"The same principle applies to the vaginal swabs. If the nails could scratch, it means no gloves were worn. This is similar to the technique used in the Red Dress Serial Killings. If we find male DNA in the victim’s mouth or vagina, we need to compare it with the DNA of Mi Qingzi from the ’Semen Spirit’ case."

Sun Gaotie was diligent, carefully jotting down all that Zhou Ning had said before nodding.

"Don’t worry, boss, I’ll go over and keep an eye on it. I’ll also explain these points to Mrs. Cui."

Zhou Ning waved his hand, gesturing for everyone to eat, without asking Xu Dayuan, who smiled, not feeling left out, grabbing two boxes of takeout, giving one to Liu Yufei, and speaking while eating:

"I just went to the hospital and saw Mr. He, who happened to be the one attending to Zhu Yunping. The injuries are severe: compression fractures in the thoracic vertebrae from T3 to T8, three broken ribs on each side, a fractured sternum, bilateral fractures of the tibia and fibula, a comminuted fracture in the right humerus, avulsion injuries to three fingers on the right hand, contusion to the lungs, and a ruptured spleen. Rambling, pupils contracted, typical symptoms of a D overdose."

"Mr. He convened a medical consultation with specialists from thoracic surgery, general surgery, orthopedics, and fiber surgery. They are performing surgery right now. I’ve had the traffic police contact Zhu Kelin, only informing them that Zhu Yunping was in a traffic accident. They didn’t disclose anything about the dead body in the car. Zhu Yunping’s blood sample has just been delivered to Mr. Cui."

Mr. Zhao blinked.

"You guys seem to have made no progress; I thought you’d found the primary crime scene. According to Zhou Xiaozhou’s analysis, the victim’s hands were held with interlaced fingers, leaving nail prints behind, and this person might have had sexual contact with the victim and could even be the murderer."

Xu Dayuan snorted, not really caring, and then continued:

"Mr. Zeng and Zhenshan went to investigate at Qin University and the modeling school separately. I talked with Fu Wendan’s father. That girl, aside from being pretty with a great figure, was always lagging at the bottom of her class. Her total scores for all subjects didn’t even reach two hundred points, which is why she became a model."

"However, her parents didn’t have the means to help her, and the school has a rife culture of comparison. She was obedient during her first year there, but from last year, she started just asking for money, barely contacting them otherwise, demanding four or five thousand each month."

"Since last New Year’s Day, Fu Wendan began taking part-time jobs and asked them for money less frequently, not staying home during the entire winter holiday, always running around, and sometimes not returning home for ten days. Her father didn’t approve of her dress style, but he couldn’t say much; it would only lead to arguments."

"Regarding part-time work, it was an agency called Shengshi that was arranging her jobs. Sometimes she would do catwalks at nightclubs, sometimes at opening ceremonies. However, after the new year, it seemed like she stopped doing those gigs, and what she did instead, Fu Yingjun couldn’t explain clearly."

Liu Yongxin squinted.

"So, you’re saying that through these part-time jobs, she met some people and no longer needed to work hard like before, that’s why she stopped doing part-time work?"

Xu Dayuan nodded.

"That’s what I’m thinking, but it’s all speculation. That’s why I asked Mr. Zeng and the others to ask around at the school. I think the people there would know something since everyone’s in the same circle. Girls are especially jealous and more prone to notice their classmates’ business."

Xu Dayuan felt frustrated.

"Stop with the wisecracks. I’ve consulted with the traffic police to analyze the vehicle’s trajectory and have followed through several surveillance cameras. They came from the East Li Overpass, though which ramp exactly they came up is still being analyzed. I just wanted to see what Mr. Qu had found here."

Mr. Qu shook his head.

"I got up to here too. I just found that the Lexus appeared on the East Li Overpass. At various ramps, we spotted three vehicles of a similar color but haven’t tracked them further. Then you showed up."

