Chapter 840: Chapter 840 Return it back_1

He clenched his fist, but eventually loosened it, forcing himself to calm down.

"Hannah, I seldom give people a second chance," he began, "I hope you will consider it carefully rather than getting upset with me here."

Hannah wrapped her arms around herself lazily, her slender fingertips entwined with the kite string. The colorful kite swayed back and forth in the breeze, like a butterfly ensnared, unable to break free no matter how it struggled.

She spoke with an indifferent expression, but her voice carried a hint of laughter and provocation, "Funny, I also seldom despise someone so much."

Hannah was lazy, her personality was lethargic; she couldn’t muster up love or hate easily, her emotions were faint. Disliking someone usually stemmed from a subconscious impulse.

Like Tiffany Lynch, like Jackie Qualls, and now George River had joined the list.

For the first time, she realized that the domineering boss of the novels, when brought before her, wasn’t wickedly charming or wildly arrogant but rather juvenile and presumptuous.

The thought processes of the two were completely out of sync.

George River was convinced that Hannah’s hatred stemmed from love, that at her core, she couldn’t let go of him.

Then he fell silent for a few seconds, "Hannah, I know you hate me for abandoning you, you want revenge," he paused for a second, and the domineering boss’s confidence came flooding in, "come back to me, and you can get your revenge or torment me however you wish, we’ll be entangled for a lifetime."

Hannah thought George River must be seriously ill. These were words the original owner of her body had longed for all her life, not even able to let go of her love for George River before dying.

But she merely feigned surprise to oblige, then curved her eyes.

Sunlight filtered through the leaves, filling her eyes with brightness as she slowly said, "You don’t mean to say, you love me, do you?"

Her amber eyes shone brilliantly, her porcelain-white face wearing a slightly puzzled expression as she stood there with graceful poise, leaving George River breathless.

Even in dreams, words he had never uttered inadvertently slipped out, "Yes, I love you."

Having spoken, it was as though he had awakened from a dream, filled with some regret for uttering those words too soon, but more than that, he was eager for Hannah’s response.

Perhaps she would be moved by it. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

Unfortunately, Hannah’s expression remained unchanged. "Did you ever think about one thing when you said those words?"

George River was startled, "What?"

From her lusciously red lips came cold words, her smile still charming but tinged with a chilling undertone, "Are you worthy?"

The three all-too-familiar words hit George River’s ears like icy snowflakes, evaporated by the sunshine, but leaving behind a bone-chilling cold.

The same evaluation he had once bestowed upon others was now returned to him word for word by Hannah.

Initially, George River just felt an icy chill in his limbs; the three words he had provoked from her became the very blade he had handed over for her to repeatedly thrust into his heart, leaving him bleeding profusely and in excruciating pain.

"You did this on purpose, right? You’re purposely saying these words to torment me," he accused.

He didn’t realize that this sentence, meant to defend her, sounded more like he was consoling himself.

Hannah ignored him, the upward curve of her eye corners hinting at a faint smile. The eyes she cast downward seemed to George River like a deliberate avoidance and distance.

George River couldn’t help but roar lowly, "Speak!"

"What do you want me to say?" Hannah looked up, her voice calm, "I’ve already said it before, you’re a scum. Initially, you found a true love substitute for your so-called deep feelings, later abandoned the substitute for true love, and now you’ve even abandoned true love. Your love is too cheap, it’s not so much that you love me, but rather you love yourself."
