Chapter 848: Chapter 848 The Most Regrettable Thing_1
Jimmy Simmons wheeled over to Tiffany, gently taking her hand. "Tiffany, people like her are not worth speaking for. This was originally yours," he said, "and you shouldn’t feel guilty about it. Women like her, ha..."
The man let out a cold laugh. Though he didn’t continue, the chill and disgust in his eyes said it all.
Tiffany Lynch lowered her gaze, revealing a satisfied smile, her voice delicate, "I just didn’t want to disturb you, actually. You’ve been so busy with work recently, and it pains me to see it."
"Tiffany," Jimmy frowned, his gaze on the woman softening, "if it hadn’t been for you saving me back then, I might have been left dead on the roadside, so nothing is more important than you."
The man’s gaze was steadfast as he spoke the touching sweet nothings, but Tiffany’s body tensed almost imperceptibly.
Her eyes drifted toward the man’s injured legs, panic briefly crossing her gaze before she forced it down, yet her palms began to sweat.
Though Jimmy now harbored affection for her, she still dared not let Arnold Simmons know the truth about that incident.
The person who had caused his accident and left him in a wheelchair was her.
Even though his legs weren’t disabled and the wounds were healing, Tiffany always knew that Jimmy was someone who held grudges and was vengeful by nature.
He was willful by nature and would not heed discipline.
Back in school, one of his girlfriends merely stained his clothes by accident, and he had her slapped across the face in front of the whole class.
One moment he appeared gently doting, the next filled with disdain and hatred.
It could even be described as pathological.
Tiffany had seen such acts more than once. At the time, she knew Jimmy was fond of her, so even after witnessing such behavior, she would sometimes take pleasure in it.
She was confident that his feelings for her were special, and that he would never treat her in the same way.
But now, that confidence was gone.
Jimmy’s feelings for her, though partly rooted in a youthful adoration, were also founded on his gratitude for her having saved his life.
"Tiffany, what are you daydreaming about?"
Jimmy’s voice suddenly rang in her ear, startling Tiffany. She quickly withdrew her hand from his grasp and stood up.
Seeing the woman’s panic, Jimmy narrowed his eyes slightly, a hint of confusion in his gaze.
Tiffany quickly resumed her perfect smile, "Jimmy, I have an appointment soon, so I need to leave first."
Jimmy’s eyes softened gently, "Rest well, and if you need anything, you can come to me."
The joy diffused her previous fear, and Tiffany relaxed a bit, "Thank you, Jimmy."
Only after he watched Tiffany enter the elevator did Jimmy drop the smile from his face.
Turning to Hank Ward beside him, his usual somber expression returned, "Did Arnold come to the company today?"
Hank Ward bowed slightly, "Yes, but he should be about to leave by now."
Jimmy chuckled sardonically, his knuckles white as he gripped the armrests, veins faintly visible. "I knew it," he sneered, "the Simmons Clan is such a big piece of meat; that old fox Arnold wouldn’t let it go easily."
The thing he regretted most in his life was not having beaten Arnold to death back then; sparing him had ultimately led to his own downfall.
He had been too complacent, but this time he definitely wouldn’t make such a naive mistake again.
Hank knew that Jimmy was once again recalling the past, seeing that familiar grim expression.
Back then, the bloody scene had been gruesome.
