Chapter 286: Chapter 286: Just an Accident

The boy’s back was still straight, like a cold green pine under the snow.

In his half-lidded eyes, beyond the bright red blood, was full of gloom and profoundness, like the deathly-still Dead Sea that never saw daylight. Even though his surface seemed calm, under it churned stormy waves.

Old Sir River frowned slightly and spared him a few more glances, but did not say anything in the end.

Arnold Simmons left on his own accord.

Old Sir River did not stop him or scold the two insolent children.

In families like theirs, bastards were detested the most.

Though this boy seemed a bit different, ultimately, how far he could go depended on his luck.

After all, even if one day Jimmy Simmons beat him to death, it was believed that the old man of the Simmons Family wouldn’t care.

Such cold-blooded indifference was the norm for them.

The live broadcast of the theme song ended, and unsurprisingly, Hannah snagged the coveted C position.

Of course, Tiffany Lynch was displeased and borrowed Joan King’s phone to call George River.

She started off by accusing, "George, you promised to give me the first C position."

George River, who was already irritated by the family situation and the heaviness of his everyday official matters, responded without his usual gentleness, "It was just an accident."

"An accident?" Tiffany Lynch tried to calm down, moved to a corner, and lowered her voice, "How could an accident happen? How could Hannah possibly beat me? I have so many more fans than she does. How is that possible?"

In fact, what Tiffany Lynch suspected the most was whether George River had bought votes for Hannah to make up for it.

Otherwise, how could Hannah possibly have so many more votes than her?

That was absolutely impossible!

George River frowned, gestured for his secretary to leave, went to the rest room and shut the door, pacifying, "Indeed, it was an accident. Someone was helping Hannah behind the scenes."

George River knew that Tiffany Lynch took winning or losing very seriously. He didn’t have the heart to tell her the truth that Hannah simply had more votes than she did. So he just tried to sugarcoat it.

Tiffany knew she shouldn’t push George too much. Her tone softened, with a crying overtone, "But who would help Hannah? What’s so good about her? George, can’t I really match up to Hannah?"

George River narrowed his eyes, "Of course, you can. You’re great."

"But I’ve been demoted from Class A to Class F. Do you know how others laugh at me?" As Tiffany Lynch spoke, the look in her tear-filled eyes suddenly turned vindictive, yet her words remained gentle, "George, I really don’t want to stay in Class F. I heard there’s not even any lighting for when we film the theme song in Class F. I can’t stand it."

George River fell silent.

Old Sir River had relocated him to headquarters. Prideful Entertainment was now managed by someone else.

He couldn’t leave instantly, so he could only console, "Tiffany, with your talent, you’ll soon return to Class A."

Even George River himself was somewhat doubtful with these words.

After all, Hannah was dazzling. If she was the standard for Class A, could Tiffany really surpass her?

He shook his head, his face full of helplessness.

Tiffany Lynch also detected the exhaustion in his words, but she wasn’t convinced. She gritted her teeth, "George, the filming of the theme song is the day after tomorrow. Can’t you really help me?"

She absolutely didn’t want to wear that gray and gloomy Class F outfit. It looked like a janitor’s.

She couldn’t accept it.

That’s why, even until now, when the recording was done, she hadn’t taken off her Class A outfit.

George River never felt as tired as he did right now, "Tiffany, do you know what the internet will say about you if you suddenly switch classes in a situation like this?"
