Chapter 515: Chapter 515: All Without Makeup
"Pfft, I reckon Hannah Winter has no chance; I heard she was a complete novice before her debut and probably doesn’t have much acting experience."
"You’re uninformed. Hannah is a film school student, officially trained in the profession."
Someone added more fuel to the fire, and the atmosphere on the scene instantly intensified, hostility grew deeper.
The woman retorted, "So what if she’s in school? She’s not even focusing on her studies but running off to auditions. These days, no one likes idols who act in movies. She must be failing in school, which is why she’s auditioning."
Before anyone could say anything, the door to the audition hall was pushed open from the inside.
It was someone who had just auditioned.
The girl appeared to be in her early twenties, and she looked utterly heartbroken, sobbing uncontrollably.
The others quickly crowded around her to find out what had happened.
In the corner, Hannah lowered her sunglasses with her index finger, revealing a pair of beautifully shaped, bright black eyes.
Her gaze fell directly behind the crying girl.
She could vaguely see into the dimly lit audition hall, but she couldn’t see who was inside.
With just one glance, Hannah retracted her gaze, put her sunglasses back on, crossed her arms, closed her eyes, and rested, showing no interest in the condition of the previous auditionees.
By now, the crowd had started buzzing with questions.
"What does it look like inside, were there many people, was Director Lee also there?"
"What was the audition piece? Are we allowed to improvise, or do we perform according to Director Lee’s script?"
"Stop crying, what happened inside? Don’t you see we’re all anxious here?"
The girl was gentle, she didn’t get mad at the relentless questioning. Instead, she stifled a sob, "There were a lot of people inside, not just the director but the screenwriter and Best Actor Qualls too."
"Is Jackie Qualls on site?"
Someone exclaimed.
Before the casting call, it was announced that the male lead was Jackie Qualls, which was a selling point for the story, but none of them expected Jackie to be present at the audition.
It seemed that he was also involved in casting.
With this info, many started to get ideas, pulling out mirrors to touch up their makeup, eager to leave a good impression on the Best Actor.
That would be an extraordinary opportunity indeed if they got selected to star opposite him.
But half-done with their makeup, the girl who had just auditioned spoke up again, "As soon as I entered, Director Lee said that all auditioning actors, male or female, must be bare-faced."
This declaration caught everyone off guard.
Especially those who had the heaviest makeup, they suddenly did not know how to handle this requirement.
However, the crying girl didn’t care about others’ thoughts. She was told to remove her makeup right after performing her piece. Of course, she was averse, her natural looks were not impressive, and she relied on makeup to look the part.
And then...
The more the girl thought, the more upset she became. Then, people dispersed, and she left.
As she passed by the door, her gaze happened to rest on Hannah, sitting in the corner.
The sunlight splashed over Hannah’s smooth, fair chin; her lips were pale; from this spot, you could clearly see she wasn’t wearing any makeup.
Even so, her skin was still clean and clear.
The girl felt even worse, stomped her foot, and left in a hurry.
Half an hour passed, and most who entered excited came out dispirited.
Suddenly, staff from the production crew emerged from inside.
