Chapter 302: Chapter 302: Think Clearly

After all, Hannah was just an unknown rookie idol. She worried that Hannah might be feigning unconsciousness just for the sake of riding on Jackie Qualls’s fame.

"Put her down now. I’ll have the program team handle this," she demanded.

Jackie Qualls’s face remained unchanged, his voice commanding, "Step aside."

Sister Cooper’s face changed dramatically. Ignoring the others present, she blurted out, "Have you lost your mind? Do you realize what it means for you to carry her out of this building today?"

Jackie pressed his lips in silence, tightening his hold on the girl in his arms, savoring the warmth.

Sister Cooper stiffened her face, her tone stern, "If a paparazzi captures you holding this trainee, do you think the headline tomorrow won’t be ’Jackie Qualls’ Casting Couch’?"

The relationship between a talent show’s producer and a trainee runs deep, and even if you were in a genuine relationship, outsiders would not see it that way.

Although Jackie’s position as a superstar has been solid for many years, there are always newcomers popping up every year, all with their eyes on him, wanting to replace him.

Whether it’s newcomers or actors in competition, those with conflicting interests will not miss this chance that could possibly topple him.

Even if his PR handles it well, it’ll still have a significant impact.

Jackie hesitated, Sister Cooper, seeing his hesitation, said no more, letting him think it over.

It wasn’t easy for him to come this far, and he had to decide if he would let a woman ruin it all.

He lowered his head, the pale face of the girl in his arms remained devoid of any slightest trace of color. She looked frail, like a daffodil exposed to the harsh weather, heartbreakingly vulnerable.

Her curled eyelashes quivered, biting her lip as if in great discomfort.

He looked down, and in his obsidian eyes were mired the pain of conflict and a deep-seated fear.

He did not wish to re-live his past.

His impulse had almost destroyed the both of them, especially Hannah.

Even though he was reluctant, he eventually surrendered her into others’ care.

The moment she was taken away from him, he felt as if all strength was drained from him. His chest hollow and restless, it felt as though the girl was again drifting away from him. He even felt a piercing coldness in his breath.

Yet he could only watch as the girl, who had only just been nestled in his arms, was taken away until she was put into a car.

Sister Cooper warned him, "Don’t do such stupid things next time."

Jackie closed his eyes, weary, and said faintly, "I know."

I’m sorry. Even if we had a second chance, it seems I still cannot protect you without any constraint.

Jackie originally thought that everything was under his control. He came into the world with a deep-seated darkness seeking the single light of his life.

He used to swear that as long as he could find her, all would be well.

But it seems everything has changed.

Just like a greedy man making a wish to the sky.

I want a cabin. As long as it can provide shelter from the wind and rain, that’s all I’ll ask for.

Then he got his wish, a wooden house.

He thought he would be satisfied with it. But after a while, he found himself making another wish to the sky.

This time he wanted a castle.

Once you get what you want, you’ll start wishing for the next thing.

Indeed, the human heart is never content.

Hannah’s fainting sent the live broadcast room into chaos.

Everyone was initially excited to watch Hannah’s central solo recording for the theme song, no one expected such an incident would occur.
