Chapter 317: Chapter 317: Stay
In the group of scumbags, regardless of whether it were George River or Jackie Qualls, aside from the previous heroine’s love for them, these powerful and influential figures could still manipulate Hannah Winter as they pleased.
Louis Snyder was different from them.
From the start, this clever young man wove layer upon layer of massive web in the name of love for the former editor-in-chief. He stepped on her flesh and blood, climbing upwards step by step, but after reaching the top, he ruthlessly pushed down into the abyss the same woman who had once pour all her energy into helping him.
It could be said that more than half of Louis’ success was given to him by the previous editor-in-chief. Yet, he used it to form a sharp knife and mercilessly stabbed it into her heart.
The former editor-in-chief was naive, but Louis wasn’t a good person either.
Hannah raised her eyebrows and glanced casually at the side. Her gaze finally landed on a green teacup. She reached out to pick it up, playing with it in her fingers, "Do you like drinking tea?"
Louis’s pupils contracted abruptly, and he reached out to snatch it, but Hannah avoided him.
The young man’s tone cooled slightly, "Don’t touch it."
Hannah chuckled, unbothered by his insistence. She put the teacup back away, noticed Louis’s softened expression, and asked with a smile, "You’re so nervous about it. Was it a gift from a girlfriend?"
She looked at him with a smile, her lips curling in mild amusement as if she had asked the question casually, not caring about the answer.
Louis’s gaze lingered on her eyes, filled with laughter. After a long silence, he finally said, "No."
He didn’t have to explain further, but Hannah’s dazzling smile seemed to penetrate into his heart.
Suddenly feeling flustered, he ended up clarifying.
However, Hannah truly didn’t care, with an indifferent tone she said, "It’s okay. Maybe one day when you know the truth, you’ll smash it yourself."
Louis frowned, "What do you mean?"
Hannah didn’t reply.
She stood up brush the creases off her clothes, "I’m leaving first, remember to take your medicine."
Louis was taken aback, "You’re leaving?"
"What else?" Hannah looked at him with a puzzled expression, "You’re not handicapped, surely you don’t expect me to feed you the medicine?"
The young man pressed his lips together, watching her intently, falling silent once more.
The Hannah of this evening wasn’t quite like her usual self, but subconsciously, he felt that this was how she should be.
He felt a momentary unease when he heard she was leaving.
The young man’s hands, hidden under the blanket, clenched tightly and his voice was hoarse, "Just for tonight, stay. I don’t want to be alone."
He raised his head, his eyes pleading and slightly vulnerable, "Okay, big sister?"
He really didn’t want to be alone.
Hannah looked at him, walked a few steps closer, and gently brushed his messy bangs.
Faced with this close contact emanating a faint scent, Suzuki, who usually despised close contact, made an exception tonight by not resisting.
If this could soften her heart and make her stay, it would be worth tolerating.
The young man made an exception.
She looked at the beautiful young man in front of her with a beaming smile. It was as if a gentle moonlight was reflected in her eyes. Her red lips parted, uttering two words, "No way."
The young man’s face stiffened, and the suppressed anger seemed to resurface.
She was far away from him, and even their warm breaths landed on his face, like moonlight falling in the center of a lake - breathtaking, yet unreal.
He felt a rush of panic in his chest and unconsciously reached out to hold onto her delicate hand. However, Hannah had already moved away.
