Chapter 554: Chapter 554: Different Attitudes
His heart was thrown into chaos from just the slightest provocation by the person in front of him.
"What if I say I would?" He answered subconsciously, not even realizing what he had just said.
Only after the words left his mouth did he snap back to reality, but it was too late to take them back. They weren’t earth-shattering, but he couldn’t recollect them either.
He met the girl’s eyes filled with teasing laughter and remained silent for a long time without a reply. It was as if he realized something.
A quiet sigh escaped him, yet his face softened into a more gentle smile. "I’m sorry, I misspoke earlier."
Hannah shook her head, "Mr. Qualls, you always seem to be saying one thing and meaning another. Has anyone ever told you that you’re insincere?"
Jackie Qualls remained silent, lips pressed tightly together.
"Guess not then." Hannah’s gaze moved from the jade pendant on the man’s waist to his warm face, followed by a soft chuckle, "Mr. Qualls, you really aren’t very likable or adorable like this."
A shadow crossed Jackie’s eyes, just as he was about to say something, Jack Stewart emerged from the room, gripping onto large and small bags.
He was grumbling, "It’s like you’re moving house every time you join a crew."
Hannah glanced at him, "Don’t complain. There’s stuff for you inside too, like mini skirts."
Jack was taken aback, his gaze shifted to Jackie standing aside, "Are you trying to kill me? Saying such nonsense in front of others, those are clearly your mini skirts."
Hannah shrugged, "Fine, fine, they’re all mine. Pack everything up, let’s go."
Jack nodded and gestured for the assistant behind him to follow.
The assistant, a young man, was somewhat excited seeing the famous actor up close for the first time. But he only gave a quick greeting before hurrying after them.
Hannah looked up, waving at the man, "Mr. Qualls, I should go. I hope the next time we meet, you’ll be less roundabout and more sincere."
She left.
The corridor was suddenly quiet.
Jackie’s gaze fell to the tightly shut door in front of him, reflecting on the girl’s words, he found them amusing.
But after the laughter, there was a growing sense of melancholy.
She even seemed closer to the staff around her than to him.
Even if she stood still, he couldn’t seem to get any closer to her.
He felt helpless and bewildered.
She wished he would be more straightforward. He had the same wish, but given his position, he had to tread carefully. The tragedies from his past were a constant weight on his mind.
He couldn’t be as carefree as before.
He dared not.
At least for now, if any problem arises, he can protect her.
If she needs that...

Just as Hannah left the film crew, Tiffany Lynch’s agent also immediately went to request leave from Richard Lee.
Even though she was reluctant to appear in the same program as Hannah again, the current situation leaves her with no choice.
However, after receiving Tiffany’s leave request, Richard Lee responded completely differently than he did to Hannah’s.
He disagreed.
No matter what Tiffany’s agent said, he disagreed.
The reason was simple. As the leading actress, although her scenes were not plentiful in the early stages, she would be absolutely indispensable to the later shoot.
If she were to return to record the variety show, she would need at least three days.
In these three days, the entire crew would have to wait for Tiffany, all the equipment would have to be idle. This would lead to significant costs.
Seeing Richard Lee’s firm stance, the agent had no choice but to play the George River card.
After all, they could postpone the film shoot, but Hannah Winter wouldn’t adjust to their schedule.
