Chapter 666: Chapter 666: Uninvited
But they regrettably changed their minds midway.
No other reason than that Hannah agreed to participate in the show.
Based on the time of debut, Hilary Quin was naturally the senior. However, based on recent popularity, although she reckoned as a celebrity highlight, there was a gap compared to Hannah.
Understandably, the show tended to spotlight Hannah. George Quach also contributed to it.
He was passionate about Hannah.
However, no matter how you look at it, amongst the four, James Landon was the most significant celeb, and Hannah was the most popular. Hilary Quin was absolutely not in the running or being considered.
Hilary’s agency was obviously not willing to accept this. They tried everything possible to demand the spotlight for Hilary. George didn’t budge, which led to their halting participation in the show. Risking compensation for cancellation, it was a form of threat.
Unexpectedly, George, a brand new producer, remained silent, planning to stay the course.
Hilary’s agency could not swallow the insult, and in the end, Hilary herself came with gritted teeth.
She arrived the day before the filming, bringing her little niece with her.
Of course, she was displeased. At the start of the show, she came as a special guest tutor. Hannah was a nondescript trainee then. But now Hannah was about to surpass her.
Apart from being resentful of competing against Hannah, she was also mad because the younger celebrities from her time had already secured good variety show opportunities. Hilary was late and had deliberately stalled George, refusing to agree to pressure pricing.
But there was no other way now. She just had to put on a thick skin and turn up uninvited.
Matthew Quach didn’t seem too pleased, his attitude was cold, "There’s no spot for you even if you come now."
Hilary’s smile stiffened. "About what transpired earlier, I know my agent offended you. I apologise for him, I wasn’t aware due to my filming. The moment I received the news, I rushed over immediately, you see..."
Having spoken as far as this, Hilary was clearly showing humility.
George couldn’t be too ruthless.
It’s normal for variety shows to have scripts. There were also three scriptwriters accompanying them. Initially, they wrote for four celebrities and four children. It was only when Hilary said she would not show up that they made last-minute revisions.
If Hilary wanted to rejoin, the only option was to revert to the original script.
Composed and calm, George took a sip from his glass. "Pre-show promotions have been done. It is impossible to change them now. Also, regarding the previous issue, whether you’re the principal spotlight... "
"You don’t have to worry about that; I don’t mind if I’m not the lead." Hilary interrupted, appearing to have kept her smile natural.
She pulled at the hand of her little niece and introduced her, "Little Butterfly, say hi to everyone."
As the niece of a celebrity, Little Butterfly also had a bit of stardom charm. She looked somewhat pampered, wearing tiny sunglasses.
She reluctantly waved to Pineapple Head and Phoebe, then turned to whisper to Hilary, "Aunt, her skirt is damn ugly."
She was talking about Phoebe.
Seemingly unsatisfied, she added, "And that chubby kid, as fat as a pig and sniffling, so disgusting."
With her two sentences, she had offended two children.
Even James Landon, who was usually quiet, furrowed his brows, wanting to say something but not knowing what to say.
Phoebe wasn’t thick-skinned. Upon being spoken about like this, she was immediately on the verge of tears. Pineapple Head was comforting her on the side, "You’re not ugly, you’re not ugly. She’s the ugly one. We won’t play with her anymore."
Hilary did not care about the children’s issues and focused on touching up her make-up on the side, worried about being outshone by Hannah.
