Chapter 693: Chapter 693: You’re Not Worthy
Unable to contain it any longer, he bent over into a violent cough, tears and mucus covering his face, feeling absolutely miserable.
Louis Snyder stood by, a look of apology on his face but a touch of cold disdain in his eyes, "I’m sorry, I didn’t do it on purpose, are you alright, Mr. Hanson?"
Owen Hanson was furious, wanted to curse, but as soon as he opened his mouth, his throat felt incredibly uncomfortable, disrupting even his breathing. Struggling to open his eyes, everything appeared blurry, but he did make out the smug curve at the corner of the young man’s lips.
He was exasperated, "you...you did that on purpose, didn’t you."
Louis Snyder had little reaction. His voice carried a shroud of feigned helplessness and innocence, "Mr. Hanson, I really didn’t do it on purpose. I just didn’t see you there. If you’re upset, why not splash me with a glass of water too?"
With a face like that, along with his demeanor and actions, he really did seem like an innocent young man who didn’t know what to do after causing trouble, making it hard for anyone to reproach him.
Even Hilary Quin stepped forward to put in a good word for Louis Snyder.
Owen Hanson was so furious he almost blacked out and collapsed. He knew that the young man in front of him did it on purpose, but his words had twisted the situation in his favor and any further confrontation would just make him look bad.
He had no choice but to swallow his anger.
Hannah looked over when she heard the commotion, meeting Louis Snyder’s harmless smile, his eyes filled with complacency.
But she knew, this black-hearted innocuously, whenever he caused trouble, he was always wrapped in an innocent guise that made people never associate him with it.
James Landon tugged at Hannah’s sleeve, his nearsighted eyes unable to see the situation clearly, but the person beside him was crystal clear, "Hannah, do you know Louis Snyder?"
Hannah, ignoring the burning gaze on her, spoke calmly, "Not well."
Those two words strangulated Louis Snyder’s attempt to approach her.
Seeing Hannah reluctant to say more, James Landon didn’t press further, but took one more glance at Louis Snyder who stood at a distance before averting his gaze.
The simple welcome party didn’t last long. Everyone began to drift apart within half an hour.
When leaving, Owen Hanson finally approached Louis Snyder when no one was around, and threatened him.
Louis Snyder hung his head low, appearing compliant and obedient, murmuring apologies, but his gaze was fixated on Hannah.
Watching Hannah and James Landon leave, his eyes grew cold, a malicious sneer found its way onto his face, as he spat out a condescending, "Fool."
Owen Hanson froze, the veins on his forehead nearly popped out of his skin, "Repeat what you just said?"
The innocent mannerism of the young man took on an abrupt change, it was all perverse and sinister now, the smile on his face was chillingly cold, "You think you’re even worthy of having her?"
*
Hannah went to hear a bit of James Landon’s newly composed song.
She didn’t stay long, but when she left, she caught the news of Owen Hanson twisting his ankle on the road and tumbling into a field, which incidentally knocked over a bucket of "fertilizer" that a villager had left in the field.
The disgrace was unbearable. Even the staff who fished him out couldn’t hold back their laughter and vomited on the spot, underlining the extent of Owen Hanson’s miserable predicament.
This was the second mishap.
A crowd had gathered to discuss this incident.
A staff member who witnessed the entire "rescue" process narrated the tale enthusiastically, after finishing, found it odd, "I really don’t know how Mr. Hanson fell off, it was a flat cement road with weeds on the side."
