Chapter 1101: Chapter 1097: Won’t Do Anything Self-Destructive
Asher Land walked to Irene Morton’s door, hesitated for a moment, but eventually opened the door and went inside.
"Brother Asher..." Irene’s expression finally eased a bit when she saw Asher Land come in.
Asher Land just responded with an ’um,’ and sat down at her bedside.
Although Irene was lying in bed, her hands were restrained. Asher Land reached out and released her bound hands.
She rubbed her wrists and softly said, "Thank you."
"How are you feeling today?" He used the most monotonous tone, like an obligatory inquiry, devoid of any emotion.
Irene lowered her eyes. After a long while, a weak smile tugged at her lips, "I’m feeling good today."
"Um." He didn’t seem to have anything more to say to her. He stood up, intending to leave, but hesitated when he glanced at Irene’s freed hands.
"Don’t worry, I won’t do anything self-destructive tonight." Irene’s lips curled with a hint of self-mockery.
Asher Land didn’t bind her hands again. He just summoned a servant to take turns watching over her.

Every day a psychologist would come to give Irene guidance, but to her, it seemed utterly futile.
Her addiction often relapsed. Sometimes she thought she was normal, but within two or three days, she would uncontrollably start yearning for those things again.
Sophie Smith sat on the sofa in the hall when Alexander suddenly ran over to her, looking rather distressed.
"Mommy, what’s wrong with the aunt upstairs? It’s so scary." Alexander hid in Sophie Smith’s arms, seemingly frightened by something Irene had done.
She offered a few words of comfort and, after thinking it over, decided to send Alexander out of the Land Family household.
"Alexander, would you like to go stay at Teacher Lee’s for a while? Or perhaps at Uncle Luke’s?" Sophie Smith suggested tentatively to Alexander.
"No, I don’t want to leave Mommy and Daddy."
"But,..." Sophie Smith was about to say something when she looked up and saw Asher Land approaching.
Asher Land had heard the conversation between Sophie and Alexander and agreed with her decision.
"Alexander, listen to your mommy. Go to your uncle’s place, and we’ll visit you often." Alexander was quite obedient to Asher Land’s orders, so he didn’t argue further when Asher mentioned it casually.
In the afternoon, Asher Land personally drove Alexander to Luke Land’s place.
Eva Miller happened to be free, and she was quite willing to look after Alexander. Asher Land gave them a few instructions and hugged Alexander to share some words before leaving.
Alexander was unfamiliar with the Land residence. He sat on the sofa, feeling a little downhearted.
Eva Miller kept coaxing and entertaining him. Although Alexander didn’t truly feel happy, he still forced a smile to cooperate with Eva. The afternoon passed quickly, and after dinner, Alexander wanted to rest in his room.
"Can you sleep alone?" Eva Miller was slightly worried, since it wasn’t the same as being in his own home.
"Don’t worry, I can handle it, Aunt Eva."
"Pff!" For some reason, hearing the word ’aunt’ instantly made Eva Miller feel much older.
"Alright then, sleep by yourself tonight." Eva knew Alexander’s strong sense of independence, so she didn’t say more.
