Chapter 652: Chapter 652: Blaming You

But even so, Arnold Simmons perceived something different, uttering, "Nonsense."

As he spoke, his words were icy cold, looking as if he wanted to release his hold and put her down, but he was tightly embraced by the young girl in his arms.

The girl’s voice was soft and tender, her eyes carrying the mesmerizing charm of the night, as she furrowed her brows, "I lost my shoe."

He looked down and, sure enough, saw Hannah only wearing a thin sock on one foot. Perhaps due to the chilly night wind, her toes were tightly curled, looking a little pitiful. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

"Why didn’t you say so earlier?"

He reckoned it must have dropped by the rocks.

Looking back, Arnold Simmons found his anger laughable, it was just a joke, yet he had taken it seriously.

Perhaps he couldn’t bear to hear her speak about falling in love with someone else one day.

He knew better than anyone that his girl was innocent and gullible, being easily flattered. If someone deliberately deceived her and said things she wanted to hear, she might genuinely run off with them.

At this thought, Arnold Simmons furrowed his brows even more, his thin lips pressed tightly into a straight line, and even his eyes carried a palpable chill.

Hannah didn’t notice, furrowing her brow as she muttered, "It’s all because you teased me."

"You were the first to provoke me," he retorted, observing Hannah’s puffed cheeks. Yet he again found his irritation laughable, contemplating over trivial matters, "Do you want to go back and get it?"

Hannah shook her head, her legs tightly wrapped around his waist, "No need, I have lots of shoes like that."

Arnold Simmons didn’t argue further, carrying her all the way back to the car.

At the moment he released her, his arm felt exhausted, perhaps due to their playful antics earlier.

That night.

After taking a bath, Hannah couldn’t wait to climb onto the bed and seeing Arnold Simmons busy working with glasses on, she quietly sat down on the side.

She was holding two toys in her hand.

One golden lotus, one was its pink kitty girlfriend.

Both had silly, identical smiles.

The golden lotus was forced to stiffly maintain a smiling expression to go along with Hannah’s bored pretend-play.

It proposed getting a new girlfriend but its owner not only didn’t agree but also scolded it.

"Whether as a human or a dog, one should be devoted, how can you love everyone you see!"

Its counterargument was that it was just tired of looking at the same toy.

Hannah was even more furious, "At this rate, I’ll take you for a neutering operation."

The golden lotus instantly felt a chill, henceforth not daring to bring up the matter again.

However, now it felt a sense of repression, looking at the pink kitty grinning stupidly across from it.

For the first time, it felt that the fussy tortoise wasn’t completely without its merits, at least it could move.

After playing a while, Hannah got bored and carelessly placed the two toys by the bedside. Turning back, she saw Arnold Simmons in the same position as before.

With that, she snuck under his arm to peek at the screen.

The computer screen was filled with foreign text.

After a quick glance, Hannah, uninterested in business matters, simply rested in his arms, looking up at his face.

The man, wearing glasses, exhibited an even stronger aura of abstinence. His striking features exuded an intimidating aura. The narrow and deep eyes behind the glasses gave a somber and chill impression. Despite his exquisite features, his intimidating demure made people shudder upon lingering too long.

Yet it was such a person that made others want to be closer, to discover his other side.
