Chapter 822: Chapter 822: More Than a Match_1

"But I heard Mr. Landon really likes her, even saying she sings very well."

"You believe that? It’s probably just because she paid the right price, and those fans of hers just keep hyping her up. It can’t be that great."

"Lily, could it be that you’re too biased? I’ve seen Hannah Winter act before, and she really is good, not to mention beautiful. Although I haven’t followed their talent show, I imagine that to become the center position, her abilities can’t be that bad."

Lily Davis snorted with a proud look on her face, "Actors should just stick to acting. Why bother mixing into our singer’s circle? Those idols, how many of them can do without autotune? When the time comes..."

Before she could finish her sentence, the door to the rest room was pushed open.

Seeing the newcomer, everyone’s expression turned a bit awkward.

Lily was the only one who didn’t seem to care, even rolling her eyes, "Just a pretty face, that’s all."

Jack Stewart had already furrowed his brow, looking ready to roll up his sleeves and start arguing fiercely.

In the end, it was Hannah who stopped him.

Turning to everyone with a slight smile, her gaze swept across the room and finally rested on Lily Davis, "It seems like everyone knows a lot about me."

At those words, some caught on.

They hurriedly smiled and tried to smooth things over, "You’re Hannah, right? We were just talking nonsense, don’t take it to heart. Lily just speaks her mind, but she doesn’t have a bad heart really."

The girl was trying to make excuses for what Lily had said earlier, but obviously, Lily was having none of it.

"I’m just speaking the truth. This is the stage for professional singers; what’s an idol doing here stirring things up?"

Her voice was loud, audible to everyone in the room.

Jack couldn’t help but retort, "What does being good at singing do for you? Nasty mouth and no class. You’re less pleasant than a wild boar screeching."

Lily was furious, pointing at Jack, she yelled, "Who are you calling a wild boar!"

Jack looked away, "The shoe fits whoever is responding."

Lily, blind with anger, charged forward, ready to fight, and Jack was not about to back down.

Just as they were about to come to blows, Hannah stepped in and blocked Lily’s path.

Lily glared at her.

Hannah maintained a calm and serene face, "Miss Davis seems very confident in her own abilities?"

Lily lifted her chin, "Of course."

She was young but had received plenty of praise both at school and from the coaches on previous shows.

Singing was something she was naturally gifted at, so her pride was to be expected.

With this thought, her confidence grew, "So, you want to compete with me?"

Hannah withdrew her hand and said with a light smile, "This doesn’t seem to be a competitive show."

Lily was taken aback, thinking Hannah was scared, and snorted, "That’s true. Our show is live without any voice correction or backing tracks, and the audience is professional as well. It’s understandable that you’re afraid."

Hannah’s smile remained unchanged as she gently brushed the blue earring by her ear.

The lobe swayed lightly, casting a deep blue glow.

"It seems Miss Davis has quite a misunderstanding about me."

"Just an idol," Lily dismissed. "Hannah Winter, dare you compete with me?"

This was a declaration of war.

Lily already had a bias against idols and, indeed, as she had imagined, the few idols she had encountered before were all lacking talent. Without voice correction during rehearsals, it was a disaster to the ears.

They had no real talent, yet they had so many fans.

This only fueled her feelings of discontent.

Hannah nodded, "Okay."
