Chapter 518: Chapter 518: The Audition Ends

After the audition, even if Richard Lee was extremely satisfied in his heart, he still made it a point to tell Hannah to return home and wait for the news.

He kept a calm demeanor on the surface.

From just one glance, Hannah knew that she probably had this role in the bag.

She wasn’t overly triumphant, but having gotten more insight into the plot regarding the character of Princess Chill, the demon clan princess, she felt that it was even more to her taste.

She left through the back door, not passing through the room where she had previously waited.

Those who had been waiting in anticipation for quite a while felt somewhat disappointed.

They had taken for granted that Hannah, being an idol who got her start through talent shows, would definitely not be up to par in her acting skills. Most of them were more concerned about whether her good looks would become a free pass for her.

After all, that’s just how the entertainment industry works these days.

A pretty face means more than anything else.

As Hannah walked out of the door, Jackie was right behind her. Wearing a baseball cap, he was hardly recognizable as the well-known Best Actor Qualls in a place with few people.

Just before they reached their destination, Hannah turned around and smiled at the tall man following her, "Aren’t there still many people auditioning? Doesn’t Mr. Qualls need to be observing?"

The man lifted his head, revealing his gentle face, his voice quiet and soft, "Today, I’m just here to observe, I don’t have a say in the casting process."

After saying this, he added after a thought, "Director Lee is very satisfied with you, you will probably receive a notice to join the team very soon."

Hannah slightly raised her head, looking into the man’s soft gaze, "Is Mr. Qualls saying that I’ve got this because of insider connections?"

Jackie shook his head, "You did a great job today, Director Lee highly values you."

What he said was the truth.

He had known Director Lee for quite some time and knew him to be very persistent and rarely praised anyone, let alone be satisfied with anyone.

But Hannah seemed to be the exception today.

Even as an award-winning actor himself, he had to admit Hannah’s performance was indeed quite excellent.

Her performance was not full of tension like seasoned actors might have, it was just extremely pleasing to watch.

She laughed brightly, "Can I take this as the best actor affirming my acting skills?"

Jackie nodded, "Of course."

After a few brief words, Hannah turned to leave, but Jackie suddenly stopped her.

He remembered the controversy online and was worried that Hannah might be upset.

However, Hannah simply shook her head, her eyes showing no sign of sorrow, "Mr. Qualls might not understand me. I think being tortured slowly like slicing flesh with a dull knife is even worse."

Her words were blunt.

Jackie stared at her for quite some time before he finally spoke, "In the industry, you will come across many more things like this. Don’t take it to heart, just focus on your performance. There are still many opportunities for you."

Hannah nodded and then smiled, "Actually, I’ve been curious about something. Did Mr. Qualls have a feeling about something going on before I got onstage that night?"

The silence was Jackie’s answer. He had difficulty putting his feelings into words, a trace of guilt and sorrow in his eyes.

Hannah pretended not to notice, and holding the car keys, she waved at him, "I was just teasing, don’t overthink it, I have to go."

With that, she turned to get into her car which was parked nearby.

The car roared to life, kicking up a cloud of dust.

Jackie couldn’t help but cough a few times in response, looking somewhat amused once he recovered.

She was mad at him.

A week later, just as the internet controversy was beginning to die down, another news item suddenly exploded across the web.

The key antagonist role of Princess Chill in the movie Fairy, directed by Richard Lee and starring the best actor Jackie, was formally announced.

The promotional material from the production company was a beautifully made solo poster.