Xu Dayuan waved his chopsticks.

"You’re the reliable one, kid. Hurry up and eat. After you finish, help me take a closer look. Later, I’ll have the traffic police grant you network access privileges so you can directly look things up."

Mr. Qu smiled, pleased with this arrangement.

Without much conversation, everyone hurried to finish their meal. Mr. Zhao opened an extra box and picked out the broccoli for Zhu Xingxing, who ate silently without daring to look up.

Xu Dayuan glanced over, pretending not to notice, and after they finished, Sun Gaotie cleaned up and went straight to stake out the forensic department.

The group went directly to the laboratory, where Mr. Qu began searching rapidly. Liu Yongxin, sipping tea, pulled Xu Dayuan aside.

"Did you call Zhu Kelin here because you found something?"

Xu Dayuan nodded, aware of Liu Yongxin’s sharpness from their years of cooperation and mutual understanding. There wasn’t much point in hiding anything.

"I had Zhenshan check Zhu Yunping’s call records and bank information. The amounts in his bank statements are quite alarming. Even for a second-generation rich student, such spending is inconceivable, not counting buying cars, yachts, or modifying vehicles.

Just eating and drinking alone, he spends hundreds of thousands in a month. Moreover, he has many transfer records, with four people receiving regular monthly transfers, happening quite frequently, almost every three or four days. I suspect this is related to buying ’D’ products.

Comparing the call records, one of those people is the second son of Bai Xinfeng, the vice president of Haichanglong, and someone who was involved with Zhu Kelin in forcing Li Fang’s father out of the company as part of a cleanup operation. That person used to be a financial manager and now oversees real estate business.

This second son is Bai Xiangrong, a year older than Zhu Yunping, but started school a year later. He has been attending school with Zhu Yunping since elementary school and is currently studying computer science with him at Qin University."

Liu Yongxin slapped his forehead in realization.

"I forgot about that, yes, that kid is studying computer science at Qin University. We even had Doctor Lu collect his DNA before. But isn’t today March 15th, Thursday? Shouldn’t they have classes at the university? How do they have time to race cars and use ’D’? And Bai Xiangrong, did he also not go to school today?"

Xu Dayuan nodded.

"The last call was from a Qin University office to Zhu Yunping this morning. We checked, and it came from the computer science department’s office. We asked about it, and they were looking for Zhu Yunping and Bai Xiangrong since neither of them showed up for class today, and the teacher was bound to ask questions.

They called in sick yesterday and said they were going to see a doctor because Bai Xiangrong had a stomach ache, and Zhu Yunping took him. The instructor, fearing the kids were really sick, wanted to contact their parents. Zhu Yunping answered the phone, saying they would return by noon. As for Bai Xiangrong, we haven’t been able to contact him yet."

Zhou Ning frowned slightly. Since he took on this line of work, encountering such events forced him to consider the worst in people. Yet, even so, sometimes it was impossible to imagine the depths of human depravity.

Bai Xiangrong and Zhu Yunping could hang out together, likely with some encouragement from Bai’s father. If such close companions were involved with these substances, it was unlikely the other would be clean. As for the victim, she might have been their plaything.

After all, many affluent young men like to seek out female students from nursing, modeling, or flight attendant schools. These girls often look outstanding but fall short academically.

However, they are very savvy in certain respects, knowing how to sell themselves. They are picked up by various luxury cars at the school gates on weekends or after school. Some even take pride in such competition, rather than feeling ashamed, thinking highly of themselves.

Fu Wendan came from a less wealthy family, and in such an environment, her choices were limited, almost a foregone conclusion, especially given her beauty. Her father also mentioned the changes in the girl.

If they hadn’t encountered them today, Zhu Yunping wouldn’t have received timely treatment, and the ready-mix concrete truck driver would hardly have escaped death, potentially turning the incident into what might be considered an ordinary traffic accident.

Who would benefit from such an outcome?
